Cuepacs wants the govt to increase the salaries for civil servants by some 40%.
Cuepacs vice-president Omar Osman said the last salary revision was in 1992.
"It is time for a salary revision in view of the current high cost of living. Civil servants, particularly those in the low and middle-income brackets, serving both in the rural and urban areas, are finding it difficult to make ends meet."
Ceupac's estimated that it would cost the government some RM6 billion.
Pak Lah now has another headache. $6b headache! The answer will be a flat "NO". But I expect him to throw in some gravy patches to ease the anxieties and to give a nice lunch to Ceupacs officers to shut them up.

Civil servants can count themselves damn lucky if AAB would give them a 5% increase in salary, so just stop daydreaming about the 40%... Possible the Public Service Allowance might be increased by a few bucks so as not to burden the pension. Or AAB may force Cuepacs to accept the new Pension Scheme for the civil service in exchange for a pay hike...
I guess they can ask and AAB can refuse.
On a personal note, I can empathize with those civil servants. They are paid lowly but then if anyone is to blame, they got to point their finger at the garmen. If, civil vacancies are not used as crutches for unemployed people of certain origin, I guess they'll have a fair wage. But, the garmen having to support and employ more than they need to make employment opportunities, they simply cannot afford to give these civil servants the rightful wage.
GUess this is the time for civil servants to practice the spirit of tolerance and help their very own abangs and adiks to secure a job by not burdening the garmen with payrise. At least they'll have a job.
Interesting....
Its like Monkey asking from their Donkey leader for apple when the Donkey itself accumulating apple for its own stomach. Funny!
Inflation is what... 5%??? Probably near 10% if MIER totally independent body. Recession coming 2008; civil servants deserve to be underpaid for they are lazy lot, complacent attitude from 8 to 5pm... half past six behaviour like their Donkeys; they just deserve it!
Well, no harm barking at the sleeping Donkey hoping one day he awakes and sign off cheque 6 billion... Malaise Boleh!
Now the current state of unemployment graduates being absorbed in Government, the nation will sure have the 'best d**b' skill to run the country to out-beat Gabon of Africa...
Yes.... Malaysia Boleh!
I know Pak Lah will say NO again. I don't hope so much with it anymore, it's useless.
Blardy Hell,
Ask everytime, get every time. What about peeple like us in the private sector? Increment also dont have, Can get pension a not? Gormen simply get so many workers for wat? Get Votes onli? If like dat, pay lah! Peeple sure kens tax again wan!
40%increase for 5% extra cost of living? Shaddap lah! Wanna to quit, quit lah! Gormen can save so much money! All like leeches to suck gormen dry. Go and sell amway or Goway or Moreway or go-away!WTF
40%? that much? certainly pak lah will say no.
well it may be the strategy of cuepacs. they know very well pak lah will not give 40% but they mentioned 40% with the hope that they will get half of it 20%... which was what they wanted anyway. if they asked for 20%, pak lah will give 10% or not give at all, so better ask more, then wait for the 'more' to be decrease.
Civil servants are poorly paid?
Hmm ... let me see, with a degree you can get a job in a government dept with a starting degree of around $1600 (with allowance etc).
In private sector, you would normally start below that. That the current economic situation.
Pls, takpayah naikkan gaji lagi. Diorang bukan buat kerja byk pun
patience patience...
don't get kan-cheong...
all you know its that fella 'half-past six' pushing cuepacs to make noise asking the increase...
that fella pay not much also ma...
sleeping on work is normal for gomen people what...
itu gaji mau kasi naik juga ma...
I'd like to see the Civil Service show some good work ethics before they ask for pay increments. Right now, i cant find any justification for increments - at 5% or 40%. If AAB give in to this, we are simply perpetuating our 'subsidy and mediocrity' culture. Shame on us. Asking for free handouts yet again.
