At the Crossroad

In life we do often have to face the difficulty of making decisions when we arrived at a crossroad - turn left or right - and often we do not know what is the right path to move forward. The decision is often paradoxical and whichever way we chose could have its own consequences and after effects.

I too have reached such a point in my life and in the next few days I would need to make one - paradoxically far reaching - and change the course of my journey to the destination I had envisaged.

I will take a few days off and go for a holiday before I decide.

MCA questioned the sodomy conspiracists

The MCA branches under the Petaling Jaya Utara parliamentary constituency aired their concern in response to the latest twist to the case, a day after a medical report was leaked to the media.

Seven MCA branches have questioned the integrity of the sodomy allegation against opposition stalwart Anwar Ibrahim as well as the police investigation into the matter.

"We, being members of seven branches of MCA PJ Utara representing more than 1,000 members of MCA, wish to do our civic duty," read the two-page statement inked by MCA SS2 Town Centre branch chairperson Lee Chong Beng.

"We note that MCA cannot remain silent anymore, lest we be accused (if not already accused) of being accomplices to diabolical conspiracies."

"We had also taken the liberty to check on the comments contained in the medical report dated 28 June 2008 conducted on Mohd Saiful Bukhari Bin Azlan by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the Medical Officer at Hospital Pusrawi Sdn Bhd. Three doctors we have checked with have stated that the comments meant that the results for the alleged sodomy is ‘negative’. They also confirmed that a Doctor can never change a medical report."

The branches also took deputy inspector-general of police (DIGP) Ismail Omar to task for stating that media reports on the doctor’s findings were aimed at confusing the people.

"Such statements by the DIGP only serve to further the perception that the police is pulling out all the stops to withhold evidence crucial to prove Anwar’s innocence while at the same time fabricate or attempt to fabricate evidence against a fellow citizen of our country."

The branches also pointed out that the Anwar saga was doing the country harm as the international community has labeled Malaysia as a country ruled by a despotic government.

"We urge the police, the attorney-general and the government to treat all our citizens fairly, with transparency, without withholding crucial evidence and with the proper application of the rule of law."

I laud these few MCA guys; this purported conspiracy has nothing to do with MCA and neither will harm them nor benefit them. This is an Umno game, involving a Mongolian sales agent, and the unfair distribution of hundreds of millions of ringgit commission which caused the conspiracy to start working.

But MCA guys here were right; they can't remain silent lest they are observed to have concurred with the conspirators' diabolical acts. The MCA must rebuilt their image and must be seen to be relevant; otherwise, they might just bury themselves or cremate themselves at Nilai Memorial Park.

Deputy IGP Ismail Omar warn everyone, including bloggers, not to disturb police investigations by disseminating material or information that is inaccurate or false.

Health Ministry Director-General Dr Mohd Ismail Merican said the Health Ministry prefer to stand by the findings of the medical examination conducted on Mohd Saiful by doctors at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur and not concerned with those from Dr Mohamed Osman from Hospital Pusrawi.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the Government will not direct the police to drop its investigations into the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim sodomy case just because a medical report said the complainant had not been sodomised. Syed Hamid said the medical report from Hospital Pusrawi was “just one piece of evidence in a whole chain of evidences” at which the police were looking.

Syed Hamid also said it was unethical for the medical report to be leaked, as this constituted a breach of trust between the doctor and patient, and urged the medical fraternity to look into this.

Sodominologist's dissertation

The police would not accept a doctor's examination from the govt. funded hospital? Funny? It seems they preferred something else; we don't know. A medical report is a piece of legal tender which would be used in the court to determine the allegations against a person accused of the said crime and such evidence is enough to derail the burden of proof. Criminal law requires that the burden of proof must be beyond reasonable doubt; this piece of evidence cut-through this essence of actus reas and create doubts unless that Dr Mohamed Osman produced another Statutory Declaration to declare his own fraudulent act or would stand in the court to denounced his own findings or claimed that the document is fraudulent.

The justice system cannot pick and choose evidences; they cannot be seen to have preferences over a bulk of evidences. Saiful was at the Pusrawi hospital at 2pm and the medical examination report said there was no evidence of foreign object that had trespassed his anus. Saiful was at the KL Hospital at 6pm and even if the doctors's findings did show that his arsie had been trespassed by a dick, then the court would have to consider whether Saiful had got himself raped during the 4 hour lapse or the prosecution must proved causation and that the chain was not broken during that lapse time or there was sufficient evidence to show that Anwar was the person who did it between 2pm-6pm on that day.

