"If" Tariff can Save the Nation!

Deputy Energy, Water and Communication Minister Datuk Shaziman Mansor said it's no longer a question of "if" electricity tariffs will go up, but "when" this will happen.

Shaziman Mansor said that Tenaga Nasional Berhad would have to hike tariffs to stay afloat, otherwise TNB will go bankrupt.

So, all Malaysians must help to make sure TNB don't go bankrupt by paying for the increase in tariff, OK?

Although TNB's profits averaged RM1.5 billion annually, this is not enough to cover its capital expenditure of about RM6.6 billion over the same period.

Then, why don't privatised TNB to YTL?

Ranhill Utilities Bhd, the water concessionaire for Johor State said they had applied to Johor govt to raise water rates. The concession agreement allowed them to revise the tariffs once every three years and the rate adjustment is due in 2006.

If not allowed to increase, in the words of Shaziman, they may also go bankrupt.

So, Johorean, save them!

Syabas has proposed to increase the water tariff by 40% for Selangor. The concession agreement allowed Syabas to make tariff adjustments at every 3-year intervals. The first tariff review would be 2006.

If not allowed to increase, in the words of Shaziman, they may also go bankrupt.

So, KL and Selangor folks, save them!

All Ah Long in Selangor and Johor had decided to increase their loan interest rates by 40% because of the tariff increase that affected their collections. Their bad-debts had increase considerably. At such, the association of Ah Longs had proposed that the tariff will be adjusted in tandem with the other tariff increase.

PLUS, Kesas, LDP and all highway concessionaires will be due for tariff adjustments. All Malaysians using the highways must be prepared for the tariff adjustments; otherwise they would also go bankrupt and Shaziman's words will come true.

All local councils are reviewing the assessment taxes, licence fees and parking fees as the tariff increase and fuel price increase had impacted their coffers and they will also go bankrupt if not allowed to do so.

Finally, Breaking News!

If all the concessionaires and utilities companies had to increase tariff, all civil servants are considering petitioning the government to have salary adjustments of minimum of 40% once every three years too.

If not allowed, they may go bankrupt. However, if allowed the country goes bankrupt. So, let the people go bankrupt lah!

Khairy had just help concluded the CIMB-SBB deal! The commissions and fees for ECM-Libra runs into multi-millions. So, those in ECM Libra and Khairy, they will be receiving jumbo bonuses and incentives. They can afford to pay the tariff increase.

Deputy Prime Minister Najib advised Malaysian to change their lifestyle and stay frugal. Malaysians should cut down their living expenses so that they could afford to absord the tariff hike and fuel hike. Malaysians should understand that even with all these tariff hikes and fuel hikes, it is still cheaper than other countries; including their salaries.
