Johor Baru MP Datuk Shahrir Samad said Singapore did not have any track record in building a monorail and it was only justified to award the project to Malaysian companies. He also said the monorail project should be owned by locals and not Singaporeans.
"Why should we allow an outsider to teach us something that we are better at?" Shahrir said.
"We welcome foreigners to invest in the Iskandar Development Region and other ventures. When locals have the expertise in certain fields, why should we look for foreigners?" he asked.
Singapore’s public transport operator, SMRT Corp, is keen to participate in the Johor Baru Monorail project.
SMRT, 55% owned by Temasek Holdings has offered to take up equity in the RM3 billion monorail project.
Jalur Mudra Sdn Bhd (JM), the company given the Letter of Exclusivity by the Johor government said SMRT was keen to be the technology partner or project manager for the JB Monorail. Johor Baru City Council (MBJB), is the other partner in the project. It will hold 30 per cent equity.
According to NST, the JB Monorail will be unique in that it will be based on the "maglev", or magnetic levitation technology. This is an advanced technology in which magnetic forces lift, propel and guide the trains over an elevated guideway.
I don't know how they got the idea that "maglev" is touted as an advance technology. I think they did not visit Europe, particularly Eastern Europe decades ago where such rail technology was used. In fact, China uses this technology because they had acquired the copyrights for the design and it's far cheaper than bullet-train technology or the MRT technology. Maglev, a new technology? Ya, 80 years ago, in Eastern Europe.
While Johor do not appreciate investments from Singapore for the monorail project, however, Singapore has open-arms for Malaysian entrepreneurs for any business investments. Malaysians are welcome to invest in casinos, karaoke, hair salons, property development, etc, etc. Genting and YTL are investing in Sentosa Island. Many other Malaysians have invested in Singapore and the govt of Singapore are doing everything necessary to welcome these investors, ensuring that the business process are efficient and effective so as not to hinder the progress.

maglev - advanced technology, lolx
hmm PAC kepala seems to wanne keep the 'Gravy Train' flowing in family. He knows it's political suicide to allow SingkirPorla to participate. Please spare us the headache of 'white elephants' if he intends to make it 'made-in-Malaysia'. I'm sure he could make an international 'consortium' of sorts which keeps the 'outsider' or 'foreigner' lable at bay. Funny how we beg for $$$(investments) from these 'outsiders' but still mock them.
Yah we have 'VERY GOOD' Record?
We forget so easily? What happened to PUTRA LRT? "Why should we allow an outsider to teach us something that we are better at?" WTF, Sinkapore MRT IS one million times better than our Star/Putra/Monorail anytime! Stop talking COCK Shaaril!
SHARIL TALK COCK!
Bcoz all they one is Malay, Malay, Malay own only! Our Cuntry's transport system is all Fucked up!
U think Disneyland is coming to JB?
Fat Hopes! Maybe Melaka is a better 'disknee' land!
Maglev is jerman technology not china's. Maglev is good for long distance and FAST! How many KM is the JB train? 50 miles? Better to use Bullock cart instead! Talk Shit always!

This is typical of Shahlil Shamatt...
Some one must talk C**K ma... sure lah must get local company take up the contract, 10% go to Malay chairman and the balance go to 'apa nama' company...
Quality like MRR2 lor... then get 'apa nama' fella to answer all the nuisance...
Singapore are smart - they call in Malaysian for FDI, but half past six fella don't want 'open coming' Singapore investment... quiet2 can ma... put some CNY angpow first lah...
Give benefit of doubt, Johor can be better than HongKong, but it must be run managed and lived by the Guandong or ShenZhen people, not barking civil servant hard up for easy pocket money from government... after week long assembly ma....
O..mi..thorr..fhatt!
Because with Singaporean running the LRT, it will be efficient and make money.
Those f*cking cronies don't want an efficient and economic train system, they just want gravy trains.

topping tak mau tunggu election, raya cina ma... any time can!
talk cock want money$$$ lah...
common sense what???
it's not difficult to understand why Singapore excel and Malaysia was left behind. In Singapore, everything is about smart investment and policy and in Malaysia, it is about gravy train and stupid water face. Any investment in Malaysia is valued by race, country and possibility of a ticket to gravy train. In Singapore, business is the key word.