What is puzzling is that Home Minister Syed Albar, himself a lawyer, and competent in law, could beyond legal comprehension states that “just one piece of evidence in a whole chain of evidences” at which the police were looking. In Criminal Law, just one piece of evidence is sufficient to create an element of doubt which derails the burden of proof beyond reasonable doubt. That statement implied some thoughts and motives that belied the intention of the pursuer. It sounds like: "we will nail him at all cost." Maybe, Parliament can consider to amend the penal code and the strict burden of proof and make it easier to prosecute and indict; but that would itself made the country's justice system an international clown.

We hope that the law makers and the executives would have common sense and the intellect to discern. The world is watching Malaysia and we may be grouped alongside Zimbabwe and the 4th World Pariah Nations.

There is no evidence that Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan was sodomised, according to the doctor who examined him four hours before he lodged a police report alleging he was sexually assaulted by PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.

It is believed that Saiful went to two different hospitals on June 28 - the day he lodged the police report claiming that he was sodomised by his ex-boss.

He first went to Hospital Pusrawi (Pusat Rawatan Islam) in Jalan Tun Razak - a government-linked Islamic medical institution - at about 2pm.

According to a copy of the medical report obtained by malaysiakini yesterday, Saiful went to the hospital complaining of 'tenesmus' - a medical term for difficulty and pain in passing motion.

He was examined by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the medical officer on duty.

The doctor said that the patient had alleged he was assaulted by the intrusion of a piece of "plastic" in the anus.

Mohamed Osman, according to his medical report which was recorded at 2.14pm, found "zero active bleeding", "zero ulcer or pus", "zero tear and scar" in Saiful's anus.

He also stated that Saiful appeared "alert", "comfortable", "not pale" and did not show any fever symptoms.

A senior Pusrawi official told malaysiakini this morning that the hospital had launched an internal investigation on how Saiful's medical report was leaked.

When malaysiakini showed him a copy of the report, he refused to return it saying, "It's our document."

Mohamed Osman, in his report's concluding remarks, advised Saiful to go to a government hospital so as "to rule out" assault and sodomy.

At 6pm on that day, Saiful went to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for his second medical examination. He subsequently lodged a report against Anwar at the police beat at the hospital.

According to an expert who has dealt with rape and sodomy cases, the victim must provide a second medical examination in a government hospital.

She said the court will only accept evidence from a government hospital but the first medical examination must collaborate with the second report, otherwise this could be challenged during the trial.

"From the report, the doctor had failed to find any evidence to support the patient's complaint. That was why he asked the patient to go to a government hospital to conclusively rule out assault or sodomy," said the expert who requested anonymity.

The doctor was said to be under tremendous stress as a result of the police interrogation and was advised by the hospital to take leave.

A check at the emergency unit where Mohamed Osman is attached revealed that he has taken leave since last week.

Apparently, it was reported at Malaysia-Today's blog that the medical doctor was lockup for 3 days by the police for "interrogation purpose".

Raja Petra's Malaysia-Today alleged that the doctor was directed to re-write his medical report to affirm that there were something that can relate the anus trespassing but the doctor refused to write a new daVinci Code.

Analytical Dissertation

Maybe, this is the reason that the police need some new DNA samples which the old samples cannot do. However, Prime Minister Pak Lah said the old DNA samples from Anwar had expired and thus a new sample is needed to collaborate and demystify.

Some people said this new scientific findings was discovered when our scientist conducted various tests at the International Space Station of which the results of the tests indicate that there is a high probability that DNA samples can expire over time if not properly utilized and stored.

However, the American and Russian scientists have yet to concur with the research findings and thus they could not confirm this hypothesis neither could they dispute the validity.

It is sad to note that American and Russian scientists have slackened and are far behind our Malaysian scientists in their medical research. We hope that the Americans will work hard to catch up with our progress; otherwise, they will face a drop in their International Rating and may rank below us.

BMC: "No violence used," says FRU.

How did 23-year-old mechanic Chang Jiun Haur suffered grievous bodily harm with broken nose, broken teeth and concussion?

FRU says they never used violence at all; they politely asked Chang to get down from his car.

Lance corporal Fariz Abdul Samad, who was supervising a FRU squad at the scene, told this to the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) today.

"There was no reason for us to hit or bang the car. We only wanted them (the driver and the passengers) to come out," Fariz said when he was grilled by Suhakam.

According to Fariz, it appeared that Chang’s foot was still on the accelerator pedal.

Fariz also denied that the FRU personnel together with plainclothes policemen had assaulted Chang. "I did not see it (the assault) and I believe there was no violence," he said, maintaining this stand throughout the entire inquiry session. He also explained that there was no order given to charge towards the car.

