REmbau MP and the son-in-law of the prime minister Khairy Jamaluddin said Petronas should reveal in detail its accounts as the people have a right to know where the national oil company gets its revenue from.
Khairy said petroleum in the country "belongs to the people" and that Petronas was merely the custodian of the resource.
"I do not know why it (Petronas) is not revealing its accounts in detail. I believe the people have a right to know as petrol found in the country belongs to the people.
"Petronas is one of the best-run companies and I am sure there is nothing that can't be defended in their accounts.
"If detailed information on its accounts are not revealed to the public, the people will continue to be suspicious. I hope the government will consider revealing the detailed accounts of Petronas publicly," he said.

Immediately after Khairy's call, the super efficient Second Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop replied and said Petronas will explain its accounts next week.
Nor Mohamed said Petronas president and CEO Hassan Merican will provide the explanation.

Lim Kit Siang has come out in support of the call by Khairy Jamaluddin for Petronas’s detailed statement of accounts be tabled in parliament.
Kit Siang said it would be an appropriate move to explain to the people so that they would understand the real situation of the national petroleum company, besides its responsibility to the people.

its time Malaysian citizens be treated as shareholders of Petronas as it belongs to all Malaysians.
it should be accountable to all Msians. via the parliament.
the profits/dividends should be distributed directly to Msian citizens.

let's open up the book & be judged THE TRUE!
Petronas IS NOT one of the best-run. She is JUST ONE of the luckiest among the crook!
What about other GLC's accounts... must play by the same rule isn't it?
Jefus,
If ever that is done, then, we will see the resemblance to Pertamina.
Gukita,
There will be no end to all these. In management, trust is the most fundamental and in the absence, complexities and suspicions accelerate the demise and disintegration. So what is most needed is integrity, trust and competence which must be the absolute corporate belief and of the value system.
Ada udang di sebalik ahli parlimen !
Ahhh wait and see
figure. If make to public is good move but How many really understand. We need clear briefing and explanation rather then just make to public.
Knowledge combined with understanding is a simple way to remove the variation between public and goverment.
Many years they defied requests for tranparency..suddenly super efficient decision to bare all...cynical I am.
I think Team AAB is doing this to expose the "wrongdoings" of Tun in Petronas.
Artchan,
It may be so; but we'll wait for more info.
Mave,
I agree absolutely. But are we there yet; where all the professional bodies are giving their professional services with utmost competence and integrity?
On the other hand..AAB can start something but not finish it..so Tun has nothing to worry.
He initiated a royal commission on Lingamgate...and TDM was implicatred and was hantam kaukau..but after that nothing happen. Then we have Ian Chin's revelation. According to his henchman Zaid..no action to be taken.
This Chicken of a PM is just trying to play bluff with Tun. AAB is equally efficient in the corrupt system, but is no match for the Tun when it come to going for the kill
Gukita,
It is evolutionary; as long as the system abide with integrity, competency and efficiency are resultant in itself.
Artchan,
You must understand that AAB do not want antagonism but TDM are so persistent with his dogmas.
Mav..
AAB got no guts to faceoff with Tun..so he is using machais to do his bidding.
That is why I call him Chicken.
PETRONAS was given a mere sum of $20 MM at the onset of its birth. it is now the only Malaysian company that cracked the high echelon of Forbes & Fortune. It has even earned the status of the New Seven Sisters of the oil industry for its excellence in mgmt, technical & competetiveness..
Jefus, i've read most of your posts..and i failed to detect any presence of facts whatsoever in it. how sad.
if you want to see corruption, just google GLCs other than PETRONAS.
why do nobody gives rat ass when TNB ceo got 100% raise recently??
i am a petroleum engineer for PETRONAS, and i earn the same basic salary with my HR, procurement, contract analysts when i can earn 5 times more outside of the company.
because i appreciate what this business entity is all about.
do you, Jefus?

Artchan,
You do have your point. I just don't know whether he was afraid of TDM or anything else; it seems there's other reasons.
Marquisx,
As a Petronas engineer, your viewpoints are a form of truism. I can accept your view.
However, I wonder whether you would consider the fact that you pay nothing for the oil itself which was generated by the divine.
That apart, we do not deny the contributions of the good management within the system as compared to all other GLCs.
I don't understand why politician and peoples bother a lot of what PETRONAS has being doing with their money, but not asking government where/how their allocate and spent the money that PETRONAS gave to the government.
yes, PETRONAS is only a trustee of national resources, n PETRONAS and all of his staff aware of that, but please don’t expect that PETRONAS’s employee working just for free/SEDEKAH. Its too good for Malaysian that have PETRONAS’s employee who willing to work for low payment compared to other oil/gas industry in the world. For info, PETRONAS business is not only in Malaysia, PETRONAS exploring oil/gas business overseas. So, is the money that PETRONAS got from overseas business should make public? Overseas oil/gas not belong to all Malaysian isn’t? But, PETRONAS still do their part to the country.
