Prime Minister, and UMNO President, Abdullah said the Padang Besar division in Perlis may have breached party rules if it invited Dr Mahathir to officiate at its divisional meeting on Aug 26.
Only supreme council members, menteris besar, Cabinet ministers from Umno and divisional heads are allowed to officiate at divisional meetings in a non-election year.
"(Umno secretary-general) Datuk Seri Radzi Sheikh Ahmad has already explained this. If that is the decision, how could we grant exceptions to one division?"