The inquiry panel members also asked Fariz if he had witnessed any FRU personnel being injured in the incident. The lance corporal replied that he was not aware of any injuries at that moment but had later accompanied the two personnel to file a police report and seek medical treatment at the Kajang Hospital.

The duo were identified as constable Mohd Azniey Ahmad Supian, who sustained injuries to his right thumb, and constable Muhammad Firdaus Abdul Rasid who was injured in the knee.

At this juncture, head of the Suhakam panel commissioner Zaiton Othman instructed to replay the 30-minute video clip evidence on the incident. She then asked Fariz to identify himself and to prove that the FRU personnel were hit by the car.

However, Fariz was unable to pinpoint his position but asserted that he was close enough to see his officers being knocked by the car. Following this, Suhakam commissioner Dr Chiam Heng Keng asked if he had rushed to the aid of the injured personnel, to which Fariz replied: "I did not, I was focussed on what was happening around me. I had to prevent my troops from more harm.“

Chang must have intentionally beaten up himself so badly in order to gain sympathy! It is not impossible because he will get some mileage if he showed he was abused by police.

I remembered many years ago Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has suggested in the court hearing that Anwar Ibrahim's black-eye injury was self-inflicted.

Dr Mahathir told reporters that Mr Anwar might have hurt himself to gain public sympathy. "It's not impossible because he will get plenty of mileage if he showed he was abused by police," Dr Mahathir was quoted as saying by the national news agency Bernama. (Read the news here).

PM admit it wasn't about Islam; it was about Power-sharing

Prime Minister finally admitted that it truthfully wasn't about Malay unity nor Islam unity on the dialogue between Umno and PAS on the March 10 meeting. It was about POWER SHARING DEAL with PAS!

So, do not twist and manipulate in the name of one’s religion for the sake of political gain or personal profit. This principle is affirmatively enunciated by none other than the prime minister himself (refer to his earlier statements here).

The official agenda was to discuss issues concerning the unity of Islam and the Malays. There is never an issue about Umno and PAS having dialogues to promote unity and to promote Islam and nobody is against it. But to use the reasons of religious unity in order to strike a power deal to gain control of a state is in essence an act of contriving and iniquitous; and this is blasphemous. It is not wrong for a political party to seek alliance so as to form a government but as Muslims they should be honest about it and not lie about it by misusing the name of Islam. Do not forget that Umno also tried to lure the Indians and Chinese state assemblymen from Perak to defect to BN and they can't contradict themselves and sell their souls by claiming it to be in the interest of Islam; it can only be for the interest of retaining power and political domination. (Remember that Tajol Rosli had announced that DAP and PKR ADUNs will be defecting to BN before August 31).

AS reported at Malaysiakini, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today said Umno had offered to share power with PAS in Selangor after the general elections as it was within its right as the incumbent state government.

"Maybe at the early stages when it was undecided on who would form the government at that time because Umno had the highest number of seats in Selangor," he added.

"So, at that time Umno felt that it has a right to seek the opportunity to form the government and to negotiate with any party to form the government," he told reporters.

Previously, Umno leaders said the talks were limited to the subject of Malay unity and Islamic matters and not political cooperation.

This is the first time that Abdullah, who is also Umno president, had admitted to the possibility of a political alliance with PAS on the subject of Selangor.

Former Selangor MB Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo was the first Umno politician to admit that the offer was made shortly after the March 8 polls.

Proton's dilemma with Perdana

The Terengganu state government will produce detailed proof of the service cost and maintenance of the Proton Perdana V6 Executive cars that it had used as the state's official cars.

This is to justify the Terengganu government's purchase of 14 Mercedes Benz (E200 Kompressors) cars, worth RM3.43 million, to replace the Perdana cars for use by the state executive councillors and senior state government officers.

Defending its decision, the menteri besar's office, in a press statement said that the maintenance cost had been high since the Perdana cars were put into use four years ago.

The statement said the maintenance cost of just two of the cars since 2004 had come up to RM175,229 and RM132,357.

On Monday, Najib said all senior ministry officials and state government executive councillors must use national cars instead of foreign models. This, he added was a long standing policy.

Maintenance cost for a Perdana V6 for 4 years is RM175,000? That's damn high and excessive!

Is Perdana that bad quality? or are the drivers? or something else that we don't know?

The Perdana V6 Club has come to the defence of the Proton Perdana, saying that it is a good car.

