Is there such thing as a Malay-Muslim Mosque, a Chinese-Muslim Mosque or an Indian-Muslim mosque?
We call denote it in conversation and writing, but in Islam, there is no race and prejudice. For Allah created mankind and the things on this earth, all were His creation and by His grace, mankind were endowed to enjoy it.
A mosque is a place for prayer and a place where believers congregate to discover the profound spiritual knowledge that enlightens our journey of life, while be reminded of the creator and His omnipresence and omnipotence.
Perak MB, Malacca MB and Johor MB were all against the idea of Chinese-Muslim having their own mosques for prayers.
In the words of Ali Rustam, it wasn't appropriate. Malacca was just too small to have a Chinese mosque.
But the States, including Malacca keeps building mosques, everywhere, every small districts and villages. So why the discrimination? Is it because they are Chinese and a Muslim? Is it because they cannot be allowed to be equal to the Malay-Muslims? Or, in the words of Abdul Ghani,
“Any concept similar to that of a Bangsa Malayan is unacceptable... they should also realise why any concept akin to it could not be accepted.”
“It is about everything being equal and this does not capture the hearts of Malaysians. Therefore, regardless of whatever name is given, this is against idea kenegaraan (the idea of nationhood) which we have inherited.”
Ghani said: "Even if the term Bangsa Malaysia is to be used, it must only be applied in the context of all the peoples of Malaysia with the Malays as the pivotal race."
Ironically, Kelantan government is the only State government that promotes a universal Islam. Kelantan was officially proclaimed as an Islamic State by the PAS government. The State is a symbol of Islam. The leaders practices what they preaches.
To the PAS government, a mosque is a mosque and it's a place for prayers and congregations of all Muslims, be ye Arab, Thais, Russians, Africans, Chinese, Indian, Bengali, or Malay.
The Mosque is a building and the architecture did not denote a symbol of Allah - that's what the Quran said. The holy prophet had warned the Muslims many times, that nothing should symbolise Allah and no one should connote anything physical to represent Allah: no statute, no pictures, and no building should be taken to represent Allah.
So, what is Chinese-mosques or Malay mosques? What is the difference between a mosque with Minangkabau architecture and Chinese architecture? It is a building, period. It will be a place of worship for Muslims. There is no Malay, Indian or Chinese Muslims. All are Muslims in the eyers of Islam and the Quran. You may be defined by races within a political structure but no one, no Muslims can be define by race, color or creed. There is only believers and non-believers. In fact the Quran said that those who tried to divide their own brothers or sisters, the Muslims as a whole, they have acted in defiance of the word of Allah and will be punished.
Far more ironical is the fact that there should be an Islamic complex for Chinese in Seremban. It sounded clear that a Chinese Muslims should be segregated and defined as different and unequal to the other Muslims. If it is an Islamic complex, it is a complex for all Muslims.
Another irony is the fact that we had Mesjid India and Indian Imams and sermons taught in the Tamil language. There is no outcry against them. Why is it so different just because it is Chinese and a Muslim? Isn't it clear and unambiguous? Haven't we get clear signs and revelation of the political facts and ideology?
Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin said if the State government is not willing to fund the construction of Chinese-mosque, he is prepared to raise donations from the public to build the mosques.
Dr Asri: "The idea of Islam in Malaysia must be Malay in all forms is wrong. “Chinese in China have been Muslims hundred of years before the Malays accepted Islam."

Dr Asri said it is time to have Chinese mosques run by the Chinese for the Chinese community.
Dr Asri, I disagreed! A mosque can be run by any dedicated and knowledgeable Muslims and surmons preached in any language as long as it conforms to the teaching in the Quran. Anyone can and should be allowed to pray at any mosque and at any place. Of course if a sermon is taught in Chinese, it was intended for Chinese audience and intended to transmit the knowledge of Islam to those who understands Chinese language, be they any from any race or creed. It is not for the Chinese per se.

