You want to hear new bullshits of Malaysian Education System?
Let read this:
National Accreditation Board (LAN) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Sharifah Hapsah Shahabudin said the newly set up Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) will soon recognised Post-Graduate Diploma (PGDip) as equivalent to a Master Degree or even a Doctorate Degree.
"For example, if you have a law degree and want to become a teacher, you can do a diploma in teaching and that diploma will be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
"Or, a doctor who wants to specialise in certain areas and does a six-month course. That course will be classified as a post-graduate diploma equivalent to a master’s or a doctorate."
Sharifah, who is also the LAN chairman, said the qualifications would be put in the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR), which would be the national reference point for all accredited qualfications.
My goodness... PG Dip is equivalent to Master and Doctorate? Is there such a thing in the world? Malaysia will be the first country to conduct a 6 months course for degree holder which will qualify them to receive a doctorate? That way, Malaysia will have millions of doctorate holders who only need to attend a 6 months course????
OMG, the government is so innovative and creative and are willing to go to the extent to prove to the world that we are far greater in baptising anyone and everyone with a doctorate degree of which no country will be willing to recognise any paper qualification that ever existed.
How are we going to explain to the world academicians that our doctorate holders had only attended 6 month course, with no research to support, neither any academic knowledge that is contingent. And, I believe, these PG Dip who are baptised as PhD equivalent would then be accorded Professorship by our public universities.
So, when you go to Pasar Malam and Chow Kit Road, almost everyone is a Doctorate holder, including the fried Kuehteow fella, Nasi Lemak seller, and I believe all the mamak restaurant workers will have a PhD too.
Malaysia Boleh? Lagi boleh??? Oh my God, Please save the country by striking a deadly disease on these pesticide officers who came up with the oxymoronic idea.
I just wonder whether Cik/Dr Sharifah is a qualified academician herself and whether she had actually done her doctorate? I believe she did; but how come she can come up with such wierd idea? No where in the world is PG Dip equal to Masters or Doctorate. PG Dip is basically a specialization course for someone with a general degree and who wish to specialise in a field of knowledge. For example, a person with a civil engineering degree can do a PG Dip in soil mechanic or geotechnic or structural engineering design specialising in Steel roofing system. Correctly, if anyone who had a general degree in science or art and wanted to be a teacher, the requirement is to have a Dip-Ed (Diploma in Education) which is basically a PG Dip to qualify to be a teacher. But, please look at out teachers; they graduated from university today with a bachelor degree (general or science) and tomorrow they are made a teacher without a Dip-Ed. Boleh kah?
Alamak!!!!
