Malaysia still Sleeping to the New Asia

Japan wakes up to a new Asia.

China's rapid growth and the uncertainty of a strong China seems unnerving to Tokyo.

Shinzo Abe, the new Japanese Prime Minister have started to build Japan's soft power influence in key Asian countries: India, China, Singapore and Philippines. It involves developing an affinity to japanese cultures and social themes.

Japan has fully come to terms with its past and might find less reason to worry about a strong new China.

Next Poser: Malaysia Still Sleeping to the New Asia? Still troubled by internal conflict of interest of equality and uneven level in playing fields? Still harping on NEP?

"I certainly would like to think that the Malays can succeed without the NEP. But too much feather-bedding isn't going to do much good. When one talks about going global the Malays will have to develop resilience. The NEP had suffered certain abuses and pampered the Malays instead of making them competitive."

Who the blazes ever want to throw away the numerous privileges being served upon a silver platter that comes with the NEP? Just imagine, a RM100,000 discount when you buy a RM1,000,000 house while your poor Chinese/Indian counterpart who is having a much lower salary than you can't even be given a RM0.10 discount. Many other privileges too numerous to list here. No wonder sly old uncle Rayappan chucked away his Hindu wife and took a new Malay one in order to enjoy the comforts of being a bumi!

...plus free textbook loans for all your fat, spoilt kids even though you are earning RM5,000 a month while your poor Chinese/Indian laborer with just RM1,001 a month salary is not allowed to participate in the above textbook scheme...my good friend Arumugam is going to chuck away his Hindu wife of umpteen years tomorrow and marry a new Malay one. And I don't blame him!

You must not compare our country to other small developing ones like Nepal... after all, as our PM likes to point out, it has First World infrastructures (forget abt the 3rd World mentality of its rakyat). Unlike Nepal and the other 'banana' republics, Malaysia is one of the leading producers of petroleum, manufactured goods etc...and oops, when is the next round of petrol price hikes?