V-Sixers secretary Mohd Yazmeen Md Yusof said he was disappointed with what Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said had said about the car.

“If they think it is difficult to maintain, then how can private Perdana owners survive? How could clubs for the car be formed if it really was that bad?”

Mohd Yazmeen said the frequency in which the car had to be sent to the workshop for major repairs depended on the way it was driven.

“My eight-year-old car still has the original gearbox and engine with a mileage of 200,000km. There is no need to change anything if it is maintained well.”

Automotive blogger Paul Tan said maintenance cost should not be a problem as Proton cars are under warranty for the first four years. If this is true, the Terengganu V6 is only 4 years and why did they pay hundreds of thousands for repair and maintenance?

V-Sixers president Alex Yue said the Perdana was a decent car, which should not pose any problems if driven properly.

Alex Yue admitted he had changed his gearbox and drive shaft of his four-year-old car, but he said his “aggressive” driving style was the cause of his car’s problems.

“I have also driven a BMW 325 and a Honda Accord, and both had gearbox problems,” Alex Yue said.

I have never own any Perdana and thus had no such experience to relate. I had own a Saga and a Wira and I can say that Saga is reliable except that it is fragile and had poor road holding if you drive 110kph.

But I owned a BMW and had never had problem with the gearbox or engine. I once owned an Accord and it also had no such problems with the gearbox.

But one thing is very certain and empirical: when I get to the toll booth, I often observed that those who drives Proton cars will open the door to pay the toll or swipe the Smartcard. I have yet to see other makes of cars doing the same thing. Maybe, it is a cultural aspects of Proton owners to do it that way as a gesture or a symbol of harmony.

Umno's racial Conspiracy

On March 10 (or 11, as PAS Abdul Khalid Samad could not remember the exact date) Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, former Selangor menteri besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo and PAS leaders, Nasharudin Mat Isa, Mustafa Ali and Khalid Samad were huddled together in a building in Kuala Lumpur for a secret meeting.

PAS committee member Abdul Khalid Samad revealed that Khir Toyo had proposed during the meeting that Umno and PAS form a joint government to rule Selangor.

Khalid who is also the MP for Shah Alam, claimed that the meeting was colored with a racial agenda - to halt the predominantly Chinese DAP from making inroads into the Selangor government.

Khalid said Khir Toyo was willing to become deputy menteri besar if Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Hassan Ali is made menteri besar.

According to Khalid, "Khir said (at the meeting) this was one of the solutions to overcome the problems facing Islam and the Malays," he added.

We can observed with clarity and empirically that Islam can be used to grab power and also Islam can also be used as a tool for racial divide. Islam was thus extremely useful for human purposes - the greed for power, wealth and positions.

Umno was prepared to bow down to PAS and play second fiddle so long as they can hold on to power-sharing and to continue to rule the state. How they would later deal with PAS's power was secondary and unimportant at that moment so long as PAS is willing to collaborate with them in the game of power and help them to maintain a stranglehold albeit the fact that they would play the role of mistresses. Thereafter, they can later have secret deals with the others from DAP and PKR ADUNs and uses money and positions to buy over a few of them into BN which would then give BN the majority control; thus overthrow PAS.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi admitted that Umno had held three top-leadership meetings with PAS to discuss the situation of Islam and Malays in the country. However, he declined to elaborate.

Last night, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang also confirmed that talks took place between the two parties.

Pak Lah had always emphasized that he is the PM for all Malaysians - the Malays, Indians, Chinese, Ibans, Kazadans, Dayaks, etc. But he was in a secret meeting to conspire using the racial cards as the prime motive - that they want to halt the predominantly Chinese DAP from making inroads into the Selangor government. That was revealed by PAS Khalid Samad.

Proton's needs, NEP's Dilemma

Proton Holdings Bhd needs a foreign partnership to be more competitive in the automotive market, said Minister of International Trade and Industry Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"I still believe that this (foreign partnership) is an idea which Proton has to explore.

"I don't think that we need to be too nationalistic in the sense of supporting Proton without taking into consideration what the business is all about," Muhyiddin said.

OMG! This is going to be hurtful! This strikes the very ego of the central system - it is the ketuanan thing; Proton is part of the core concept and any loss of control will crack the central ego; it will also diminish the Bumi percentum and directly affects the aspiration of achieving the artificial illusory 30%. They themselves keep doing things that impair and ultimately diminish the 30% and then later blames every others for their inability to get there. How could they do this? What if, other than Proton, there are in reality more of such organs that are also facing such competitive dilemmas and may have also to consider the dilutions and diminution of control? Wouldn't that defeat the fundamental concepts?

