The Perak Religious Department has dropped the case against singer Siti Noor Idayu Abd Moin for allegedly dressing sexily and encouraging vice by performing at a nightclub.
The 22-year-old singer said the department reached the decision after a meeting on Saturday.
“At the meeting, (the Perak Religious Department) decided to drop the charge as it it did not have enough evidence to press charges," said Siti Noor Idayu.
During the meeting, she said, the department officers also advised her to dress properly in future performances.
However, the performer said she would continue to dress the way she always had.
“I don’t think the clothes that I wear are revealing or sexy. It’s not like I was wearing a two-piece (bikini). I still know what I can and cannot do,” she said.
Was this a compromise decision? Did the Mufti discover profound knowledge?
It seems clear that Siti Noor would continue with her job.

Now, what about the humiliation, the inconvenience and the hurt the religious department officers have caused to Siti? Is this to be addressed now that Siti is not charged?
Even religious department officers do not have the mandate to hound others on the basis of their self-righteousness. If nothing is done, they may have decided to drop charges against Siti but they will probably go out there to hound other Sitis.
Among other points, Siti alleged that the officers turned the air conditioning to maximum cold and heard one of them say to freeze the detainees. Will the guilty officers get away with such acts?
*Sigh* It looks like they will.
When the sky starts to torn apart, and the earth trembles down, that's when these people start to believe in God, realize their mistake and repent.
By that time, its already too late...
typical people these days
Like bayi said, enough damage was already done.
Hopefully, this will work in Siti Noor's advantage. More singing gigs. :-)
Now, Siti my girl. It's time you turn the tables on these religious blokes by suing them for sexual harassment in a workplace. If you are in doubt, please consult our dear Datuk Fong Chan On on how to deal with such wanton behaviour.
Anda mgkn mempersoalkan saya. Bagaimana beliau hendak makan?
KARAM SINGH WALIA MELAPORKAN UTK CAKAP TAK SERUPA BIKIN.
Karam Singh Walia (if that's his name) is talking rubbish. There is nothing wrong in singing. Sikhs sing their scriptures in the Gurdwara every week, praising God, etc.
Criticising someone's dress only reflects your dirty mind. Civilised people avert their eyes if what they see is offensive to them. Besides, taking your logic further, clubs where people perform should also be out of bounds to narrow minded dopes like you. That will then not offend you. Anway, what sort of 'Singh' are you to promote these Taliban ideas in Malaysia? Have you forgotten sufferings of the early Singhs in the Punjab and at whose hands?
MMM...i agree with u True Blue Singh. There is nothing wrong in singing. In Malaysian Law, yes it is not wrong. But, when it is mixed with sexy dress (exposing the Aurat), singing in Night Club where liquor is served plus encouraging mix gender to dance on the dance floor, then IT IS WRONG AND HARAM IN ISLAM. For this reason, I had to agree with Karam Singh Walia. If u dont understand and it's shariah law, u better dont give ur comment True Blue Singh. Understand Islam first before u want to give ur comment.
Thanks.
St Paul says in the Bible, the New Testament "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I don't permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and become a sinner" (I Timothy 2:11-14).
"Keep a headstrong daughter under firm control, or she will abuse any indulgence she receives. Keep a strict watch on her shameless eye, do not be suprised if she disgraces you" (Ecclesiasticus 26:10-11).
St Paul again in New Testamentsays "Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of every woman is man, and the head of Christ is God............If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved off, she should cover her head. A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.....neither was man created for woman, but woman from man. For this reason, and because of the angels, the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head" (I Corinthians 11:3-10)
Now, before any Christians even start to think to says something misleading about muslim women covering their hair etc; Read St Paul writing first. The position of woman in Judeo-Christian tradition itself is already FRIGHTENING; and women's right in marriage, education, property, divorse, inheritance etc are UNJUST... Pls stop blatantly accept incessant negative portrayal of Islam by those orientalist books, articles, media images and Hollywood movies... Read the translation of the Holy Quran. Compare what the Holy Quran says regarding the position of woman yourselves.. you'll be indulged.. and this is a challenge to you all...
To all non-Muslims in Malaysia, you guys want to be regarded as "Malaysians" but the truth is that you know actually nothing about the religion that has been around in Malaysia for 500+ years. Islam has laws, which are based on the holy Quran and hadiths. Whether you guys like it or not, Muslims must comply with the Islamic (Syari'a) law and there are good reasons why such laws were created. And not to forget, Islam is the official and national religion in Malaysia. In America, they used to burn or crucify negroes and until now there are cases at school which there are voices like "go back to China!". Luckily, you guys were treated differently here and I demand you guys to be grateful for what you have been had for the past 90 years or so in Malaysia.
