Proton recalls Savvy to check wheel bearing problem
Proton is recalling its Savvy cars to address the possibility of water entry into the rear wheel bearing which could lead to a malfunction.
“The safety and satisfaction of our customers is a primary concern. As a precautionary measure, we are recalling all Savvy’s for inspection and repair.
We do apologise to all Savvy owners for any inconvenience,” managing director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said in a statement here today.
The recall will affect 34,000 Savvy cars and Proton will conduct the necessary checks and replacements at no cost to the customer.
Proton said all Savvy owners are advised to take their cars to the nearest Proton Edar or EON service branches for an inspection.
“This recall is purely a precautionary measure as the convenience and safety of customers is Proton’s highest priority,” Proton said.

dont Rakyat ever learnt that dont ever ever buy a Proton Car. Period!
a 100 years old FORD, would have quality far better and comfort greater than a Perdana V6.
Savvy, Waja, Perdana or any other name produce using Proton badge would have quality similar if not less than a Bullock Cart.
anyhow, thank you that Government brought in Proton or else we human beings will be torturing Horses, Goats, Cows, Water Buffalos...
we already seen Monkeys becoming like humans after ardous tremendous stress living surrounded by humans; good example Monkey Boy!
Is Proton really a bad car? I am a user of a Proton Wira model 2001, and I have found it fairly reliable...For 7 years, the car do not have any major problems, justa little problem here and there... Compared to the continentals such as Mercedes or Volve, Proton is a much simpler car to maintain... everywhere also most workshop can repair a proton wira... but with Volvo or Mercedes, especially the new models, you really need to identify the expert, or you will cause more problem to the car...
I have not experience any Japanese or Korean car, but I have been told these oriental cars also easy to maintain..
My only complaint with proton is that due to the National Car status, other cars have to be sold at higher price to protect Proton. Maybe all proton cars should be sold at RM20,000 lower than the current price, then it is really a national project which helps the Rakyat...
Hey even hondas have had recalls. Other manufacturers too but I just cant remeber. Honda is definite
this will only strenghten the AP King power....

Proton cars are not bad. Infact some of the models are really ok for the price we pay. It can be better if the quality is not compromised. So many times i used to drive my Wira to Terengganu from penang at all kinds of odd times and never had a single breakdown on the old road. The car is ok, just keep on improving.