According to Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein, the ultimate truth on matters with which it deals certainly deserves, by its breadth and scope and profundity, to be considered an important event in the philosophical world. In the philosophy of Symbolism, it is concerned with the conditions which would have to be fulfilled by a logical perfect language, for there is a problem of what actually occurs in our minds when we use language with the intention of meaning something by it, and the problem as to what is the relation subsisting between thoughts, words, or sentences, and that which they refer to or mean, and finally, with the problem of using sentences so as to convey truth rather than falsehood; this last is a logical question and is the one which is concerns with Symbolism.

Let's do a linguistic analysis using the logical understanding means of philosophical symbolism:

Part 1:

"Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the present government is not "so stupid or unimaginative" to trump up sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim all over again."

What does the language imply? Let's dissect the sentence into 3 segments; first segment: "the present govt is not so stupid" must imply that stupidity did existed by way of synthetic knowledge a posteriori, that is, events of such stupidity must had occurred, experienced and profoundly learned that it would had been stupid if they would commit the same error twice.

2nd segment: "...to trump up sodomy allegations". The Webster dictionary defines Trump-up as: to concoct especially with intent to deceive : synonyms: fabricate, invent (see: merriam-webster.com)

3rd segment: "...against Anwar all over again." What can it mean? Linguistically, it means doing an act against a person applying the same tools and techniques repeated for more than once.

Taken together the three segment: The present govt would be so stupid to try to concoct with intent to deceive or fabricate a similar act and at the same time using similar tools and techniques again on the same person if that scheme had previously failed to achieved it's purpose and objective.

Part 2:

"The probability is that the story is the same because it is genuine,"

This is interesting! According to Bertrand Russell, "The business of language is to assert or deny facts. Given the syntax of a language, the meaning of a sentence is determine as soon as the meaning of the component words is known. In order that a certain sentence should assert a certain fact there must, however the language may be constructed, be something in common between the structure of the sentence and the structure of the fact.

The fundamental thesis of Wittgenstein's theory of Symbolism is that which has to be in common between the sentence and the fact cannot be itself in turn said in language. It can only be shown, not said, for whatever we may say will still need to have the same structure.

What concerns this sentence is that we should be able to derive a picture from the sentence: that the story is the same because it is genuine; rightly or falsely; for it doesn't matter whether it is true or not that the story of sodomy is true, but the intention to pick on a man more than once on a similar crime was to conjure the picture that it is genuine and thus true.

My thesis ends here. I am not interested whether the accusation is true or false; I am seeing a picture that there seems to be much interest and intention driven by specific motivation.

I am a admirer of Mahathir's profound knowledge and his ability to articulate and enunciate his points using his power of language. He is a good orator, a good writer and a person who has a strong command of the languages, spoken and written.

Shabery defines what's "personal attack"

Information Minister Shabery Cheek has denied making personal attacks on Anwar Ibrahim in the televised debate.

Replying to critics, he said he had not taken pot shots at Anwar:

"I only criticized his policy stance during the 1997 financial crisis when he was the deputy prime minister. I talked about his policies and leadership record when questioning his credibility to strengthen my arguments.

“I just wanted to strengthen my argument," Shabery said (ref: TheStar)

"Personal attacks will be more about criticizing his face, his clothes or his preferences," Shabery said at the Parliament lobby yesterday.


Hahaha... today I learn one thing: Personal attacks is about criticizing face, clothes and preferences!!! That's something profound to me!

Now, I can criticize anybody on anything and so long as I don't criticize their face, clothes and preferences on food or clothings.

Shabery said he was satisfied with his performance as he had managed to erase the myth of Anwar being a great orator. He also said he had received hundreds of SMSes congratulating him on his performance at the debate.

And he is going to meet the Prime Minister to evaluate his performance and probably see whether he will get a promotion or recognition.

Asked whether there should be more of such debates, Ahmad Shabery said "It is better than having street demonstrations or inappropriate concerts."

He hoped that it would be an institutionalized part of Malaysian politics in the future.

Anwar sent to Hospital for DNA test?

The police have taken PKR de facto Anwar Ibrahim to Hospital Kuala Lumpur. It is believed that the opposition leader will undergo DNA tests.

Anwar arrived at the hospital's emergency unit at about 8.50pm. Some 40 police personnel have been deployed in the area.

The politician was later taken to the hospital's royal ward.

Meanwhile, PKR supreme council member and Selangor exco Dr Xavier Jeyakumar confirmed that Anwar and his lawyer R Sivarasa have gone to the hospital.

