A three-man special independent panel has been formed to investigate the authenticity of a video clip showing a senior lawyer purportedly brokering the appointment of judges.
The panel comprises former Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Haidar Mohd Noor, National Service Council chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye and former Court of Appeal judge Datuk Mahadev Shankar.
There is much concerned about the ability of these three experts to conduct a Fair, Just, and Equitable report. Many are suspicious over their ability to be impartial and believed they will be subjected to undue influence.
However, we should first give the benefit of doubt to them. They had not started work, so there is no reason to doubt their ability to perform fairly and without bias.
Let's allow them to do the investigative report and we will soon understand what is integrity and justice in our civil society.

independent panel?
all these di*kheads sucks.
Doc, you are overly optimistic.
Imagine having non-nuclear expect investigate the Chernobyl nuclear reactor meltdown. Do you think a outsider can distinguish facts and bullshit? In addition, can an outsider, without the grant of professional dignity and honor, do you think they are able to withheld the truth?

I second moo_t's pessimistic views here.
Someone thought highly of the appointees, even said their character was "impeccable"! I have intimate knowledge of at least one member -- and that description makes me puke!:( No, i ain't giving any benefit of the doubt of "independence" and integrity to this panel. Only a Royal Commission of Inquiry would do justice, like the one into BMF scandal in the 1980s, but who remembers?
to me, more than one member pukes, desiderata. maybe latest from aisehman on restricted scope of work will tell you that this independent probe is no more than a charade to buy time. nothig less than a Royal Commision will do. But which government( especially those corrupt ones) would lend you the rope to hang them. so, a petition to the King is one of the ways. support the petition and send your name and ic no to savethejudiciary@gmail.com
It's a fortiori that the report will be in BN's `favour' due to insufficient evidence/proof!- Mmudahlupa
From the news interview, Haidar's statements does not instil any confidence at all. Since he is already prejudice towards the fact that it is a doctored video from his body language.
It will just be a waste of public's money which the Pee Am is so good at wasting for his own comfort.
Tan Sri Haidar's creditablity is questionable. He dirtied his hands as per Tun Salleh Abas's case. He was contributary and a party equally instrumental leading to Tun Salleh's departure. He did not make any attempt to block injustices ( a failure of duty by administarator or officer of the Palace of Justice )
As for Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye ( sudah banyak termakan budi ). With due respect to him, he simply will not be able to be objectively sincere and truthful to fulfil his assigned task.
As regards to Mahadev Shanker that link to CIMB can be crucially or even more important than proving if indeed the video recording is truly an authentic object.
I can therefore, conclude that the finding or outcome of the Independent Panel will be basically simple...THE VIDEO CLIP IN QUESTION IS NOT AUTHENTIC ... and case is hereby closed.
Lee Lam Thye is but a big big big disappointment. He should not have accepted the appointment especially for one who had been in Malaysian politics for so many years. By now he should UMNO's modus operandi that at the end of the day, this is nothing more than a charade. If UMNO influence is felt in the investigation and at the end of it all, the report is made against the video disclosure, Lee Lam Thye would have dug his grave as being one of UMNO's appendages, just like the MCA. If I were Lee Lam Thye, don't accept the appointment and let whatever integrity you have earned todate intact and impeccable.
billy
how to get onto the board of UMNO companies? how to be the Chairman of National Service? How to get onto the board of so many private and public companies?
So, do you expect him to reject the bidding of the powers-that-be? anyway, the "investigation" is a charade, we all know except for the kampung folks.
Sdr Lee is just another mercenary..he abandoned the people who kept him in office..elections after elections they voted him..if he really wanted to continue to serve his constituents..he could fight on as independent ticket and would still win..
