What is Life?

I love this script adapted from Interview with God:

“That we get bored with childhood,
we rush to grow up,
and then long to be children again.”

“That we lose our health
to make money …
and then lose our money
to restore our health.”

“That by thinking anxiously
about the future,
we forget the present,
such that we live in
neither the present
nor the future.”

“That we live as if
we will never die,
and die as though
we had never lived.”

May I share another with u, Mave? This is my all time personal favourite.

LEISURE (W.H. Davies)

What is this life
if full of care,
We have no time
to stand and stare.
No time to stand
beneath the boughs,
And stare as long
as sheep and cows.
No time to see
when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide
their nuts in grass.
No time to see
in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars
like skies at night.
No time to turn
at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet
how they can dance!
No time to wait
till her mouth can,
Enrich the smile
her eyes began.
A poor life this
if full of care,
We have no time
to stand and stare.

Cheers Mave!

i heard of this poem 'what is life' before... but i thought the ending has something like "and all we get when we die is a tombstone". perhaps that is another poem.
