Jegathesan: Athens Olympic Considered a "SUCCESS"

Jegathesan Olympic Report Posted by Hello

"ATHENS NOT A FAILURE FOR OUR MALAYSIAN TEAM," Says Jegathesan.

"So, there is no need to press the panic button yet,” said OCM President Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar.

The Athens Olympics Chefs-de-Missions presented their report to the Olympic Council of Malaysia yesterday together with the Vietnam Sea Games report.

In the Athens report, Datuk Dr. M. Jegathesan did not term the Athens Olympic a failure for Malaysia because:

THE ATHLETES HAD BELIEVED THEY COULD WIN MEDALS BUT CIRCUMSTANCES DERAILED THEM FROM WINNING!!!!!!

“Athens was not a failure, but CAN BE SEEN AS A SUCCESS OF SORT because of the 26 Malaysian athletes, 22 were there on merit while only 4 were wild cards. Malaysia also took part in 11 disciplines and this itself can be termed as ‘success’,” concluded Dr Jegathesan.

The comparative study and analysis was based on the fact that Vietnam who won "by a mile" in the last Sea Games in Hanoi only had 17 qualifiers for Athens. That means, Malaysia had more qualifiers than Sea Games Champion Vietnam - Hurray, Malaysia Boleh! Malaysia is better than Sea Games Champion.

So, success and failures cannot be measured by the medals won but by the number of qualifiers and participants in the games; that what Dr. Jegathesan believed and also his boss in OCM, President Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja'afar concurred.

“So, the failure to win medals should not read as a failure of our programmes, and there is no need to press the panic button yet,” said OCM President Tunku Imran Tuanku Ja’afar.

What it means is: Why is Sports Minister Azalina pressing the panic button, as we are alright, so far, isn't it? So, why do we need a Cabinet committee to revamp the sports association and the programmes when we are alright?

Before the Games at Athens, Jegathesan gave the 16 Olympic-bound athletes and 6 coaches envelopes during the centralized training in Putrajaya for them to place their personal targets. The targets penned by the athletes were 2 gold, 1 bronze, 3-final spots, 1 semi-final, 1 quarter-final and 2 national records. “This showed that the athletes were taking the Games seriously and had high ambitions, but COULD NOT ACHIEVE THEM.”
To Dr. Jega, as long as the athletes believe they can win, it goes to show they had high ambition and THAT'S ENOUGH PROOF OF SUCCESS!

The questions that Jegathesan asked in his report were:

Was the cauldron of the highest level too much for our athletes to face?
Were they not really nurtured for this exercise?
Did they lack the killer instinct?
Did they throw away good chance?”

Jegathesan then said the X Factor, which made every single projected athlete fail, could be due to:

The “Hot Weather” which the athletes could not adjust to; (only Malaysian athletes cannot adjust to the weather as the Mat-Salleh is OK with the hot climate)
The high level of competition which could have had a salutary effect on our athletes,
Boredom (we didn't give our athletes some companion; we didn't bring along their families and girlfriends and boyfriends)
Nervousness (our athletes didn't take drugs; so feels nervous), and
The inability of the athletes to adapt to adverse conditions during the events (the athletes expects a better condition and a specific condition but during the competition, it was not what they expect - the condition was unexpected.....).

From the report of Dr Jega, it seem we can safely conclude, that we are DAMNNED alright, that we had actually achieved success but ONLY WITHOUT medals to bring home to show, that Malaysia Sports are on the absolutely RIGHT TRACK and DO NOT NEED CHANGE, and DEFINITELY, THOSE officials are doing a TREMENDOUSLY good job and DEFINITELY deserves promotion and a pay rise and PLEASE, NO foreign experts OR ANY FORM OF HELP are needed.

We will never learn any lesson. Mediocrity is part of our blood, especially for those officials in the sports associations. Meritocracy in sports means "Participation" and Not winning means "Giving chance to others to win". We are Malaysians and our officials wants us to believe them and keep trusting them for producing the same results.

I'm not sure those officials have ever heard or read the Tales of the Japanese-American Boat-Race.

Maybe, they don't; and even if they do, it doesn't matter as they are safe and sound in their association and nobody, not even the Ministers, dare to touch them. They have become THE UNTOUCHABLES OF THE SPORTING WORLD OF MALAYSIA.

CHEERIO TO MALAYSIAN SPORTS!!!!!!! PARTICIPATION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN MEDALS.

JUST KEEP SAYING THE SAME OLD REASONS AS THE X-FACTORS OF DR JEGATHESAN - IT WORKS!!!!! '
YOU CAN NOW FORECAST THE RESULTS OF BEIJING OLYMPICS - ANOTHER $200MILLION BUDGET!