At the afternoon parliamentary debate today, it is observed that both Khairy Jamaluddin and Mukhriz Mahathir already had the police report made by Saiful and also had read the medical reports of Saiful; on the contrary, Anwar and his family had not been given a copy of these reports. That's funny and puzzling!!!

Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (PKR-Permatang Pauh) asked Khairy how he had come to know the police was in need of her husband's DNA sample.

“How does Rembau know the content of the police report when we, the affected party, have not gotten hold of the police report?” she asked.

Khairy shot back by pointing out that the police investigation against Anwar was related to a sodomy charge, and thus DNA would be required as part of the probe.

“Sodomy allegations indicate that there is anal intercourse, that there was penetration. So you need DNA to prove (that the act took place),” he said.

Mukhriz rubbed insult to injury when he said he believed the truth in the “despicable” crime allegedly committed by Anwar.

Muhkriz: “I believe that Anwar did it! He did that despicable thing! That’s why I challenge, as Rembau did just now - give the DNA!”

He also slammed Pakatan Rakyat Muslims MPs for insisting on more stringent standards of evidence as contained in Islamic laws for accusations of sexual violations.

Mukhriz: “There are leaders over there who are demanding for four witnesses (to the alleged act of sodomy). How can there be four witnesses? They would have sinned if they saw the commission of the act but did not do anything to stop it!”

Amwar & Raja Petra indicted

They arrest Anwar at 1pm because the police were worried that he will not show up at 2pm at IPK.

"He was arrested as we had reason to believe he was not going to show up. We wish to point out that Anwar had initially agreed to meet us on Monday but failed to keep his appointment," Federal CID director Bakri Zinin.

Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wan Farid Wan Salleh said Anwar was supposed to have gone straight to the police headquarters here after his interview at the Anti Corruption Agency in Putrajaya.

“Instead, he was on his way home. He couldn’t possibly have made it on time.

“The police were just executing a warrant of arrest against Anwar,” he told reporters in the Parliament lobby on Wednesday.

Shabery debase or debate?

I normally do not watch TV except for EPL and F1.

But last night I had to watch because it is something non existent in Malaysia - a Minister of Information debating with someone who is not even an MP, nor a State Assemblyman, neither is he a president or deputy of a political party: that man is just a husband of the opposition leader: that man is Anwar Ibrahim.

Go read at Anil Netto for the debate issues. I just want to tell you what I think:

Anwar was focused on the issue of the debate: “Today we form the Government, tomorrow the fuel prices will go down." He kept his points of contention and arguments directed to this central discourse.

Shabery started the first 5 minutes the same way. Thereafter, he talks and makes reference to the recent concert in Kelana Jaya, to 1974 demonstration of Anwar-ABIM, to 1990's role in IPPs' agreement; he's got nothing to debate against Anwar on the subject topic except to tell the audiences that it is not easy for the government; it is easy for the opposition to hurl accusations without substantive solutions; that the rice in Malaysia is cheaper than in Thailand; that although Venezuela's petrol price is cheaper but their inflation is higher.

Our rice is cheaper than Thailand, and that is because of our policies. We don't have to demonstrate on the streets or organise improper concerts," Shabery said.

I'm not sure what Shabery is saying: rice is cheaper than Thailand? Do you eat the same rice in Thailand? Proton is cheaper than Mercedes? That's the same - apple vs apple? That Finland do not have subsidies and are equally successful economies?

"In 2015, Malaysia will become a net importer of oil. By then, would we not be forced to raise the price of fuel (more) drastically (compared to today)?" Shabery quipped. asked.

Anwar explained that what Petronas reported was that Malaysia would only become a net importer of oil if no new oilfields were discovered in the next 10 years.

It was a shame; It wasn't a debate on Shabery's part; he was using it as a platform to hurl abuses against Anwar; and shockingly, Anwar had the intuitions and the answer to the potshots.

Proton: Agustarded or Bagustarded?

In December 2004, Proton advisor and former Prime Minister Mahathir and the then CEO of Proton Tengku Mahaleel decided to buy MV Agusta for RM367.6 million, which represents a 57.75% stake: thus a controlling stake of an Italian motorcycle manufacturer.

Mahathir had always wanted to proved to the Mat Sallehs that we Malaysian Boleh: we are a small developing country who has big heart and big minds; Malaysia may be a small country but it can conquer the capitalist world.

Tengku Mahaleel said at that time that the purchase, similar with its acquisition of Lotus Group International, gave the group the engineering capability to develop a full range of transport products from motorcycles and watercraft to light aircraft and military vehicles.

