Nationalism & Patriotism Redefined

Tok Pa said:

Money is not everything

Datuk Mustapa Mohamed told students in London that they must have a strong sense of nationalism and patriotism, and should return home to serve the Government after completing their studies.

Money isn't everything? Depends!

If you need money to pursue your education, and your parents don't have them; PSD won't grant you a scholarship; you can't get loan unless you put up adequate collaterals (which you don't have); then, you will surely know that MoNeY is EVeryTHing!

If you had graduated and found a job in Kuala Lumpur, receiving a miserly $2,000-$3,000 per month, where you had to pay rent of $1,000/month; borrowed some money from relatives to foot the downpayment to buy a car need to drive you to work; pay monthly car installments of $700; the toll fees of $300/month had to be budgeted which eat-up your income; fuel cost you $300/month; car parking tickets another $450/month (for season parking at Shell Bhd); the 3-meals day would cost you $1,000/month; YOU would be left with credits each month which could be financed by credit-card or Ah Long ... then you surely know that MoNeY is EVeryTHing!

Then, you walk around town, read the newspapers, and hear from coffee shops how State EXCOs and Ministers had spent tens of millions to built bungalows, acquires new celebrity wifes, and you realise that they had often call upon you to sacrifice and work for a miserly pay based on a strong sense of nationalism and patriotism; and you may have to ponder ... but it's useless to ponder because you have given up a well-paid job in London in order to serve your nation in the civil service, earning a miserly $2,000 a month, now laden with massive debts and the only savior left to you is but, the Ah Longs who trusted you and who didn't asked you to come up with any collaterals for the loans you badly needed to pay the mammoth medical bills incurred by your parents at the medical centers in Subang MC, Sunway MC or Gleneagles; then you know, money was everything and without which you now had to pawn your soul to pay the day-to-day bills!

Mustapa said students should be proud to serve the government despite the fact that they will receive exceptionally low financial rewards.

"We don't have such deep pockets. "Money should not be everything," Mustapa told Malaysian students in a dialogue.

Tho' the government surely don't have deep pockets, but it has deep-leaking pockets.

The government had to compensate $100 million to Gerbang Perdana for the scrap Crooked-Bridge, a contract awarded 3-weeks before the decision to abandon it.

The CIQ project extension for the linking road will cost the government $250 million without a tendering process; a close-door negotiated process where most contractors would be happy to do the same job for half the price.

A 55% hike in the cost of 7.5km Sentul-Batu Caves Double Rail Track project price were allowed to increase by $230 million from RM420 million to RM650 million when independent valuers found the RM420 million price agreed for the project in 2003 before it was suspended was exceptionally overly high as there were parties willing to do it for even less than RM350 million.

East Coast Highway has gone up by RM340mil from RM1.7 billion to RM2.1 billion.

The RM490 million Sports Training Centre in London and RM6 million a year allocation by the Sports Ministry for the biweekly sports tabloid Malaysia Today.

The Beneficiaries of the new regime ... the law of coincidences!!!

Scomi Group Bhd will submit a bid for a contract worth some RM120 million to make body parts for 400 buses for state-owned Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd.

Scomi is also pitching for another job from a big GLC (government-linked company) to manage its fleet of 6,000 vehicles.

Scomi Group Bhd is believed to have won a contract worth as much as RM50 million from KTM Bhd, the national railway company, to overhaul and maintain its wagons.

Scomi Engineering Bhd is acquiring a 51% stake in MTrans Transportation Systems Sdn Bhd for RM30 million to provide it a platform to be a key player in urban transportation.

Scomi Engineering had on April 28 signed an agreement with Kiara Kilau Sdn Bhd, which owns 100% stake in MTrans, to acquire the 51% stake. MTrans owns bus manufacturer MTRans Bus Sdn Bhd and MTRans Technology Bhd, which specialises in monorail systems and technology.

Scomi Engineering senior vice president Hilmy Zaini said the strategic acquisition is in line with its focus on energy and logistics engineering.

Khairy Jamaluddin, the son-in-law of PM, has bought a stake in financial advisory firm ECM Libra Bhd. Khairy bought a total of about 13 million shares, or a 3 percent stake, the purchase is valued at about $9.2 million (which is now worth more than double).

Tho' money can't buy me love, but it pays for everything my love ones need and wanted.

Tho' money cannot ensure longetivity, but it pays for the medical bills and health food and supplement that keeps us at optimum health.

Tho' money won't ensure I can pass my unversity exam, but it pays my tuition fees that kept me in college for the full duration and comes in handy should I need to repeat or refer.

Tho' money is not everything, but it is something we can't live without!

Tho' money ... fuck-off ... I need them and don't tell me how and why! Give me money and I shall give you my nationalism and patriotism.

You want money? Join UMNO and carry and curry Khairy's balls!!!

Oi Tok Pa, aku tau lah u punya boss dulu ada duit suka hantam dada nak jadi jaguh kampung, maruah bangsa bla, bla, yadda, yadda, bina KLCC, bina Sepang, tapi kami rakyat papa kedana, nak pergi luar negeri pun kena jual rumah, jual kereta. So, tolong sikit, hantam dada kata patriotik tidak akan hidang makanan atas meja atau "patriotism will not put food on table". Terima kasih.
