Look at the police, customs, immigration and EPF... they just love to see you begging for help and begging for them to let you go...Maverick SMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02871611453372513136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708423.post-1161510398299587732006-10-22T17:46:00.000+08:002006-10-22T17:46:00.000+08:00When I first read the story in the papers, I was m...When I first read the story in the papers, I was made to understand that the Minister for Tourism took tis case very seriously because it could give a wrong impression to the overseas tourists about Malaysia. I think he has got his focus wrong. Wven the Malaysians think very, very lowly of the way these so-called Islamic religious officers carry out their duties. This is not the first time and I seriously doubt it will be the last.

The government is impotent to act as it could jeopardize the support of the religious groups in the subsequent elections. UMNO is afraid that PAS will move in and capture the support of these religious groups.

Given a little authority, these zealots act like they are officers sent by the BIG GUY upstairs and hence their authority supercedes the police and everyone else on earth!

Mubarak has very valid points posed to the Muslims, more so to those so-called silent majority. Are they there or are they not there? Only the BIG GUY knows because they are not standing up to be counted when it matters most.

To a certain extent, I am heartened by the likes of Zaid Ibrahim. He has spoken openly and fairly but he appears to have few listeners among the Muslims. If they are listening, they are doing it quietly, as usual.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
