19-year-old Sheikh Faeizan Omar has been jailed in a Taipei prison since May for alleged heroin possession.
Sheikh Faeizan said he was unaware of the existence of the drug in his luggage. The boy from Kampung Paya Embun in Pekan Nanas, Johor, was detained in Taiwan on the allegation that he had attempted to smuggle drugs. It is believed that Sheikh Faeizan was duped by an international drug syndicate.
Utusan Malaysia quoted Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim as saying that Wisma Putra would help Malaysians, particularly women, who were victimised by drug syndicates and jailed overseas.

It is very unfortunate that the drug syndicates keep choosing innocent Malaysians as their favorite conveyancer. We must protest strongly to the United Nation on this abuses and discriminations. We hope that the drug syndicate will spare our boys and girls and go somewhere else to look for others to be their transporting mules and donkeys.

Let me just say that in any issues, it always takes 2 to tango. The girl must have been tempted with what was presented to her up front, coz any given sane person would have decline this kind of offer as the saying goes(translated from chinese)....."Is there so many fat toad running around?"
Mav, you might have to translate this for those none Chinese speaking readers...

He is researching on the environment in Taiwan for his potential degree at university.
Toolan,
Translation: "Too many fat toads, don't hop around town if there's no nutritious food."
Under Malaysia law this boy would have got mandatory hanging. No questions asked. No just because a MALAY boy is in trouble everyone suddenly mengelabah...
My thought is the Taiwanese should try him under Malaysian law using Malaysian standard of evidence.
Now the shoe is on the other foot and it hurts like hell. Serves you right
So now that a malay BOY travelling alone is caught being a drug mule overseas, will our very wise Dr (I also malu to say I too graduated from Uni of London) Rais suggest that male Malaysians travelling alone get written parental approval before being allowed to travel??
