State Assemblymen wants pay rise again

Deputy Finance Minister Dr Awang Adek Hussin said State Assemblymen would only be able to provide better service to the Rakyat if only they are given a minimum 10% increase in allowance.

Why didn't they tell the Rakyat during the election time?

Nik Aziz in reply said elected representatives are already enjoying so many luxuries such as cars, staffs, allowance and tax exemptions, including APs, etc. According to Nik Aziz, they should not be showered with more luxuries and in fact should lead a simple lifestyle. In fact, they are burdening the rakyat.

You see the difference in thoughts between an elected leader who only cared about the rakyat and BN's representatives who wants more and more and more. Yet Najib said rakyat should alter their lifestyle in view of the fuel and tariff hike. Perlis MB said rakyat should ride bicycle and take bus since they can't afford the fuel.

Pak Lah said he is managing the 9MP but the first project in 9MP is the Scenic Bridge and CIQ. There, the government had decided to pay extra $760 million to make a road and pay $100 compensation just because the project is halted. But the project had yet to be awarded and therefore there was no breach of contract. Only the Letter of Intent was issued to Gerbang Perdana and yet a total of $270 million had to be paid. More worrisome to hear is that a six lance road which cost $250 million is now $460 million because it was widened by 2 extra lane. Absurd??? NO, NO! It was 9MP and NEP!!!
