SOCSO COMPENSATES VICTIM - 84 CENTS A DAY

Socso 84 cents worth Posted by Hello

IS IT SUCK-SO OR SOCIAL SECURITY SOCSO?

A rubber tapper who broke her ankle three years ago received compensation from Socso at a daily compensation of only 84 sen, Sin Chew Daily reported. The 53-year-old plantation worker, known as Chaka, lodged a complaint with the Pahang Consumers’ Association and sought help to file an appeal with Socso. She said she broke her ankle in June 2001 when she fell while tapping rubber. Two doctors assigned by Socso initially diagnosed her as having lost the ability to work. She was entitled to a monthly compensation of RM400. Chaka said Socso later reviewed her case and when two other doctors came out with a different diagnosis, it overruled the earlier findings.

As a result, she was only entitled to a daily compensation of 84 sen, or RM25.20 a month, until the age of 65. “For a person who cannot work, how do I survive on 84 sen a day?” she asked.

Socso collects multi-millions each year - what do they do with the money? Isn't those money meant to help workers who suffers from accidents? Is Socso trying to copy CIDB's strategic plan of taking the collections from contributors and investing in projects overseas?

I am not sure why Pak Lah till today won't do anything about CIDB and Socso, both organization that collects billions without serving the benefits of the stakeholders except, probably those directors within. Would the Royal Commission headed by Tun Dzaiddin and ACA also investigate them? We now have SUCK-SO & SO (SOCSO) AND CORRUPTORS OF CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BASTARDS (CIDB)
