Losers Virtue

Pak Lah defended his decision not to resign and take responsibility for the massive defeat of Barisan Nasional.

"I still have support of UMNO members," says PM.

He was right! There's still the UMNO members who gave him unanimous support.

And of course, the Barisan Nasional leaders such as Samy Vellu, Ong Ka Ting, Najib, Rafidah Aziz, Muhammad Taib, Nor Mohamad Yakcop, Hishamuddin and Khairy had expressed their undivided support for him.

Pak Lah believes that it was luck and feng shui that cause his defeat. That arse feng shui master help pick 8308 (March 8, 2008) as polling day and tells Pak Lah it was auspicious day and "Pak Sam Hau" (slam his heart) with guarantees that it would be a massive win. The master was half right - it was a massive win, but for BR, not BN. The feng shui master must be illiterate in Roman letters - BR, he sees it as BN; R or N - he can't differentiate.

But the most profound statement comes from our hero Samy Vellu.

Samy said: "Every good things has to come to an end but there is always a new beginning."

To Samy, his political career has a new beginning, and he will stay on as MIC president to spearhead this new beginning for MIC.

It's true; it will be a new beginning for MIC; the beginning of the end of Samy the president. The MIC will take a long time to recover, if ever they could. First and foremost, they have yet to acknowledged the fact that they had failed the Indians. In the philosophy of turnaround, an institution or individual must pass through the phase of denial to the phase of acknowledgment of failure before they could enter the phase of correction and reconstruction. MIC is still in the state of denial and Samy says he is not at all feeling unhappy. But Samy said he will continue to be MIC president, and restructure and rebuild the party.

"We have to move in the direction where the wind is blowing and we hope one day will come when the new wave will be with us," Samy promised his people. What a great philosophy; except that it's illusionary.

Meanwhile, there's one man who have the guts and courage to admit defeat and fully takes the blame.

Koh Tsu Koon says he is fully responsible for Gerakan's defeat and volunteered to give up his presidency. The only problem is, he's only an acting-president, which means he can't give up something he is not mandated by his party members. At such, Gerakan had to convene the AGM or EGM to elect a new president.

Koh Tsu Koon truly demonstrate the virtues of a great leader. In fact, he asked CM-designate Lim Guan Eng to have the swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday instead of today as he has to be in KL to attend Pak Lah's ceremony and he wanted to be present at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Penang Chief Minister. That's the strength and characteristics of a great leader.

they are already irrelevant... lets turn the other cheeks & leave these pathetic fools alone.

for us that vote for change & got it, these fools are as good as dead.

For once, I have great respect to Koh Tsu Koon.

Look at the body language when he met with new MB Lim Guan Eng, so gracious.

I salute Koh Tsu Koon for being a gentleman even in defeat.

Abdullah may be an incompetent PM, but he is a gentleman in accepting GE 12 major setback for BN.

If Mahathir or Najib is the Premier , these two blokes may trick the king to declare emergency and suspend parliament to hold on to absolute power.

He was once labeled the graceful Tai Chi Master when that defeated the dragon. Now he still represented that ideal; its the spirit that makes a Sifu, not the victory.

Samy is a great talker and he proves that by the statement. A new beginning is usually by fresh blood. BUt Samy had been chopping heads for so long, where can there be a fresh blood.

Koh is certainly a gracious leader. The way he conducted the announcement conceding defeat already showed that he's a gentlemen.

Samy? Wow..... as if his face is not thick enough, he now wanna scrap the skin of his ass n stick it to thicken his face.

badawi? hm... it's good tat he admitted defeat. wat else he should do? he should take tis opportunity b4 UMNO election to clean up judiciary and get rid of KJ. wif tat he will still earn a place in the nation's history. if not, leaving abruptly wil expose the nation to another devil najob.

Koh ofcourse has to resign because his party lost everything and he lost penang.

The others, didnt lose everything.

And what is this reference to HARAKIRI?
Harakiri is a jap thing!.

If Dr Koh is brave enough, he should take Gerakan out of BN and transform the party into a respected multi-racial opposition party, like what it used to be.

As for MCA and MIC, time to rewrite their party constitutions perhaps? Race-based politics is OUT.

this Koh Tsu Koon is like "Big Eye, Small Eye" whilst Samy Vellu is like "Big Eye, Black Mouth" similar to TATA Diesel Lorry that polluting the environment.

in the new political scene, both are "irrelevant" - preferred quote by Augustine Paul, another Drunken Master of decade ago.

bright idealism and professional leaders of the PKR-DAP-PAS will soon make BN winners cross-over to PKR to form new Government, after Anwar Ibrahim goes into Parliamentary by-election in May 2008!

wait and see.

Augustine Paul must be thanking his lucky stars that Anwar's coalition did not suceed in forming the new government. Had BN fallen, the first "guest" to be "invited" to Anwar's presence would be old uncle Augus Paul

you heard AAB in the news - he now welcome any pembangkang who wish to join BN ........

CMBSS & Gan,

I tend to agree with you.

Gukita,

You are absolutely right; what makes a man virtuous is his humility; that's what the Prophet said.

CK Tan,

If Pak Lah had done what you have said, then the DAP-PKR would be dead and cremated. It takes a mistake for another to succeed.

Warrior2,

You may be right; but it takes a virtuous person to act what Koh did. An example is Samy Vellu who do not think he should resign as he believed it is a new beginning.

Harakiri is Mahathir's doctrine which I do not subscribe and it doesn't concern the Jap in our context.

Denzook,

AAB needs to garner support system; he needs more oxygen.

Ex-CM of Penang can do this...
But where is Tajul Rosli?
Where is Khir Toyo?...
Where is Samy Vellu?...
Got no balls anymore to confront the media?...

Make any statement about their loss...
How Disgrace this is to see BN Leaders/MB's accepting their loss...

I was really disgusted watching the PM's press conference. I wasn't one who was calling for the PM to resign, but looking for evidence that he "gets the message" from last weekend's elections.

That was no subtle message from the electorate - it was a roar, a kick in the a*se for BN, to wake up, make changes. But Bedol is still talking about the BN manifesto, basically business as usual.

I still think he is personally a decent man, but he is simply not the right person to make the necessary changes in the country's policies.

If BN wants to end up as an opposition party in the Parliament, Bedol is the right person to lead them there.
