DAP: What Kit Siang failed to do all along

Big News!
Front Page of TheStar & NST

Fong Po Kuan, the MP of Batu Gajah shocked the people, the DAP members and sympathizers, and in particular, Kit Siang's cyber followers and supporters.

What had been brewing in DAP Perak was unknown to most; but one thing was certain - the DAP Perak must be in shambles. I do not think Fong Po Kuan is the only victim of party politics and DAP internal strife. It does show a lack of a Visionary leadership in DAP Perak.

But the voters would still vote for the opposition, not because DAP have the right candidates, but because the people are fed up with the massive pillages of the Barisan government, the judicial scandals, the insensitiveness and lack of compassionate towards the Indian plights other than lip services, and the onslaught of the UMNO representatives and the little napoleons, gifted by UMNO, on the personal affairs on the citizens, in particular, religious freedom such as the decision to stop the Mazu Statute project in Kudat, Sabah, the confiscation of Christian books for children because it depicts pictures of Moses and Noah which the Islamic enforcers said was against Islam, and so many other issues, which cause nostalgia.

However, the people would like Lim Kit Siang to show good example and good leadership by cleaning up his house and put things back in order. The DAP must show that they have the right attitude to be representatives of the State and Federal Legislatures. They just can't be elected by mere dissenters of the current system alone; they had to win by merit and competency. They had to show adequate confidence that the people can rely upon them.

The problem is not only in DAP Perak, but include DAP Penang where there were much dissents and objections against the injection of parachute candidates. TheStar reported that Penang sole state representative, Phee Boon Poh had called the DAP bosses to "Hiak Chew" (eat banana, or "go fly kite"). The Star had shown to be relentless in their pursuit to seek greater publicity for the DAP, amid the other side of it. The Hiak Chew article was almost half a page whereas it was only a small print regarding Samy's heckling by the Indians in Prai.

Clearly, the main stream media is working hard to portray the opposition parties as chaotic lame ducks and lacking in integrity and leadership. However, they could do it by the mere fact that the opposition parties do have such problems and weaknesses of which the party leaders had not ironed them out in all the years.

The DAP must be aware of the human psychology of thinking. As enunciated by Arthur Schopenhaeur, "When we read, another person thinks for us; we merely repeat his mental process. So it comes about that if anyone spends almost the whole day in reading, he gradually loses his capacity for thinking." The main stream media is doing a great service to the incumbent powers.

However, the people knows the opposition will not win enough seats to capture any state or form the government; the Barisan government will be voted in to rule again; that's a certainty and we shall have another 4 years of groaning and moaning, and the imminent rise of a new young turk who would singlehandedly lead the PM by the nose, as a means to his desired end.

Hence, we shall usher-in the new era, the era of the Khairy Dynasty! Hail Khairy! Hail Pak Lah! And Hail, the Corrupt and Kleptocrats! Hail the Corridors of Wealth for the few!

i really wonder DAP and oppos members really enjoy being MP or state exco? what's the benefit of being oppos MP other than 5k per month wage when you're denied of everything, your plea fell deaf ears, need to travel to KL for parliament seating, gather question to raise in parliament but expect there will be no reply, being mocked and jested by 90%+ majority of "uneducated" MP, etc. and when you voice for rebuttal, you get suspended for 6-mths (and probably jailed or ISAed) without pay somemore. and even if you're right in the argument, the press will still label as bad guy, insensitive, intolerence, chauvinism, the list will go on...

Put it as guan eng's shoe, this guy jailed just to fight somebody cause, and he and karpal was sent to ISA before. and ppl say is their fault for being chavinistic! how many DAP members are willing for this ? if i'm dap MP and after some 2-3 terms i oso quitlah.

Easy say than do - 2 terms is enough lah Fong P Kuan. Let others continue, claiming u r the best 4 Batu Gajah is utmost ridiculous, u r married now, go have a gud live and enjoy, don't complain and give a bad picture to DAP where you work and shit for many years. You want to get out, just quit without all nonsense statements. In fact, Malaysia don't need good MP's, donkeys are gud enough and we have many lining up and warming the parliament and state seats. Uncle Kit Siang keep ur good work until u find a gud replacement 4 u in parliament, u r old but like gold to the rakyat. u r still relevant...Karpal train ur kids so that they can roar like a lion like you, legal lions. Guan Eng learn from past mistakes, be smart to out smart donkeys in parliment. this time around we are giviong a very big mandate to the opposition, stop bickering internally, get united to take over the govt....there is no second chance for u and DAP....Gud LUCK.

party more important or individual representative more important? or do we strike a balance between both? i think there should be a balance, ying-yang. Candidates recommended by HQ must learn to co-exist with existing local representative, otherwise, they may feel left out...like certain big shot in PPP now crying foul. Local representative must understand the main objective of DAP, that is to deny BN 2/3. The representative selected by central committee are not any simple joe. Granted that they may not know with such depth about the local ppl and conditions like you but they have wider appeals and more suited to be MP. Representative like Jeff and Karpal are vital for Malaysians as a whole, not only Penang. So Mr Pee, don't simply tell you own party members to 'hiak chew' or the whole party including yourself will end up loosing for not accomplishing anything. that time everyone really 'hiak chew' lor!

I am thinking about the pieces on this quiting part. There is many factors cause this, although DAP culture should take part of the blame . But it is what MSM focusing.

In fact, it can be cumulative of reason that cause Po Kuan to switch character from PM to become a wife and a mother. But it is up to her to make up her mind whether to fight as a mother for her children future.

Denzook,

Arthur Schopenhauer said: "The good man asks not so much for happiness as for an opportunity to exercise his capacities; and if he must pay the penalty of pain for this freedom and this power he makes the forfeit cheerfully; it is not too great a price."

The Other Press,

Thanks for your participation in this discourse.

However, I believed DAP have much house cleaning to do and Kit Siang has the responsibility to act wisely and fairly.

Ycg,

Of course Party should be more important than individuals; but it is individuals that makes up the party.

Cakap Mesti Bikin Siap Siap,

I believed there are factual issues of discontent and power-play in DAP Perak and we can't shut an eye if we expect DAP to represent the rakyat if they themselves proved to be far worse than the BN.

Moo_t,

I am more in favor of your viewpoint; as amongst the comments so far, you've a more critical observation and a reflective attitude.
