Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has announced that Parliament and the state assemblies have been dissolved, paving the way for the 12th general election.
At a hastily convened press conference at his office Wednesday afternoon, he said he had met the Yang Di Pertuan Agong in the morning and received His Majesty's consent to dissolve Parliament.
"I've informed Parliament and the Election Commission," Abdullah said.
The Prime Minister declined to speculate on what date Malaysians would cast their ballots, saying that it would be up to the Election Commission (EC) to decide.
"I am confident of winning, and I hope that we will retain our two-thirds majority," he said.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission said it would announce polling and nomination day on Thursday at its office in Putrajaya.
“We have got the declaration on the dissolution of Parliament by the Yang Di Pertuan Agong and the announcement of nomination and polling will be done tomorrow," said EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman.

I'm not a Malay or a Kelantanese but in the past I voted PAS & other Opposition all the time. At least, (I believe) the PAS didn't lie to me.
PAS objective is clear i.e. to setup an islamic state but we also know that it's impossible for them to get two third majority seats in parliament to do that. That's why I felt safe to vote for them at this moment.
Compare with UMNO (& those running dogs), they have already (slowly) turn Malaysia into an islamic state without you feeling the PAIN. When Mahatir & Najib publicly announced that we are already an islamic state, many still argue & denied it. What's the difference, we are already a quasi islamic state. We suddenly wake up & realised those Body snatching cases, Sharia law above common law etc... So what's there to be afraid about PAS?? DAP should work together with PAS. DAP need Malay votes & PAS need non-Malay votes.
