Paradox of the Toyoed House

They bought the land for RM6.4 million many years ago.

They then agreed to sell to me at RM3.5 million.

Why? Why they sell to me so cheap?

Because, Willing Buyer, Willing Seller!

So, that's proof that the house is not RM24 million as claimed by DAP Sekinchan YB Ng Suee Lim.The house cost only Rm3.5 million!


But, that house cannot cost only RM3.5 million. How can that be possible when the land cost RM3.5m; what about the construction of the Mansion?

Em, but aren't we talking about cost? That's the land cost!

But, what about the design and construction cost of the exclusive mansion?

That, that is ... immaterial ... it is not what was paid; it's free - the bricks was from abandoned projects somewhere in Klang Valley, the laborers were Indonesians who were not paid at all as the Immigration officers arrested them and deported them; the other construction materials were samples ... and some were gifts ...


But ... there's still many other costs that would have been incurred to finished and complete the building as it can be seen?

Well, so far no one billed for it; so consider it as free lah!!!

Would it be RM24 million worth?

Well, if you asked the property valuer, today, yes lah! But if you asked me, I tell you it is not what I paid for; I paid only RM3.5 million, that's all!!!

So, is it true that your house is worth RM24 million?

Yes and No! Yes, if you asked the Valuer today; No, if you asked me how much I actually paid!

Then, what is the truth?

The truth is ... No truth and No Lies! Truly, my house is worth more than RM24 million today; truthfully, I did not pay for it - I'm not sure if there's anyone who had subsidize it, but that's not my fault as I never demanded that they do it for me or on my behalf ... I never insist, I never corrupt!!!

Is that somewhat connected to corruption of power?

Fuck you, as I am not in power now and you can't blame me as i have no power now!

Blame the keris, not the broom

Khir said it had created negative perceptions of Umno and possibly caused the swing in non-Malay votes towards the opposition.

Khir believe that if the gesture is offensive in some quarters and is seen to send out negative signals, then it should be stopped.

“We must admit our mistakes. If we don’t, the rakyat will call us arrogant,” he said in an interview.

According to Khir Toyo, "The keris perhaps is a symbol of power, a symbol of supremacy, but for the Malays it means nothing. Maybe it’s different for the Chinese".

Q: So do you agree that the keris culture should be eliminated?

Khir: "Yes, why not? If it’s negative, we should stop using it. We have to admit our mistakes. Admitting mistakes is a courageous thing to do."

Q: Meaning that you want to bring Umno back to its old idealism?

Khir: "We have to become the voice of the people, and not the government."

Khir: "I am talking and I will continue to do that. I believe that the voice of the youth is the voice of the rakyat."

Khir: "We must be brave to express the truth. We cannot be controlled. If we are controlled in an independent nation, it means that we are not free. Expressing ideas cannot be seen as a bad thing. As a supreme council member entrusted to be the voice of the people, I will continue to speak up. I might not be able to be direct in my expression. I am a local and as a local I am raised to be polite so I will say something like ‘exit plan’."

Khir toyoed Samy; Samy koyoed Thir

Ex-Selangor MB Dr Mohd Khir Toyo today exposes Samy Vellu and claimed that Samy was the chief culprit behind the controversial demolition of the Kampung Rimba Jaya Hindu temple near Shah Alam - he now claims that MIC president S Samy Vellu had instructed him to do so.

“Samy Vellu called me on the night of Nov 15 and told me that Hindraf (Hindu Rights Action Force) people had infiltrated the temple and that it must be demolished that night itself,” alleged Khir.

Now that he is no longer MB Khir Toyo is more daring to expose all the misdeed and wrongs of his fellow colleagues rather than taking the full blame himself.

However, Samy Vellu refuted Khir Toyo's claim. Samy Vellu also pointed out that during the demolition exercise, enforcement officers had only targeted the temple and not the houses.

"This showed their hatred for the temple," he stressed.

The MIC president also disclosed that he telephoned Khir several times and politely asked him not to demolish the temple since it was Deepavali time.

"But he kept saying that a court order had been obtained. So I thought this man is not going to listen.

Asked why the former menteri besar was so adamant in wanting to demolish the temple, Samy Vellu said that Khir "wanted to prove a point."

He said when Abdullah had asked Khir about the matter, the latter once again cited the court order as an excuse.

"I am surprised by his statement. How can I tell him to demolish a temple which was already demolished?" Samy asked.

"It was under his order that more than 500 enforcement personnel from the local authorities from various districts came to demolish just one temple.

"If all local authorities were to send enforcement officers to Shah Alam, who could have given such a directive except him," Samy said.

