PTK Exam Marks Lowered

PTK Lower Marks Posted by Hello

31 Oct 2004, SundayStar report: COMMENTS

In order to make it easier for civil servants to qualify for promotion, the Government has decided to lower the passing mark for the Assessment of Efficiency Level (PTK) test from the previous 80% to 60%. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Samsuddin Osman said the lowering of the passing mark was part of the proposal to improve the PTK paper approved by the Cabinet Committee.

With this new decision, government servants can now be rest assured that their promotion and increment had been made easier and smoother. In the event they still cannot pass the 60% marks, I believe the government will definitely review the matter and probably reduce it to 20%, if needed be, so as to ensure that government servants will improve and be satisfied. Anyway, a test may not indicate a persons competency and so, passing the test or even failing is no indication of the quality of our government servants as we are quite proud of our Malaysian efficiencies and competencies. For that reason, the government had even developed a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) to measure productivity, efficiency and effectiveness of all government servant. Government servant should be rest assured that the KPI will be set at a standard measurement which are achievable by Malaysian Standards. If necessary, that level can also be adjusted to suit as it is all about political decision within UMNO-Boleh.
