The NEP Dilemma

The No Ending Policy Dilemma will continue...

The government says the Bumis only had 18.9% control over the equity market. Others disagreed to the methods used to tabulate it. Whatever, it is, the dilemma will continue.

The recent news of the proposed sales of Proton to VW and 25% of AMMB shares to ANZ will surely reduced the 18.9%. So, it's ironical that UMNO on one side is clamouring to increase the equity stakes and on the other hand, the government is more than prepared to dilute it's stakes which it claimed is far from their target of 30%.

So, if they haven't achieve 30%, then why continue to dilute the Bumis' stake?

Some said it was necessary to improve the management structure and others said it was synergistic. Yet others said it was to bring in foreign funds. Ironically, whatever said or actions to do so, will eventually reduce further the Bumis stake and make the target an impossibility. UMNO will have to continue to cry foul and marginalisation.

I really don't know what they want and I don't think they know what they want. One one side, without foreign investment, the economy will be stifled; on the other hand, with incoming investments from non-Bumis and foreigners, it will dilute and reduce the Bumi's equity.

So, how? How to get the 30%?

All the talks on the statistics are hurting the credibility of the government, if there is any to start with.

We are now competing in the globalized world. Forget about whether it's 30% or 70% or whatever. The figure means nothing if all are 'kucing kurap'. What is the difference if all are 'kucing-kucing kurap'? 'Lebih kurap sikit atau kurang kurap sikit, masih kucing kurap!'.

Judging by the way the country is run, this seems to be our destination. It's right at our doorstep now..Fate?? For sure, it'll go into history as UMNO made.

our leaders keep promoting racism, 48 years after independence , political parties still form along racial lines, government ministers still talk about their own races benefits, doesnt history have enough to teach us anything about racism ? why a commoner like me knows about evils of racims and not our ministers ? whaat make them ministers ?