Pretty damn right Dr Asri, those UMNOputras thought the malays = muslim.
There are more than 20 million chinese muslims(they call them Hui zhu) in China alone, much more than the malay population in malaysia.
Them UMNOs are stupid, ignorant and damned.

1 word ..... RACIST!
I very much sympathise with what the Chinese Muslims in the country feel about this issue, but I also have to tell them - you should have read the fine print.
There are two very important realities which a potential convert to Islam in this country MUST be very clear about.
a) In the old days, the Malay term for conversion to Islam was "Masuk Melayu". Politically incorrect , but accurate to this day. A Chinese who converts to Islam is expected to adopt the Malay way of life and assimilate. Don't think you have the "Right" to preserve even the non-religous aspects of your previous culture.
b) Its a Solid one-way street. Once you are in, don't ever think of getting out. Some of those who convert to marry a Muslim, and the marriage later fails, get a lot of grief and headaches trying to leave Islam.
I'm sorry I have to be so blunt, but like many other people in Bolehland, this community needs a good shaking to wake them up to the realities of life.
fascists! hypocrite muslims...suppose to be this n that etc etc..action speaks louder than words..and their action SHOUTS: HYPOCRITE! I AM A RELIGIOUS HYPOCRITE!
sorry brother, you are both wrong in (a) and (b)
when u convert, u are expected to lead a muslim way of life, not a malay way of life. there are muslim in india, muslim in xinziang, and many other places in the world. Do u mean to say that in these places, you follow a malay way of life?? grow up and read before u comment.
A person who convert because he or she want to marry is not a true muslim. we do not need these type of people..convert because of marriage!!
Anonymous, You are wrong by yourself. I had never said about a Malay way of life. Read clearly. It was the statements made by the MB of Perak and Malacca; not mine.
A muslim is one who accepted Allah as God and that prophet Muhammad is the messenger of God; nothing else. The way of life is guidance from the Holy Prophet; nothing else. probably you should as a Muslim read the Quran. I do read them often and I do understand them too.

Anon is right on Islam is is NOT a race-based and privileged religion for the Malays, only at Bolehland these 'Ulamaks' reinforced these iron-grip man-made laws. Arab will snigger at the thought we are more 'Arab' than them.
I guess these MB morons and the likes just created the term "BUMIMUSLIMS"!!!
My problem is not islam, it is also not racism, it is because Malaysia is ruled by the majority which I considered they are a weak race. They are not globally competitive in any respect except the scream and cries in of political triumph and construction of the biggest and tallest!
How many MARA trained engineering students can do world class job?? I had blood vomitting experience working with them on a few so called prestigious projects before. They like to take short cuts and 'pak kang tau' or cari lubang to gain for their self interests only. Instead of focusing on their job, they are natural politians in their own organization.
I belong to a minor race but at least I work sincerely and towards the organization goal.
Confusion is in the air!!!
This is what happened when SECULAR based government and their servant trying to do, to show how 'Islamic' they are. The result - 'Topsy Turvy' or 'Tunggang Terbalik'.
The best way is to back to basic and refer to the real way as portrayed during Prophet Era. I agree with Kelantan's method on Mosque architecture.