However, in July 2005 Tengku Mahaleel was ousted as the CEO of Proton.

Khazanah Nasional Bhd, the government investment agency, which owns 42.7% of Proton, through the Proton board, exercised their most important prerogative as an owner – the right to hire and fire; and out goes Tengku Mahaleel.

On November 30, 2005, Proton Chairman Mohammed Azlan Hashim announced the appointment of Perodua Auto Corp executive director Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir, then 43, as its new managing director.

In December 2005, Proton Holdings announced that it has sold its 57.7% stake in MV Agusta SpA for one Euro (RM4.48) to Gevi SpA, an unknown, smallish investment holding company.

Gevi was to assume Agusta’s “restructured frozen debts”, which amounted to 106.9mil euro (RM478mil) which was the supposedly the reason why Proton decided to sell Agusta.

Mahaleel and Proton advisor Mahathir strongly criticized the Agusta sale and demanded information on why it went ahead, saying their credibility is at stake over the deal.

Proton Chairman Mohammed Azlan Hashim claimed that Agusta failed to deliver the synergies expected.

"It took five months to come to that point and we hired external consultants and lawyers and, looked at the possibility of restructuring Agusta but found out it was not a solution," said Azlan Hashim.

The group exco at that time, which was formed to take over the daily running of Proton after former CEO Tengku Mahaleel left, decided that a detailed review was needed and Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), along with an Italian law firm, were hired to advise Proton on how to move forward.

CSFB had then done its review of Agusta and what it found was “scary” as it found that the existing business model of Agusta was neither operationally nor financially sustainable.

Proton was told by its newly appointed adviser CSFB that for Agusta to continue surviving, it needed 40 million euros in the near term and up to 66 million euros until Agusta is able to support itself. “This is clearly beyond Proton's means,'' said Azlan.

Another problem the Proton board had to deal with was how to turn around Agusta operationally as the company had lost 120 million euros in the last six years.

Azlan said the only option then left for Proton to extricate itself from Agusta without spending more cash was to sell its stake in Agusta.

The Proton board then asked CSFB to find a buyer before the end of December 2005 so that Proton would not have to pay the 16mil euros debt payment and pour in further funds into Agusta.

Mahathir was extremely upset with Agusta's sales: "The sale of MV Agusta for one euro was based on poor understanding of the automotive industry," Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.

“I cannot understand their decision to sell," Mahathir said.

"But if you know the automotive industry, you would know that motorcycle companies have a lot of engineering knowledge. That is why Honda has a 50cc motorcycle. Today you know that Honda is associated with some of the best cars in the world. So, it is possible for motorcycle companies to contribute towards the development of motor cars.”

Dr Mahathir, who is the advisor of Proton, said the decision had led to the Proton board losing the RM500 million paid for the stake in MV Agusta.

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi defended Proton's decision to sell Agusta at one Euro. "THE E1 (RM4.48) price tag on MV Agusta E Motors SpA was not a result of an error in management," Abdullah said.

Abdullah said that the sale to GEVI SpA from Italy was necessary to allow Proton Holdings Bhd to concentrate on its core business of car manufacture and sale.

The decision to sell Agusta to GEVI SpA was considered necessary because GEVI SpA had good financial standing, allowing it to take over Agusta together with Proton’s debts for the sum of E1. "The decision on the sale by the Proton management was the best choice in the interests of company operations and business," Abdullah said.

Gevi SpA subsequently sold part of its stakes to BMW. BMW Motorrad acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles, which is owned by Agusta, for 90 million euro (RM450 million).

Now we are informed that Harley Davidson Inc has agreed to purchase MV Agusta for US$109 million (RM352 million).

That's a total of RM802 million! Proton sold Agusta for RM4.48 and Gevi sold Agusta for RM802 million! That's truly Malaysia Boleh - the suckered!

Anyway, we must learn to appreciate the Proton board of directors; they had done a good and exceptional job!

And this is the questions Mahathir posed today in his blog:

"Do we need a royal commission to look into this or should the ACA investigate this matter particularly the role of Credit Suisse who was paid a huge consultancy fee to advise Proton's management who executed it.

"Or maybe we do not mind losing RM800 million because we have so much money."

Mahaleel said that the purchase of Agusta’s Husqvarna-brand and its factory by German luxury automobile giant BMW last month was proof that the ‘old’ Proton management had made the right choice.

Mahaleel said nothing had been done to increase the value of Agusta since Proton sold its stake as there were "no sales increase, no new products nor new patents".

