Malay-sians & the dons

Stop calling "Indons"; that derogatory!

NST Reports:

Umno Youth deputy chief Khairy Jamaluddin said most Malaysians were unaware that the term was not used in Indonesia and that Indonesians were offended by its usage here.

Speaking at the Malaysian-Indonesian (Malindo) Dialogue 2008, he urged "Malay-sians" to be more sensitive to the feelings of Indonesians.

"The Malaysian media should lead the way by doing away with the term, to avoid causing ill feelings."

Khairy said words and terms which caused anger or hurt a person's feelings should be avoided as they could be used by irresponsible parties to fan discontentment.

Indonesian delegate Hamkam Noor said the term "Indonesian" denoted the identity of the country's people and the truncated word was belittling to them.

NST report:

The championing of Malay privileges should not end because the economic environment is always changing, Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz said.

Speaking to a gathering of Gagasan Badan Ekonomi Melayu (Gabem) members, she said the issue of Malay rights had to continue as Malaysia's economy grew and adapted to changes and external forces.

"Some people ask why the Malays are forever asking for their economic rights. This is because the economic structure changes over time.

"In the 1970s, Malays debated among themselves on how to get contracts to build schools or mosques. There was nothing else because the economy was that way. It was dependent on government contracts.

"Now, we have a new generation of Malays who are not debating about winning government contracts, but about how to enter new fields, like information technology.

"They are also looking at winning contracts abroad, taking their business overseas.

"It is a different economic context. So, that is why the debate should continue," Rafidah said.

So, what is Rafidah saying? Is she telling us that the Malays are not only looking for privileges in domestic projects but that the privilege is extended to international projects? But how? Does she mean that the government will be providing the projects abroad or that the government will be seeking the other countries to grant special privileges and rights to the Malays? Would the international companies abroad be willing to succumb to the pressures exerted by the Malaysian government? Would European countries and Americans grant 30% privileges to our Malays to participate in their economy? Is this a demand? Or, is this a request to the international entities?

What is this?

VIP worried?

Use anti-spy device?

I thought they say, use face mask for safe sex?

Is it so unsafe?

Ya!!!!

Are Indons that insecure? I don't think so. It's something else if you shorten Malaysia or Malaysians to Malay (and even then that should not be demeaning) but in the case of Indon, I think it's more the pronunciation (it should be in-don as in Don Corleone, and NOT in-don as in in-don't).

The Indons are so fond of abbreviating that I find this Indon being an insult rather baffling. My maid is an Indon (as in Don King) and hails from Jatim (Java Timur).

Bro Rocky,

I share the same opinion with you, but the politicians don't think so.

However, they forget that one MP called the Indians, Keling.

what has spycam for politicians gotat do with the rising crime rate for the past few years?
so that the police doesnt have to deploy rseources to catch those who possess videos of politicians with their pants down. instead they can be used to patrol high crime areas?
what a moron.

'Indon' rhymes with 'ding-dong' which is insulting because the word "dong" is slang for penis.

Cannot understand how the word Indon is so touchy. But somehow coming from the SIL's mouth, it sounded like a joke.

As for Malays entering new fields and expanding their horizons, this is a good thing. What has it got to do with the Govt? C'mon lar, you think those foreign companies/investor will award contract to anyone just because of their skin color? Rafidah is forgetting other upcoming Asian prospect like Vietnam, India, China, Thailand.. etc etc.

Think those angmoh no other place to invest meh?

waving & kissing kerises does not offend people?

wanting to "bathe" the keris in chinese blood not offensive?

or does Khairy mean msians (other than protected specie) is subject to open season?

There should be no offending people by color, race, beliefs or handicaps -FULL STOP.

Start at home Khairy.

Tell YOUR own umno members to walk the walk before you talk the talk.

however it should still be open season on corruption, & non-performance on those "public servants" ripping Msia off!

Actually, macik Dah want to say "UMNO elite privileges will still be championed"

But since "UMNO elites" may be offended, so they change it to "Malay".

The SIL & Miss Piggy are so full of shit, not surprising that no one takes any notice of what they expound.
The rest of the clowns are afraid of their own shadows.
NST has all the news that no right thinking Malaysian wants to hear.

Lucia,

She is talking to the gallery, the UMNO gallery.

Helen,

Nobody can understand the desperation of the UMNOputeras.

Gobloking,

I agree that humility and respect of other races must start from UMNO itself bcoz they are lacking.

Moo_t,

You sound correct.

Mr Khairy should take care of his problems first before going head to head with others. I am flabbergasted with his issue of co-operating with Mat Rempits(Menace to society). Now he is trying to be smart again. (Good Lord..what are teaching him in Cambridge!!) Why can he learn to keep his mouth shut? A guy who has no work and political experience is making headline all the time with his superficial comments. Anyone here could help me get a Masking/Loytape(Buatan Malaysia) pls??
