TNB - Unbelievable at this age

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz was baffled when she was told that there were no power supply to various manufacturing factories in industrial zones. She was attending the Southern Region Investment and Trade dialogue held in Malacca.

Bruce Anson, the CEO of Quantum Structural membranes Sdn Bhd told her that his factory in Ayer Keroh Industrial Area had been without electricity eventhough they had paid RM32,200 in deposits to TNB. The answer given by TNB is that they had no budget for pipes. Rafidah asked a TNB officer present for an explanation. “How much did TNB made last year?” Rafidah asked. “RM1.4 billion” profit and TNB had no money to buy pipes.

BIM Technologies S/B had no power supply in Taman Tasik Utama which is located next to Malacca International Trade Centre.

Sungai Rambai Industrial Estate had power disruption problem every month despite paying all cost and deposits for upgarding the system to TNB.

Petronas Oil Refinery in Sg Udang said they lost RM86mil after several power cuts.

Rafidah said that an industrial areas with no power supply was an unacceptable situation.
Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Rustam said there must be something wrong with TNB administration.

Rafidah who is scheduled to leave for the United States to meet investors there said: “How am I going to tell the US investors in Silicon Valley to come to Malaysia but please don’t go to Taman Tasik Utama?”

“This is unbelievable and I never expect to hear all these in this age.”

“RM1.4 billion” profit and TNB had no money to buy pipes. Yet they are asking to increase tariff so that their profits can be further increase and Malaysians can be bankrupted faster.

That how the government had been quite helpful. Power supply problem, toll-road problem, MAS problem, Socso problem, EPF and RHB problem, etc, etc.

Government had made agreement with toll operators in such way that they are legally entitled to increase toll rates every 2-3 years of the 33 years Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) contract.

So, electricity is up, toll is up, fuel is up, taxi fare is up, inflation is up, CPI is up, ……Salary is at inertia and contractors are jobless, shops and restaurant business are down 50%, Khairy with ECM Libra and Scomi is doing well.

I have stopped thinking to buy new car after the AP issues are resolved. I am definitely not going to pay some RM40,000 for an AP to make someone richer...