“Put it simply, it was worse off when it was sold to BMW and yet they paid 93 million euros... (the present Proton management) on the other hand, we sold the whole thing - three factories, three brands - for just one euro,” lamented Mahaleel today.

"I, too, want to see a BN state government in Perak, but let's use the legitimate process so that the credibility of the BN government will not be questioned."

In the meantime, Perak BN should make use of the next three or four years to plug weaknesses which had caused it to lose seats and the state in the general election, he said.

"The state BN must work hard to identify its weaknesses so that it will be strong by the next general election and be able to wrest Perak from Pakatan Rakyat."

However, Umno is impatient; they are not used to be powerless, as power provides wealth and influence, and more power means more wealth for their leaders and some of it for their followers.

It's been 4 months since, and these few months had being hard times for those Umno leaders. Those days, they wake up and money flows in; now they wake up and they had to find some money to buy breakfast for themselves and their family members. Lunch time, they will also need to find money; those days, lunches and dinners are fully sponsored by bodekers and agents who are sourcing for projects and kangtaus. Worse off, the leaders will also need to pay for their visitors who come running for help. They would now have to cry out loud to Pak Lah to pass some undertable sums to the state-level and divisional levels for the Umno members who are suffering from the lack of pay-offs and kangtaus. Pity the Umno leaders; it has not being easy for them to live a life where they had to earn monies to survive and pay for their own expenses.

Lee said the English language had not only become the world's most spoken language but was also the language of the Internet world, and this had benefited Singaporeans the most.

The former prime minister also said that the present leadership should now look for new leaders to replace them when they retired in less than a decade from now.

He said that if they failed to recruit new leaders, the country would be taken over by the opposition parties who would have their own capable leaders.

Yesterday we hear of a police officer making a report that the police station practice inequality and discrimination because there was unequal distribution of bribes. We are also told that policeman will asked for blowjobs and screw-job from those who are under their control even for inchoate offence.

Today we read about the Director-General of Immigration and six others including senior officers been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Agency for alleged graft.

“We are investigating them for alleged involvement in the issuance of work permits to foreign workers,” ACA director of investigations Datuk Shukri Abdul said.

Before all these news, we also read of Balasubramaniam's dual SD and RPK's SD and Anwar-Saiful's SDme.

We are also told that Biro Tatanegara (BTN) under the Prime Minister's Department and fully funded by taxpayers' money which organizes student development programmes of which we are told that the programmes are facilitated to spread propagandas to enhance racial divide and hatred. The students at UiTM are indoctrinated with these knowledge: that Bangsa Malaysia does not exist, neither does Malaysian Chinese and Indians; in the strict sense we are classified as Malaysian Malay, and all others are only Chinese and Indians; that the University and Colleges Act was partly made to ensure a Malay Vice-Chancellor in Universities which should be the way;etc (Read it yourself here)

Now we also read in the news that Ezam had warned Anwar that he would reveal his dark secrets if Anwar linked him to a political conspiracy over the sodomy report - "I will divulge your secrets,” Ezam declared. We have people who claimed to be Muslims and swear in the name of Allah that he will hide the "dark secrets" on the condition that he is not linked to the sodomy conspiracy. He was prepared to hide truth of " dark secrets" so long as his integrity was kept clean; does it mean that he also had something that cannot be told that could affect his integrity?

Policemen's dilemma: Rape and Bribe!

The girl allegedly raped by a policeman in a police station has lost more than 10kg in 22 days.

In an exclusive interview with the China Press, the victim said: “I have lost confidence and will never believe in policemen anymore.”

She said the presence of policemen should instill confidence but “it is unbelievable he used such tactics to satisfy his lust.’

On June 18, the girl was with her boyfriend when the policeman stopped their motorcycle at 5am in Subang Jaya, Selangor.

The boyfriend did not have a driving license and the policeman instructed them to go to the police station where the policeman instructed the girl to undress to check the driving license and threatened jailing her boyfriend if she did not comply.

She was then instructed to perform blowjob on the policeman and then screwed at the station. She said the policeman had told her that there are many others before her who had been very cooperative.

Many others had been cooperative towards the policemen's demand??? That's our Malaysian policemen? That's the safety of the people; the boy just didn't have a license; that's all! In another development as reported in The Star today, a policeman has lodged a police report against all his colleagues including his superiors allegedly over dissatisfaction on how the monthly bribes from those operating illegal activities was being distributed.

In retaliation, his superior, a sergeant also lodged another police report for selling some old wooden and iron furniture from the police station to scrap dealers.

They are quarreling over the distribution of bribes!!! What's happening to the police force? Semua Okay???