I'm very much sure that for those who convert solely because of marriage, it is NOT their wish to convert. The laws MADE them convert because if they don't, they will not be allowed to marry a Muslim.
Take a look at China, people there can marry a Muslim WITHOUT converting to Islam. So don't condemn people who convert only because of marriage. Given a choice, I'm sure they do not want to. They laws in Malaysia made them.
This is the meaning of the report narrated by Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah who said: `Isa ibn Yunus told us from Thawr from `Umar ibn Yazid that `Umar wrote to Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (may Allah be pleased with him), and said: ‘Learn the Sunnah and learn Arabic; learn the Qur’an in Arabic for it is Arabic.’
According to another Hadith narrated from `Umar (radhi allahu anhu), he said: ‘Learn Arabic for it is part of your religion, and learn how the estate of the deceased should be divided (Fara’id) for it is part of your religion.’
This command of `Umar (radhi allahu anhu), to learn Arabic and Shari`ah combines the things that are needed, for religion consists of texts and practices. Understanding Arabic is the way to understanding the texts of Islam, and understanding the Sunnah is the way to understanding the Islamic practices…” (Iqtida’ As-Sirat Al-Mustaqim, vol. 2, p. 207)
This is a clear cut command from our appointed commanders of the faith. And with disclaimer: anyone who openly dis-obey the commands of the sahaba is
also dis-obeying Rasulullah (sallaha 'alayhi wa sallam)is breaking his iman and aqidah(105 articles of faith that muslims must believe), is murtad.
Be it malay, or chinese or indian. The community has no command in arabic language is not comforming to the Prophetic way.
Therefore, malay, chinese ,indians should reflect collectively on their shortcomings (that they could not speak arabic, should be shameful), instead of pointing fingers on each other.
Friday gatherings of the faithful should be preached in arabic. You people should be whipped 80 lashes, for breaking the shari'ah ruling descended to our current epoch in this universe.
all your property is not yours actually, a faithful only act as 'amin' or the amanah-keeper of the property of Rasulullah salallah alayhi wa sallam which the is the whole universe as a gift of Allah.
We are nothing actually, darwin was right on that.
Take a look at China, people there can marry a Muslim WITHOUT converting to Islam. So don't condemn people who convert only because of marriage. Given a choice, I'm sure they do not want to. They laws in Malaysia made them.
Actually, in Islam (not Malaysian law), a Muslim cannot marry a non-Muslim. If a non-Muslim wants to marry a Muslim, he or she has to convert to Islam. And, no, this doesn't work the other way around. Meaning, a Muslim is not allowed to convert to another religion so that he or she can marry a non-Muslim.
I think that Muslims in Malaysia should really learn Islam. Many of them take it for granted. That's the reason why there are apostates.
The only way to prevent apostasy is for Muslims to be educated themselves. I think that if a person wants to leave Islam, he or she should be allowed to do so - there's no point in labeling someone as 'Muslim' when they don't understand, or they don't like Islam at all. So what if many will follow? At least the Muslims will know who are sincere to the faith and who are not. It's an easy solution to remove hypocrisy.
This (education of Islam) should apply to non-Muslims who want to become Muslims as well. Embracing Islam (or any other religion for that matter) for the sake of marriage is wrong. In Islam, it is very clear in the Qur'an that non-Muslims should not be forced to enter into Islam. That's why, if a person decides to convert to Islam, he or she should study Islam in great detail before doing so.
As regards the mosque issue, I think that every Muslim should share the same mosques. There is only one Kaabah. So why should there be many different types of mosques?
What the authorities in the mosque should do is to cater to non-Malay Muslims; such as having special Qur'an reading classes for Chinese speakers, or fardhu 'ain classes for Tamil speakers, and so on. That way, Muslims who do not speak Malay will have the opportunity to be more involved -- and it doesn't become a Malay-only mosque.
Sori my english is very bad...
Come on brothers and sisters.
Try to look this idea with 'husnul dzhon'.
If Cina Mosque exist, than i thing it's easier to cina race to run they are program by they are self.
Can you look, many Imam and Bilal (majority) in our Mosque including the big Mosque running by a Malay.
Khutbah has 'read' in Bahasa Malaysia.
It's okey, for those who thinking to uphold they are custom and race language. But how the other races?
They also want to uphold they are language too.
So, after we build Cina Mosque, the organization, kutbah, have they are own imam and ulama' or everything can be run as cina Muslim perception. They also can give 'da'wah' to they are races if they can build this Masjid Cina.
And one more thing. I don't think so, you(this owner blog) have a good idea abou this isue. You just adding a prejudice. After I read a comment from Redzuan Tee Abdullah that he agree with Dr Asri oppinion, I think why we not agree too...