"I told him 'You are not only destroying your political career, you will also destroy my political career if you continue with the demolition'.

"He just said 'no, no such thing'."

Khir Toyo exposes the Special Branch

Khir Toyo revealed in an exclusive interview with Malaysiakini that the Special Branch officers were used to provide informations regarding voters to facilitate the Barisan Nasional and Umno to gauge the voters sentiments prior to the March 08 general election.

Now we should know why the police do not have time to investigate Sharlinie's kidnap case as the police force have many other duties imposed by the Barisan Nasional & Umno leaders other than to their normal tasks and duties to tackle crimes and maintain peace and order.

Some notable revelations by Khir Toyo:

"Political parties must become the voice of the rakyat, not the government... (but) politicians responded on behalf of the government (on issues) like the (increased) price of fuel and basic goods, saying that the government can’t do much about it. They began showing formulae used to calculate the prices when all the people wanted was for political parties to listen to them and address their problems.

"We have to become the voice of the people but it’s the other way around now. I hope that Umno Youth especially can become the voice of the people now."

“I started getting negative feelings when (former Finance Minister and Umno treasurer) Daim Zainuddin said five states would fall to the opposition. As Selangor Umno chief, I couldn’t say it out loud as it would have dampened the spirits of party members,” he said.

Umno does not form the government - the BN does. Umno members must represent the will of the people and must press the government to safeguard the interests of the people.

As leaders we have to admit our mistakes and change things. When I concede mistakes, I try to change and I hope that others will follow suit.

We need to start. We must. In fact I was thinking, the separation between the party and the government must be clear. To me, the party president should concentrate on consolidating the party, as is done in India.

Excerpts of the interview

Q: What about the so-called ‘cyber-war’ between you and Muhammad Muhd Taib?

Khir: I wouldn’t describe it as a cyber-war. As an Umno supreme council member and a blogger, I vowed in my first posting that I would tell the truth and I have been trained to tell the truth. Even though the truth is painful, I have no qualms about telling it. Even the Umno president has told all party members to tell the truth and that is what I am doing.

Q:What is the reaction in Umno? You are among leaders deemed to be vocal and consistent with your views...

Khir: There are pros and cons to (being labelled as such), but I only wish to tell the truth..

Q: What truth are you talking about? Are you talking about transition of power?

Khir: If that is what Umno members, bloggers and the rakyat want, we must express it and it is up to the leadership to decide how to react to it. Don’t let things come to a point where the rakyat say that we are not delivering the right information. This is possibly one reason why Umno was defeated so badly in the March 8 polls. To me, truth is important.

Q: So what is the problem? Why is it that the party top leadership did not get the right information? It was impossible for Umno to predict the election outcome. You managed to identify eight hot seats in Selangor and MCA disagreed with you.

Perhaps the reports given to the leadership came from only one party, for example, the Special Branch officers.

These officers are often Malays and can only provide information regarding Malay voters and not the other races. So it’s hard for us to get real information.

Khir Toyo & his Coffin Money

Khir Toyo: “You wrote that the fine paid by PKNS was people’s money. No, PKNS is a private company.”

(note: PKNS was imposed fines totalling RM330,000 for illegal clearing of land around the Bukit Cahaya Agricultural Park and at all material times, Mohd Khir was its chairman.)

Then Khir Toyo made a remarkable statement:

“The fine goes back to the state coffin! (I’m sure he meant “coffers” but those at the lunch looked stunned when he used the word a second time). The money comes back to us.”

Not wanting to argue with someone who has little knowledge of where the fines imposed by a court of justice end up and not wanting to give him a free lesson in financial procedures, I reserved my comments.

Today, PKNS is in the news again. Here’s a summary of what it paid out to Balkis, the organisation of wives of state assemblymen and MPs in Selangor.

• RM218,719 for the opening ceremony of Komplex Wawasan Balkis;

• RM200,000 for the Balkis dinner;

• RM10,000 for a table at the same dinner; and

• RM161,660 for programmes organised by Balkis.

Balkis for all intent and purposes was an organisation that received funds and other forms of financial help from the state government. The mentri besar’s wife occupies the seat of the president and the members of the committee are elected among the wives.

Just like Mohamad Khir deemed PKNS a private entity, his wife Datin Seri Zaharah Kechik saw Balkis as a “sendirian berhad”. How else could she call for a meeting and dissolve the organisation and transfer funds running into millions?

Doesn’t the constitution say that the president should be the mentri besar’s wife? As of March 9, her hubby was no longer the mentri besar and therefore, she automatically relinquishes her post. But no, giving up power and influence does not come easy.

Leaving that issue aside, where else did our money, (oops! PKNS money as Mohamad Khir sees it) end up?

