Warwick Manufacturing Celebrating its 25 Year


Congratulations to Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) for it's 25 years of excellence in Innovation and technology. IN the very words of British Prime Minister, "WMG is an outstanding example of combining academic excellence with industrial relevance - a unique international contribution, which we are all proud of."

For 25 years, Warwick Manufacturing Group has existed to improve the competitiveness of technology driven organization, helping them to get the best from their investments in people and technolgy.

WMG with five Centres, is physical base at Warwick University. The Research Centres comprise state-of-the-art equipment coupled with research teams formed from staff with both traditional academic and industrial backgrounds.

WMG is one of Europe's leading manufacturing groups and is involved in publicly and privately funded research on innovation in products and in manufacturing processes, with a focus on research, development and application of new approaches for a wide range of industrial sectors. In all of its activities WMG adopts a partnership approach, involving industry closely in the delivery of its extensive research, technology transfer and training programmes.

WMG works with a range of UK original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and regional, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), both innovative start-up companies and the supplier base. The Group has pioneered an international model for working with industry, with teaching and research centres in Hong Kong, South Africa, India, China, Malaysia and Thailand.

Under the leadership of Prof Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya, WMG has established a benchmark of excellence when focusing on collaborative R&D.

At the same time, I wish to congratulate Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohd Anwar Hj Mohd Nor for being conferred with an Associate Fellowship by Warwick University. Tan Sri Anwar graduated in 2003 from the University of Warwick holding a Master Degree in Engineering Business Management. When he joined Warwick, he was a one Star Rear Admiral in the Malaysian Navy. In 2002, he was promoted to vice Admiral and took the office as Deputy Chief of Navy. He became the Navy chief on August 2003. Today, he is a 4-Star General, and is currently promoted as the Chief of Defence Forces, Malaysia.

In conjunction with the Warwick-BATC convocation today, I wish all the graduates best of everything they would be endeavouring. I am sure their added qualification would contribute to their competency and efficiency in their undertakings.

I also wish all the Sarawak students who are participating in this convocation - Sarawak Boleh!

Similarly, I wish all those from EMC, best of everything.
