MSM instilling fears on PAS Islamic govt

This is what TheStar spinned on Sunday print:

KOTA BARU: PAS is now confident that it can soon set up an Islamic form of government at the federal level, which it claims is gaining more acceptance, especially with non-Muslims, following the good showing of the Opposition coalition in last weekend’s elections.

Its vice-president Datuk Husam Musa said there was growing support among the Chinese and Indians in various parts of the country towards the party’s political struggle.

“We are now genuinely hopeful of ruling the country soon. We now only need over 30 parliamentary seats to seize control,” Husam said.

Later in the evening, TheStar is forced to make this correction:

Husam clarifies 'take-over' statement

PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa has clarified that his statement on the party taking over the Government at the federal level was taken out of context.

“I mentioned that we are hopeful of taking 30 more parliamentary seats to win power and not about forming an Islamic Government,” he said.

Husam urged the mass media to be careful in its reporting to avoid antagonising anyone unnecessarily.

Note: It can be clearly seen that TheStar is trying to create fear and instill Islamophobias over the non-Muslims. The nation is now in greater danger not because the Malays are getting ultra-Islamist but because we now have The Star and NST instilling fears and paranoias on non-Muslims to make them agitated with PAS and to cause them to hate the Malays. At the same time, we have Bernama spinning May 13 threats as well as Utusan and Berita Harian spinning on threats by DAP & Chinese on issues relating to Malay rights and privileges of which corruption and cronyism is now classified and group as part of Malay rights and privileges enshrined in the Constitution.

you cannot blame ppl to have this mindset that PAS going to set islamic states. that is their goal, no matter how musa denied ... if they want to convince ppl that they fight for injustice and racial equality, they start with changing their party's name (and logo) like what datuk onn tried to do with umno 50 yrs ago......

all mainstream media are BN-owned so no point reading them. the sun used to be ok but now that vincent tan had taken over the sun, it is slowly becoming like the star.

so apa macam ini?

the 5 states without BN ruling should come up with a paper of their own. since they are the govt. now, they can give themselves the license for a daily paper.

just do the populace a favour. get rid of these spinners by boycotting the papers. and tell the chief editor to stop preaching from high moral grounds and brings disrepute to his religious beliefs.

Good for Husam Musa to push for a correction.

While many of us do not buys papers anymore, I know there are many who still have monthly subscriptions and could be influence by the untruths.

Like what denzook says - PAS should consider allaying the people's fear once and for all by officially re-stating their stand on the setting up of an Islamic state.

It's more time/energy saving rather then having to rebut whenever wrongly quoted or reported.

Note: BN is trying to spin their own stories. BN is trying to put words into other people's mouth. Lets spread this news as much as possible about the despicable act
of BN in putting words into other people's mouth.

BN are using MSM to spread rumous. It is sad truth that a lie when tell many times, will become truth.

I doubt boycotting paper will do much to ensure balance of news. The best way is provide alternatives.

The states government has the authority to allow alternatives prints. Or even better, the BR PMs can denied the printings acts.

BR must act fast, get the states free from the MSM first than waiting for Parliaments.

Denzook,

I do not agree. PAS is an Islamic party and their doctrines and values conformed to Islamic teaching. What they exalt are Muslims and what they expect is respect from non-Muslims.

Lucia,

I think most Malaysians will now read more of Malaysiakini. You can observed that Malaysiakini is now "The Mainstream Media".

Gan,

For as long as the MSM are ruled by bigots, even without PAS, they would spin DAP and MCA or MIC or anything that is necessary to fulfill their objective.

Hasilox,

Read Malaysiakini. Subscribe lah; it's only RM12 a month.

Helen,

No point; nothing good will come out of it. What we need is the blogosphere to help expose these bigots.

Moo_t,

I agree; boycotting is not a solution. The blogosphere is a much bigger mass to help expose the bigotry.

my dear fellow rakyat

stop yourselves from buying and reading Mainstream Media publications as they are trying and/or instilling negative messages simply to turn-around the lost BN votes.

It can be clearly seen that TheStar is trying to create fear and instill Islamophobias over the non-Muslims.
