Ah Long and Ah Beng's Dilemma

They couldn't get Ah Long!

Now, the easier way is to get those who borrowed from Ah Long.

Police will go after those who borrowed from Ah Long and charged them for abetment of crime or conspiring to commit criminal acts.

The reason:Borrowers are forcing loan sharks to resort to crime to recover bad debts.

Why did people borrow from Ah Long if they can borrow from friends, from the banks, from the government?

Of course there are some who borrowed for sinister reasons or reasons that lacks morality. However, I have known many who borrowed because they have bank loans and installment due and if they don't pay up, the bank will windup their company or make them bankrupt. It is the only avenue available to them. There are also some who borrowed to sent their children for studies oversea, paying their tuition fees. Their children couldn't get a place in local public universities and the only choice left is to sent them overseas or private universities whose fees are expensive.

Is borrowing from Ah Long wrong?

Was Ah Long a bad guy when they help those who are in need; genuinely in need?

If that's immoral, what about those licence moneylenders such as chettiahs and investment bankers? Banks lent money with an interest charge - that's usury and it include Islamic bank who creatively called it profit sharing...but those borrowing companies loses money and defaulted in their loan repayment; where got profit? How to have profit sharing? However, these companies are sued for default payment and windup. The guarantors were made bankrupt by the Islamic banks. That's ok?

Mave, "Is borrowing from Ah Long wrong?" I can't find a good answer for you on that, but prosecuting the borrowers definitely sound ridiculous to me.

If A borrowed money from ah long to buy toto or 4d because the prize money is too attractive. Then forcing ah long to commit crime when A defaulted the payment, who is the real cuplrit? Should we prosecute toto/4d instead?

Malaysia boleh...memang boleh with excuses and finding new culprits

Mave, sad to hear about your MAS experience. I have stopped taking MAS for quite a while because I can't find a valid reason, considering their bad service and "messed-up" flight arrangement.

Some relatives charge interest. Can they too be defined as Ah Longs?

The main point is Ah Long is not paying any licensing fee to the garmen and that is why.

I know many homes are wrecked by brutal Ah Long tactics, but I've also known people who got a new lease of life becos Ah Long lend them money when others turned their back. My deceased MIL used to borrow from Ah Long when times were hard for an illiterate lady having to bring up 3 children. (After husband ran off the moment he struck lottery.. Kisah benar!!)

Wah..good news for Ah Long. If people cannot pay, haul them into police station! Police to help Ah Long collect debts? Interesting partnership.

Build Ah Long into thriving small & medium business? What an idea.

The title of this news has ulterior intention.

"BORROWERS BEWARE" sounds like warning from the govt. As a common newspaper reader, one would easily noticed alot of commercial banks (Ah Long with License) are offering QUICK CASH short term loans.

They are not interested about the streets ah long, they wanna be ah long too. My problem now is, alot of cold callers from many banks call me whether i am interested to take up their loan offers... very iiretating lah.

To be a adroit charitable being is to have a amiable of openness to the world, an cleverness to guardianship undeterminable things beyond your own pilot, that can lead you to be shattered in unequivocally extreme circumstances pro which you were not to blame. That says something remarkably impressive with the fettle of the honest autobiography: that it is based on a conviction in the uncertain and on a willingness to be exposed; it's based on being more like a shop than like a sparkler, something rather tenuous, but whose mere precise beauty is inseparable from that fragility.