Khir Toyo: "Apple to Apple" vs Pak Lah's "Grape & Apple"

After Pak Lah cried about the grapes and apple, now we have Khir the Toyo who declared that Selangor will compete with Singapore "apple to apple" in five years.

I just can't stop laughing! This Khir is really toyo-ed and his line of argument made him a rigmarole with a puerile mindset. "Apple to Apple"? What's Selangor's GDP? Just look at the problems of urban poverty and the competitiveness and business efficiency of Selangor... he just don't understand macroeconomics!!!

I think if he tries to compare corruption and kleptocracy, Selangor should beat not only Singapore, but almost all other states.

Can any of you economist or psuedo-economist give me a table of comparison so that I can sent it to the Khir?

RTD Tornados & Broom Award

What does it mean?

It must mean their officers have always provided those privileges to lorries and trucks who are given special protection and immunities.

The logos include symbols and words such as: "Transnet", "Bob", "Dotuk", "TNS" and "SYT" which apparently enable "tontos" and "RTD Tornados" to identify lorries under their "protection".

The tontos and tornados would monitor the roads would then warn the lorry drivers by walkie-talkies on "unprivileged" roadblocks and "enemy" checks.

Pak Lah: Broom not dignified.

Pak Lah do not agree with Khir Toyo on Brooms. He said brooms are not dignified and he prefers the use of more effective methods to enhance the performance of these agencies.

Abdullah said state governments should consider a “dignified” formula to discipline under-performing government agencies rather than use demeaning methods as the broom had slighted the feelings of the officers.

The officers felt humiliated and PM said the award should be scrapped. Abdullah said awards which are considered unnecessary or not well accepted by the majority should be avoided.

It is suggested that those underperformers should be given gold or diamond broom which is less demeaning. This way, the officers will not be humiliated and instead they would be far motivated.

There is no law to stop Khir Toyo

The land at Kampung Idaman, Pandamaran, Klang, originally comprised 8 small lots granted to 8 settlors under a Temporary Occupation Licence (TOL). However, Klang Municipal Council (MPK) later consolidated it into one lot (total 43,000sq. ft.) and sold it to Datin Zizah Ngah, Datuk Zakaria's wife, at a price of just RM180,000, a far cry from its estimated worth of RM1.3 million which is based on the lower end of the going rate for land in the area. Land in this area is usually priced at between RM30-40 per sq ft.

A proposal to built the bungalow was first submitted by his architect on DEc 23, 2002 and development plan submitted on Dec 14, 2004.

MPK could not process the plan approval because no planning fees(RM2,400) was paid.

However, the construction works proceeded till completion without the need for approval. The maximum fine for this wrongful act is 10 times the fees, that is, RM24,000. I'm sure Zakaria can afford to pay.

There is nothing in the law to say that a person must get the approval before building the house. All it said is that if you build a house without approval, you will be fined 10 times the fees.

There's no law to say that a person who failed to submit a building plan cannot be appointed as a councillor (Dr Khir contended).

There is no law to say that a person cannot rape another. What the law said is that rape is a crime and the sanction is jail term and is punitive.

There is nothing in the law to say that a man cannot be corrupt. All the law say is that if a person is indicted and found to be corrupt by the court, he was face jail sentence and may include fines.

That's Khir's philosophy. He is right, in literal sense. Afterall, there is no moral law.

Khir Toyo: Developers have to deposit 40% of Project Cost

ARE YOU REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT IT - THAT IS TO INSIST THAT DEVELOPERS HAVE TO DEPOSIT 40% PROJECT COST IN A BANK AS PERFORMANCE BOND, OR ARE YOU CAKAP SIA SIA SAHAJA?

To ensure that housing projects are not abandoned, Selangor wants developers to put 40% of the overall development cost in a bank before land conversion is carried out.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo said the 40% was based on past situations where projects were abandoned with 30% to 40% yet to be completed.

He said the requirement was to protect the interest of potential house and commercial property buyers.

“Forty percent is a justifiable amount. The requirement is based on the 36 abandoned projects in the state which had been left idle with 30 to 40% yet to be completed."

“With the 40% in the financial institution, it would act as a surety to ensure that the project is completed."

“With this mechanism we feel it would give birth to developers with excellence,” he said.

He said the state would also put a stop to the unscrupulous method of developers who used the buyer’s initial and progress payments to push through a housing project to rake in the profits upon completion.

Dear MB, its a fantastic idea!!!! But do you & your EXCO members have the balls to implement that requirement or you are just poking pointers at some developers so that they come running to you and your EXCOs to negotiate at the mamak stall?
