Syed Nadzri on Tuesday NST:
What? Mat Rempit a tourist attraction?
A CHALLENGING task is at hand for Umno Youth and Putera Umno in their bid to engage with Mat Rempit.
These terror-youngsters on noisy motorcycles just can’t change. In fact, they were back at their menacing worst just moments after one of those "connecting functions" — the launch of an Umno Youth-initiated peace expedition involving 1,000 Mat Rempit at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur last Friday night.
A big group of them were not only whizzing in and out of traffic at high-speed, they were doing daredevil stunts at the same time.
I know because I almost knocked into one of them who cut into my path while doing a wheelie along Jalan Bangsar. It was almost midnight then and there were easily 30 or 40 of these Mat Rempit on this stretch, some carrying girlfriends as pillion. They were headed towards Pantai Dalam.
They are a menace. [Fullstop]
Putera UMNO, Datuk Azeez Abdul Rahim wants the government to legalise the illegal racings of Mat Rempit!!!
NST reported yesterday that Azeez is proposing that all street races of these Mat Rempit should be legalised and turned into tourist attractions.
"In Kuala Lumpur, many roads are closed for night markets and other activities. Why can’t we close the roads for our Mat Rempit once a week?" Azeez asked, adding that Malaysia should capitalise on what was unique to it.
Azeez said he met a top Japanese car producer who was impressed by the fact that Mat Rempit could modify their low cubic capacity (cc) machines to enable their motorcycles to go up to 200kph.
Syed Nadzri: "I am amazed and just don’t know what else to say."
ME: "I am not only amazed, I am flabbergasted, mentally tormented, and unable to digest - UMNO wants to legalise illegal acts. Would UMNO also legalise prostitution, gambling, ecstasy & Cannabis drugs, and maybe, consensual rape?
Oh my God, Since Mahathir's departure, UMNO has not been the same again; and may never be the same again. UMNO leaders are now more "brave" and "courages" under the Pak Lah regime; maybe because his son-in-law had given these members and some leaders the courage and strength to be "BRAVE". And their bravery include twisting the law to the opposite direction - that is, legalising those illegal acts. I am not surprise that they will propose to legalise corruption involving UMNO MPs and those special leaders and members of UMNO Puteras because they belongs to Khairy's faction. Someday, those UMNO MPs and UMNO Puteras will be granted immunity from indictment of corruption as their act will be construed as part of the NEP agenda.
In another matter, Khairy was reported to have said that he will not apologise on his comment against the Chinese as what he said was intended to unite the Malays (??? I am not sure what he meant? Divide to rule, even at the expense of a racial disintegration? Do we Malaysian wants someone who are willing to sacrifice anybody for the sake of saving himself? He has a problem with Mahathir and that's what divide UMNO; why pick on the Chinese as a shield to defend his personal interest? His business partners were Chinese, Ethos Consulting and ECM-Libra; they loan money to him to buy ECM-Libra shares, interest free loans???) Hishamuddin, who was commenting on MCA Youth call on Khairy to apologise, was reported to have said that Khairy will not apologise as he was misunderstood and Hishamuddin said he is prepared to gang up UMNO Youth to fight the MCA if they persist.
In another report at NST, Pak Lah lamented that Muslim countries as a group ranked low in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index, occupying more than half of the bottom 10 places. The best record for a Muslim country was 29th place.
Pak Lah also commented on MPs: "MPs have the freedom to speak in Parliament but they should use this privilege to discuss issues concerning the country?s current affairs and as well as future plans. But there were limitations on what can and cannot be spoken out, especially when the subject matter concerns sensitive issues."
Abdullah said the people have high hopes on how the MPs carry themselves and perform their duties in parliament.
"They want their MPs to speak facts and deliver quality debate aimed at building the nation," Pak Lah said.
Yes, Pak Lah; but I am afraid we citizens have lost hope in your MPs and your son-in-law. Tho' we believe you should have been a good prime minister, however, the events over the last few months proved otherwise. Now, the country will be ruled by Mat Rempit and their co-sponsors, UMNO Youth and UMNO Putera and I am afraid, soon, there will be calls to legalise corruption as part of the NEP agenda.

We never dreamed our wildest dream that one day we could possibly look back on Mahathir's era & thought we missed the good ol' days! These clowns have made us all gone bonkers! Our whole governing mechanism had gone to the dogs.
?
oh sorry. i was lost for words just now. totally dumbfounded. first it was the chief saying the chinese can wave a kungfu sword, and now this totally ridiculous idea of legalising the illegal.
what's becoming to our country? merdeka? 49 years of merdeka with this kind of mentality? i weep for you, o negara ku.
negara ku, air-mata saya telah tumpah. :)
Actually, legalising prostitution isn't that bad an idea when you think about it.
You get to weed out pimps and sex slaves. You get to control STDs. Many other stuff down the line actually.
The same goes with Mat Rempits. They are a menace, but legalising things like that makes it easier to control.
There, there, our potshot child prodigy is finally here after Desi's and my blog.
Say, what about your own daughter and own son would to involve...ah, never mind. It's futile to argue with this intellectual wanker.
Mave, I would advise you to exercise caution not to allow this wanker to wank to much in your blog or else he would ejaculate uncontrollably.
Ask Azeez to explain his 'Mat Rempit' promos to M. Rempit victims who are still in hospitals and to parents who lose their children mimicking their brethens.
Sigh...pity how some people do not think about things properly.
Do I need to spell everything out properly?
Legalising Mat Rempits means that these people have a place they can go to race. That means they won't have to race at 2am in the morning and wake you up. That means they can do it some place safe, and away from innocent bystanders. That means you can regulate the way they race.
I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Legalising Mat Rempits? What happen to our leaders? Are they nothing else to worry about to build up the country? Where they learn this stupid theory from? Here promoting road safety there legalise Mat Rempit?
About Khairy... enaugh for me to say bout him... I scare can't finish it.
Anti Corruption? Hello... we r getting lower n even lower ranking in the world now.
My conclusion only 3 words... NO EYE SEE.
Vincent,
You are welcome here to comment and I accepted that you have been constructive thus far. Truly appreciate your comments. However, I do not agree with you about legalising the Mat Rempits. No where in the world had any government legalise illegal racing and if those racers wanted to race, they have to join racing associations and race at Batu Tiga race track or any track approved by the govt; not on the road. Similarly, the question of legalising prostitution is not the ad hoc and uncontrolled manners. Singapore and Amsterdam had appropriate system to manage them. Tumpat is now the new Golok. I am sure you have also heard of the proposal by the minister to allow discos to operate at housing estates till 5am. Do you agree with this too?
Howsy, Thanks for the concern and can we give the benefit of the doubt to Vincent as so far he had behaved and had been constructive. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and believe him that he will provide intellectual discourse over here. Please believe me, till I am hit!!! I had visited Vincent's blog and it looks decent and eruditing.
Thanks to Lucia, AMoi, Kenny and Mob1900 for the comments and I truly appreciate all of you. Be reminded that I am a fan of all of your blogs!!!
