Malays going against Sultan?

The Malay non-governmental organisations in the state are going against the Perak Sultan by rejecting the six-three-one formula for the make-up of the state executive council, said Mentri Besar Mohamad Nizar Jamaluddin.

He said the organisations, numbering about 20, were exposing themselves to unnecessary trouble from the palace by insisting there should be more Malays in the exco line-up.

He pointed out that it was the people whom the Sultan would listen to on who should be in the executive council, not the NGOs.

“But if the NGOs want to make noise, that is their right,” he told reporters after meeting with village heads and penghulus at the State Secretariat here yesterday.

“If they want to go against the wishes of the Sultan, let them fight. And we should get away from these NGOs,” he quipped.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nizar clarified that the 18 DAP assemblymen, in accepting him as a Malay mentri besar, did not mean that the party had acceded to Malay supremacy.

“No, I think that the assemblymen were accepting what has been provided for in the state constitution, and are abiding by it,” he said.

He urged all doubters to give them 100 days to prove themselves, likening the new state government to a marriage.

“A couple might be newly married, but after three months, they would truly be in love. Three months is a fair period to judge and assess (the new government). Anything less is unfair,” he added.

MB: Malay NGOs going against Perak Sultan’s wishes

Umno finds it hard to accept realities. Corruption is deeply ingrained and embedded within the culture and they fear they would not be able to continue to live the life as celebrities and excesses. It is preferred by them that others must continue to be discriminated so that they could continue to enjoy. What is more of a concern is that they want the Chinese to continue to pay upfront for potential projects associated with their ability to seek opportunity using their political connection.

But now we have a few new state governments ruled by God-fearing Menteri besars, who would be honest, just and fair, and who will make it easier for all and every Malays to participate in the economic cake; and if this is so, then more of the ordinary competent and hardworking ordinary Malays would benefit and would deprive the celebrity-type Umno Malays who gets projects to sell to the Chinese, and gets upfront monies; while some who did not get projects would be selling their connection-potentials which are futuristic, by virtue of their political connectivity and alignments as close relatives of the oligarchy or the other family members of the oligarch. They may now have to adjust to a life without those easy monies and to live an ordinary life just like the others. They may not be able to travel overseas to so many countries, so often.

Doc,
the dangers of corruptions are more than just "paying upfront money".

The pork barrels handout always mean one thing : weak business foundation. It is asking for disaster : a small crisis will crack the whole chain of business.

In fact, a sounds business with sufficient tangible asset can be bailed out and make profits in future. (Thats why Warren Buffet buy GEICO when nobody wants it)

OTH, business with weak foundation should not be bailed out, because there is no foundation. But business below the chain will suffered like domino effect.

The Never Ending Policy has created a whole generation of Rentiers who only know how to gobble a lot of fish, but never learnt how to fish - they never had any incentive to.

Now they are faced with the prospect of losing all those goodies...

The same fear at even higher level, with big projects, is pervading the Federal circles , as they face the prospect of the Anwar Ibrahim threat - he's circling around UMNO like a shark right now.

Goodness! What more do they want?!
Don't they realise that this country is not about the Malays anymore?

God Fearing is a tall word that need to be proven. 100 days is fair to ask.

Going by their logic, shouldn't they be complaining that the Federal Cabinet has too many Malays?

Picked up a nice acronym from SCM(soc. cukture. malaysia):
UMNO = Untuk Melayu NO Otak.

The indulgently bourgeois and materialistic ones instigate the others on racist ground - it never varies.

Chicken Ball,

But everyone and everybody aprt of politics and may have to be involved in politics???

Moo_t,

You are right, but the fear was about upfront monies which is the survival kit.

CK,

I believe Nizar will do well. I have faith in him.

Kittykat46,

NEP will be history. Without NEP, the government will be forced to help all the poor and needy Malays and affirmative policies had to be formulated and implemented to eradicate poverty and upgrade the living standards of the citizens.

Hopeful,

You are one Malays who is a true Malaysian.

Gukita,

I believe the new MB of Perak will be God fearing and a good person. TI also believe Guan Eng will be another good leader. I don't know about Khalid.
