The wedding was lovely, except for the flowers: They were the wrong color.
So says the bride, Elana Glatt, who was so upset that she sued the florist and alleged breach of contract.
She says Posy Floral Design in Manhattan substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green ones she had specified for 22 centerpieces.
The flowers cost $27,435.14. The lawsuit asks for more than $400,000 in restitution and damages.
Stamos Arakas, the florist, said that he and his wife, Paula, tried to match the color of the hydrangeas with a picture Glatt had given them, but explained to her that the colors might not look the same.
“My father used to tell me, ‘Don’t deal with the lawyers,” Arakas said. “Maybe he was right, God bless his soul.”
Is it true of all lawyers? Scary isn't it? can't do business with lawyers and spouse of lawyers?
Lessons learn: I don't want to be a lawyer!!!!

a consequent obligation of lawyers is to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct...is extinct.

That's hell lots of money on flower.
Is it a trap? Or did the florist take advantage and overcharge? Interesting to follow up.
Doc, I will rather watch the whole sandiwara than passing prejudice. ;)
Moo_t,
For $27,000 it must be something that the customer who felt worthy to pay for. The interesting point is that she is claiming $400,000. I wonder how she could convince the court of the damages suffered as the law requires evidential loss and damages for the claim to succeed. By the way, that statement of jest was made by the florist.
Won't happen here in Malaysia. Nobody layan civil case one. Our court got other more important things to do. Like? Keeping a lookout for collapsing ceilings..
A lot like the Korean laundry shop being sued for millions by a Black American politician for misplacing his trousers. This probably made Cho Seung-hui lost his mind and then gun down 32 in Virginia Tech
