Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today announced that PKR’s Muhammad Fairuz Khairuddin and DAP’s P Ramasamy would be made the state’s deputy chief ministers.
Muhammad Fairuz will be the Deputy CM 1 and Ramasamy, the Deputy CM 2.
Guan Eng said the decision to pick the duo was to have a leadership to represent all communities in Penang.
This is the first time an Indian has been awarded such a high post in Malaysia.
This is leadership! First step right; hope he continues with a full multi-racial concept design and implementation.
The Malays in Penang, especially the members and officials of Malay Chamber of Commerce are still paranoid. They feared they would not get what they had got from the previous Gerakan Govt. They are so used to cronyism and nepotism, and they also feared that they would not survive without the NEP and Close-One-Eye Tender System.
Lim Guan Eng had to prove them wrong. The Penang Govt must prove that they can promote and protect the interest of the Malays, the Indians as well as the Chinese and all other Malaysians. The Malays in fact should improve and become more prosperous with a fair, just and equitable system because it was the crony-nepotists system that benefit a few Malays only, and an equitable, just and fair system will benefit all Malays, and never to the detriments of all others, and shall never isolate any community; all assistance and provisions by the state govt. are allocated and distributed over the whole spectrum of the population of the state, benefiting everyone regardless of race or creed, and the distribution of benefits will first be given priority to those poor and needy, of which the ordinary Malays and Indians would be the greater beneficiary. The rich Malays will not be allowed to take these benefits allocated for the poor Malays; and the same goes to the Indians and Chinese.
In general, the ordinary Chinese are more desirous of peace and tranquility, without constant threat of religious bigotry by the little napoleons and by BN Muslim-MPs and racial threats and oppression by UMNO General Assembly members.
In economics and commerce, the Chinese are not cultured to seek the gravy train from rent-seeking or handouts, with the exception of the MCA as they are cultured and adapted to the crony-rent seeking BN system.
The narcissistic Chinese and their egocentric dogmas can never be dismantled - Xiang San Yi Kai, Pen Sing Nun Yi (you can move the mountain but not change their character); they are "kiasu" and "ai bin" and they are proud of their taoist culture and heritage. Their face is thin-skin; their pride will be dented if others said they become wealthy without meritocracy.
Give the Chinese a fair chance and opportunity in the society, and make the society almost equal, and the Chinese get satisfied and unperturbed. Its the same with the educational system which was their main concern. No Chinese parents would ask politicians or the govt for help to get places in universities for their children if their children gets, example, 2-Cs and 2-Ds for their STPM. The problem is, these children gets 2As and 2Bs, or 1A and 3Bs, or 3Bs and 1c, and they were not offered places in public universities of which they found out that their classmates who had lesser results were given scholarships by JPA to study overseas; and those who didn't do well in SPM were offered scholarships to do metriculations and awarded with scholarships later to do their degrees overseas. How could they not be angry with the minister and the BN govt?
Lets be one and the only Malaysian citizens; no more dividing ourselves and differentiating ourselves by races and religion. Religion is individualistic and each individual have that right to the religion they chose to believed; its between them and God and not for anyone else to dictate.
We hope Penang, Perak, Kedah, Selangor and Kelantan will do all Malaysians a favor by providing the role model of a clean and transparent government which prosper the rakyat as a whole and is virtuous and just. This would inevitably caused the BN to change in tandem, failure which BN would become irrelevant.
Can Barisan Rakyat governments do it? Show us, DAP-PKR-PAS! Prove to BN with the role model and show to the Malays they are better off with BR; and don't forget the Chinese and Indians too.

applause - that's what i fully agree for the proposal - 2 deputy minister...
Denzook,
I applaud Guan Eng's wisdom too. I hope the DCM will not be just puppet but would be given strong mandate and responsibilities.
Power-crazy mca, mic, umno and gerakan political rats can still opt to contest in the coming elections for municipal councellors in Penang, which will be the first in this country since umno abolished such elections years ago
Penang CM is off to a good start. Hope we will hear more "good" news from other BR states.
All Indian parties to merge today.
Tell then that race based racist parties's era is gone.

methink what is more important is that the UMNOputera or some non UMNOputera malays in penang would accept guan eng's full mutli-racial concept without getting paranoid or fearful. you are right, guan eng will have to convince them and i can foresee it won't be easy at all.
All Indian parties to merge today.... What's going to happen to those Chinese buggers in PPP?
The options opened to them are:
A. Dye themselves black
B. Adopt Indian names
C. Convert to Hinduism
D. Crawl back to the parties they were sacked from
haha... anon 1:44pm ... you are funny esp the option D
See Fei,
We should observe radical change; for the better.
Lucia,
I don't think it is difficult; what is needed is hard work and sincerity, and most of all, pay attention to customs and cultures - i.e. be sensitive to others' customs and cultures. Doing good does not mean being insensitive to others; there's a need of empathy and goodwill; be understanding and be kind.
CK Tan,
Samy knows MIC must get Subramaniam and IFP back to consolidate itself.
