Spinning another Survey

Today, 17th Dec 2007 - Another Survey Spin: No Street Protests

A large majority of Malaysians are against street protests and have backed the government’s decision to use the laws to stop anyone from threatening racial peace and harmony.

This was revealed in a survey conducted recently by the Merdeka Centre between Dec 17 and 21. (refer to printed notes)

Eight hundred and sixty one respondents from throughout the country, who were randomly selected along the lines of state of residence, ethnicity, gender and age (21 and above) were interviewed over the telephone for the survey.

Fifty-six percent of the respondents felt that street demonstrations or illegal public gatherings would likely turn violent but 27% disagreed.

On the question of who or what was likely to be the main cause for some demonstrations to turn violent:

32% said violence was caused by unruly demonstrators, 29% believed instigators or provocateurs in the crowd were to blame, and 20% cited the actions of the police as being the likely cause of violence.

When the respondents were asked if they were aware of the two illegal demonstrations in Kuala Lumpur:

– 54% said they were aware of Bersih’s protest on Nov 10, while

- 77% were aware of the illegal Hindraf gathering on Nov 25.

So, 46% of respondent wasn't even aware of Bersih's rally, and 23% wasn't aware of Hindraf gathering,

The surveyor did not asked them whether how many per cent of them had join the rally & gathering.

Are they interviewing the wrong people, or just picking up some children anywhere to conduct such a survey?

Have you ever wondered that the few surveys conducted, if ever they are submitted for as a thesis or dissertation for an academic qualification, do you think the size of the sample can qualify to be representative of the population? I am an academician, and my answer is: Rejected sample size; not reflective; and questions scewed right.

Howsy highlight to me the dates... I wonder? Puzzled? see below.

The StarOnline version quickly removed the dates...

Original printed news and Online script:

If you believe all these cock & bull, might as well...

sex survey shows :

"sex is one of the most beautiful, natural, wholesome things that money can buy."

"women say they feel more comfortable undressing in front of men than they do undressing in front of other women. They say that women are too judgmental, where, of course, men are just grateful."

"it has been determined, the most used sexual position for married
couples is a doggie position.
the husband sits up and begs.
the wife rolls over and plays dead."

"a recent study was made to find out what days men prefer to have sex? It was found that men preferred to engage in sexual activity on the days that started with "T": Tuesday, Thursday, Thanksgiving, Today, Tomorrow, Thaturday and Thunday."

Lucia,

Read the survey carefully... it's fun. The survey was supposed to be completed by 21st Dec. Today is only 17th Dec and the results already published.

Beeranyone,

I suppose you and Sharing are synonymous and "Sharing" the same soul. Poets are poets!

Surveys after surveys to plot figures from one spot!

Number of People in the walks
with number of walks are facts
to be denied not!

Appeals after appeals including faxes which could have been lost!

Towards numbers they make their own figures.
Tricks in a stack
against facts to come or passed!

Apparently this is for something in mind to happen in this week
but forgetting date cannot cheat!

A threat of ISA or supporting "SCC"
the "law" they want to erect?

aiyo! betul betul koyak. I think maybe they are suppose to publish this piece after 21st Dec or there is a last minute change in directive from Minister of Misinformation, so got haywired and here is it zamzamalikazam...

Eh, ever wonder why you and I was never part of the 'random' telephone survey.

Next time do not even utter the word 'cina babi' to me cos i'll use ISA on your ass + your whole family's asses cos you are threatening racial peace n harmony also...niamah!

And har, why dont they mentioned specificallly the use of ISA, whether it is suported or not? If you were to call me up and ask, "hello, if there is a group who are threatening the peace and stability of the country, would u allow the government to use all the legal means to pursue the matter against them?". Then i will be thinking,"Ofcourse la. Takkan wan the government to be samseng and settle at some lorong belakang". But if they were to ask,"u support to even use ISA against them?", that will surely get me to think twice.

I know alot of people outside KL were not aware of the Bersih rally. For those who found out reading the papers, I dun blame them for thinking the protesters were at fault.

Afterall, they read the papers so, rubbish in, rubbish out.

Lies, lies and more lies. Nothing new.

Is like when we go into the cinema to watch the latest movies, we pay for the tixs to get lied to. When we are born Malaysians, destiny dictates that we MUST be lied to for the rest of our lives by our government. Sad yet true.

Tis is the Malaysian way.
