Information Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin has urged RTM officers to use blogs and websites to keep abreast of new information technology and reach out to the public.
“Many officers are still using outdated method in disseminating information and are not maximising advertising space to the fullest.
“Sometimes, their thinking may have prevented them from taking a more radical stand in effecting changes,” he told a press conference at Putra Palace Hotel here Saturday.
He said that before blogs or websites came to the fore, RTM and newspapers were among the popular sources of information for society.
Of late, he added, more people have resorted to getting news from blogs and websites. However, only an intellectual society was able to gauge the reliability of information derived from such sites, he said.
“I’m not disputing blogs as the latest means of disseminating information through the Web but there is this fear that information posted on these sites are baseless and not obtained through reliable sources.
“Not everybody who reads them can differentiate the truth from the rumours,” he added.
Somehow, it's hard for an outdated man to track-back on himself and this is one way to justify self-ignoramus.

The Minister is the one out of date. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Did one of the reporters ask him to elaborate? He could have been caught with his pants down!
Bayi,
You are dead right. Zam is a dinosaur. He don't fit his portfolio. But this is Malaysia "Boleh" in progress, always managed to fit a square into a circular hole. The Ministry should be scrapped.
So, Zamzam, where the hell is your own website? First, set an example for the RTM officers to use blogs and websites to keep abreast of new information technology and reach out to the public. Else what's the use of your fat paycheck?
Cob-web, maybe.
So with hindsight...who were the idiots who claimed mainstream newspapers tell the truth? Ever read the STAR contradicting news reports that the two sexist BN MPs apologised. One report online said apologies given and the other reporting a denial by Mohd Said. So which report is true? maybe, Zam and the other 're-cycled" leaders should answer. They thought they knew best on printed newspapers telling the truth, so perhaps these jokers can differential which report is true. So much for illogical and stupid politicians.
Zam, yes, chew your own foot. Eat the words you said. You are irrelevant and stop sitting on your brains!
