Land of the Rising Son

Malaysia has one thing very common - it's a land of rising son.

The son also rises in Klang

It's not a peculiar thing in Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to see members of the same family sitting in MPK. It's nothing new..

MPK councillor, Datuk Zakaria Md Deros, gave up his post after 30 years. His son Zainuri and daughter-in-law Roselinda Abdul Jamil now sit in the council.Roselinda, who is married to another son of Zakaria, is a second-term councillor while Zainuri is serving his first term.

Yesterday, S. Chandran was sworn in as councillor, replacing his father Subramaniam Sangapillay, who gave up his councillorship last year due to health reasons.

Subramaniam, also known as Jumbo Maniam, had a strong grip on his councillorship for 22 years.

Someday, we will also read and see sons, and most likely, son-in-laws, rising to helm the nation.

You should write about the Theory of Dynasty in Malaysian politics. It's all over the Malaysian political scene.

It seems to me that Klang Municipal Council (MPK) is the most abused office in the country. Are there worse ones?

What is the basis of the councilors appoinments? Self-elected or government appointed?

Yeah, there are worse ones.

Ampang Jaya and Selayang.

Yep. Ampang Jaya and Selayang. Insensitive to the people in their districts, going on overseas trips, always treating the people like sh*t.
