London Sports Center is not $490 million

London sports center will not be $490 million. So, the figure of $490 million announced by Sports Minister, Azalina is incorrect.

National Sports Council (NSC) D-G Dr Ramlan said the $490 million was only a projection to be spent over 10 years. Deputy Sports Minister, Liow Tiong Lai said the $490 million figure did not come from his ministry. Phillip Chan of NSC said the figure is likely to be lower.

Najib said the proposed sports training centre in the Rubber Research Institute building near London will not cost RM490 million. "We don’t have that kind of money now. However, with the little allocation we have, and with the co-operation of the ministry and the National Sports Council, we will build the centre for the continued use of the institute and for our athletes," Najib said.

On comments that the proposed centre is a waste of public funds, Najib said:

"No... no, because we haven’t decided on the amount (to build the sports centre). What we have now is a small budget meant for the first phase and we will decide on its development later."

So, who is telling the truth and who are the liars?

Former RRI chief Sekhar showed documentary evidence that the British government do not allow the land to be used for anything other than research and development.

So, how is it that our Sports Minister and Deputy PM can confirm that the Brickendonbury center will be a sports center?

If Mahathir is called a recalcitrant for the Cynic Bridge, for failing to get the consent from Singapore to built half-a-bridge over Malaysian Territory, isn't it oxymoronic that the current regime could go ahead to built a sports complex in a piece of land in London?

Why don't they build a R&D centre there to find out why would we buy a piece of land in a foreign country in the first place?

That would've fit the bill and gives a more honest explanation to everyone. =P
