The government has cut petrol and diesel prices by 10 sen each to RM2.45 and RM2.40 per litre effective from tomorrow.
The prime minister said the recent fall in world oil prices plus the weakening of the ringgit gave the government a window of opportunity to lower local pump prices.
With Hari Raya imminent, Pak Lah hoped the reduction would help to lighten the burden of Muslims who spend more during the festive season.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shahrir Abdul Samad said the reduction of prices was made ahead of the Hari Raya celebrations next week.

Though the government had initially planned to only adjust fuel prices at the beginning of each month, the cabinet of Pak Lah and Shahrir decided to reduce it a week earlier this month so that the Muslims would have something to celebrate.
With this great news, the Muslims should now have a much happier and merrier Hari Raya.
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
NOTE:
The inflation rate has jumped to a 27-year high of 8.5 percent in August, driven by the escalating cost of food and fuel, according to official data released today.
After releasing August's Consumer Price Index (CPI), Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Shahrir Samad said he does not expect September's inflation to be much lower.
"Although, the full effects of the petrol price reductions in August and now have not been fully factored in yet, September CPI may not be much lower.
"The lower petrol prices is expected to be offset by the increase spending during Hari Raya holidays and the 30 percent surcharge on public transportation," said Shahrir.
But the minister does expect the CPI to have peaked.
On a positive note, Shahrir said that inflation seems to have stabilised.

So, let's be positive. Inflation has stabilized at 8%!!!

To them, 8% is nothing.
Even Najib at the MOF, says, our economic is good, and can stand the global attacking storm.
Easily, if the inflation rises from 8 % to 24 %, we are still good, positive thinking that is.
Let them manage then, and let the inflation continue to soar.
Still we are cemerlang, gemilang, and terbilang...
If inflation stabilized at 8% p.a., Malaysia will be in deep shit.
Our GDP is less than 6% p.a. and if we net off the inflation rate of 8% , we will have negative real GDP.
For 50-litre fuel tank.
After RM0.10 reduction per litre,
able to save RM5.00 per tank.
Balik kampung oh oh...(3X)
Hati girang.
KL-PEN (full tank)
PENANG (........?)
PEN-KL (full tank again!)
Total saving RM10.00.
Wow! That's a lot!
Terima kasih banyak-banyak, PM 2-B!
Zubli Zainordin,
You are great; we must be positive.
KIMHO8,
That's a good saving. $10 can buy a lot of things.
Yes, maverick sm.
With our income and potential incomes, lots of job opportunities, plus national stabilizing inflation rate at about plus/minus 8 %, so, with $10, one can buy a lot of things. Including sweets, minus the chemicals, of course.
That is why, a leader such as Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, if he so prefers, he can be supported to lead the nation until 2100.
i don't believe him. I only believe him when he says that he is not going to reduce fuel price, then the fuel will be reduced.
Maybe 10 sen is not that much, but it helps i guess, especially for those who's going to travel during this hari raya. And of course the traffic jam and all will just mean more petrol being wasted on the road.
I think it is a good move and I hope the price will go down further.

Biting. :)
This comes from a PM who only a few weeks ago realised the sufferings of those using the Trains and Lrts during peak hours.
(Or was that a ploy to justify the purchase of more trains and thus benefitting we know who?)
Lost leh.
Selamat Hari Raya.
Thanks Pok Loh. For every 20 litres refill i can save to buy a roti canai and teh-O. Better than nothing!
Arggh...!!!
10 sen reduction will not change the size of my roti prata which had, shrunken smaller to no bigger than a CD!
My teh-tarik is also many shades lighter!
