Jeff Ooi have a traffic car shock

MP Jeff Ooi's car was towed away by the traffic police because he was parking outside the Parliament house.

Jeff was shocked when he could not find his car after attending the official opening of Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara by the King.

Ooi said he was upset with the Parliament officials and the police as he was earlier instructed by the police to park outside the premises due to lack of parking space.

He said he was given a VIP parking pass that indicated section ‘E’ to display on his dashboard but no one knew where section ‘E’ was.

He explained that he did not display his MP crest on the seven-year-old Proton Wira as it was not his official car and he had borrowed the car from his wife.

“However I managed to collect my car later but am not sure if I would have to pay a fine,” Ooi told a press conference at the Parliament lobby.

Sorry to hear of your plight, YB Ooi. Get yourself a Merc and you'll not face problem again!!!

Thumbs Up Jeff

am proud of you; going work Parliament in Proton Wira - you are already a Wira by not feeling ashame moving about in commoners vehicle.

am very well aware that if you truly hard up for Mercedes Benz S300, you will instead "lepaking" with Mobsters and Monkeys at Plaza Damansara "Toll Booth"...

always remind yourself that 'true man never walk alone', and you are one of that man.... no need a big hummy dummy vehicle to move about!

am proud of you & keep it up; rakyat like me hoping you do well in serving the rakyat.

Ling Ling Chatt,

As an MP Jeff is entitled to an AP to buy Merc which is less than RM90,000. A Waja is more than 60k and Proton Perdana is more than 90k.

CK,

What's wrong with having a Merc which cost less than 90k with an AP which is an MP's entitlement?

Must respect this DAP YB. 7-year old car and a Proton Wira.

Such simplicity and patriotic as compared those single or double digit number plate of Mahsilly and Beemers of those BN's MPs.

Everybody have to accept that a merc will have more respect from the law even if it driven by an ordinary guy on the street.

CMBSS,

That's a borrowed car. Jeff has a better car in Penang.

Zach,

You are right. Merc earns respect from traffic police.

Ah, he didn't display his MP crest on his car, no wonder lah:). Like that susahlah, how u expect those lowly paid police to recognised u. No case lah.

original article says the Jeff will raise this matter in parliament. Aiyah!!!! Why so like that wan uh? Kalau kena vayar fine, bayar saja lah. After all, it was illegally parked. So, now Jeff thinks that he deserves special treatment lah. Belum sehari dalam Parliament, dah ecpect special treatment. I guess all the politicians are the same. Take care of themselves first, and always!!

original article says the Jeff will raise this matter in parliament? aiyo really ah? wasting time la ini macam. sendili tatak leti cari itu parking mau kecoh di parlimen ka? kita olang undi sama dia suruh dia raise the rakyat's matter not parking in parlimen duhh..

there's one MP from PKR drive MyVi have no problem displaying the MP crest and also have no problem finding the carpark. apa macam?

he didn't display this MP crest on the car, so he is at fault first, as the lot is for VIP only. it's a shame if he raise it in parliament for a pathetic things like this. the parliment is for the people matter first, not for his personal business. i hope guan eng can talk some sense into his guy, before he makes a monkey of himself.

How come the Parliament have not enough parking place for MP? If YB Ooi want to raise the issue in the Dewan, please do more research ie-any BN MP's car were towed away under tha same circumstances? Where actually is Section E? Any standard procedure dealing with parking in Parliament? Is MP entitled for parking lot in Parliament? Who actually managed traffic within Parliament- Police, DBKL, Parliament Staff? After getting all these info only then will YB Ooi have enough knowledge to debate and bring about same treatment to all MP. Use anecdotes such as the recent hoopla regarding Wilayah MP roundtable talk. Hopefully it will clear the airs about whether intentional 'hardship' was ever instituted against any PR MPs. The rotten smell is getting unbearble each passing days.

They are right Jeff, dont make a monkey of yourself. You are put there to raise more pressing issues affecting malaysians. Concentrate on that.
If you are at fault then you are at fault. Just accept that. Common people like us paying all kind of taxes and traffic n parking fines all the time and never for a moment thought of asking any MP to take it to Parliament.
Do a good job in Parliament Jeff. Transform your bloggers view into reality in Parliament.
If you can afford a Merc go for it. If you think a wira is more practical esp for ppl like you who may park any where and get towed, stick to the wira.
BUT DONT LAH GIVE THE IMPRESSION YOU MUST DRIVE A WIRA TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE GRASSROOTS WHILE THE MERC IS PARKED AT HOME.
BE YOUR SELF AND DONT LET US DOWN ON CRITICAL ISSUES.

The whole story show Malaysia 3rd world mentality.

A man in German street that drive the newest model Mercedes E Class will still get fined if he break the rules.

In EU, even a MP drive a old 1980's car, nobody will look down on him. Except he can't get a 1980 car because strict emission ruling.

In fact, nobody in EU will ask , "what car you are driving" to show off individual wealth and prestiges . Many big company CEO don't drive but use public transport. And many EU Parliament member know how to take public transport.

OTH, I bet not many BN MP in Malaysia ever use the public bus services, nor the MRT/LRT/etc

-----------
On the parliament parking issue, I am surprise that there is no standard implemented to record car driving by MP. How difficult is it to register 250 cars? We are not live in 18th century. A guard can always check the belonging of the car using walkie talkie with their colleague that in front of computer screen or record books.

Are this yet another Mana Ada System for Malaysia Parliament?

Jeff should have gone to see nazri..he is minister in charge of parking, leaking toilets etc etc.

On a serious note, if Parliament cannot have 222 parking bays for MPs, then there is something definitely wrong with the person in charge. Is it Nazri?..or maybe they should have privatised it out to the Jaga kereta boys?

Dan Chee,

Your comment is fair. I also do not agree that Jeff should take such trivial matters in parliamentary debates. There are so many critical matters that MPs must forward their questions for Ministers to answer.

Denzook,

Sad to say, an ordinary human thinks and acts as extraordinary just because he is MP.

Electrocutioner,

Your points are noted and my answer is as above.

Moot,

Somehow our police officers have more respect for big cars. It's a perception only.

Artchan,

I agree with you that Jeff should have just meet up with Nazri to sort out this trivial problem.

hmm.... taking that to parliament is too much. agreed that it's some discrimination on your old car but tat's not something tat should be taken to parliament. hope it's just ur frustration meant to be a relieving joke jeff.

mave... u can get a mercedes 90k ah? good deal wor.... kah dah give one kah tat AP? haha...

Maverick SM said...

CK,

Jeff should be humble to accept it as the policeman was doing his job.

You want an AP? Be an MP!
