The Noble Quran

Qur'an 14:1

"Alif Laam Raa. A book which we have revealed to you (Muhammad) so that you may lead the people from out of the darknesses into the light by their Lord's leave to the path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy." [Qur'an 14:1]

The Quran is a Message from Allah to humanity. It was transmitted to us from the Almighty Himself (swt) to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. The message was given to the Prophet over a period spanning approximately 23 years (610 CE to 622 CE). The Prophet was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic, which is then translated into many other languages.

The Quran is one part of which form the basis of the doctrines of Islam. The second is the Sunnah of the Prophet. What makes the Quran different from the Sunnah is primarily its form. Unlike the Sunnah, the Quran is quite literally the Word of Allah, whereas the Sunnah was the wording and actions of the Prophet who was inspired by Allah.

Prophet Muhammad was the final Messenger of Allah to humanity, and therefore the Quran is the last Message which Allah has sent to us - nothing more; nothing less! It is an obligation for all Muslims to learn the knowledge and teachings and evaluate it to benefit themselves and for the betterment of mankind.

Allah has warned all Muslims to protect the Quran from human tampering by adding or subtracting any part of it.

"Verily, We reveal the reminder (Quran) and We are it's Guardian" Surah Al-Hijr:9

God Himself promise that He will protect His Words. Many attempts had been made to alter Quran but failed.
Human may do everything they can to uphold and protect what they believe but the final say is at the God's hand, of which in this case, He had given his word.

So God was too weak too protect the Tawrat and the Injil?

By the way, what is the meaning of aalif laam ra?

all about food said...

aaliff laam ra - there is no GOD besides ALLAH THE ONE. for muslim its ALLAH is our lord. so if taurat and injil they have their own follower and those followers have the right to belive in their religion. as yoru religion is your religion and muslim region let it be muslim religion. in islam we do belive that there is injil and taurat but those have been altered many times which totally become unacceptable in the muslim faith. and there has been many version of it that no one really know which ons is truth and which is not. whereas if you belivein ALLAH and the QURAN has always been the same since day one until now and ALLAH have mark the words. reason is when the revelation of taurat and injil to the people of the area has been altered and tempered many time, ALLAH put it a stop with the QURAN and the protection of it. so like i say its best to respect each other religion and be the religion to the one who belive in it without having to argue who is right and wrong.

I'm not a Muslim, but john stringer, I don't think that's what that script meant. I think what it means is that the holy book was placed in trust of mankind. Kinda like your dad giving you your first gadget and handing you the manual, telling you to read the manual before you handle the gadget. but most of us jump straight to the gadget before 'reading the instructions'.

Correct me if I'm wrong - just guessing :)

Respect the words and comment made by phillix.... Anyway, Al-Quran is a book full of wisdon and hidden beauty and can only be fully understood to those who are choosen to understand...

It can still be understand literally but the spiritual understanding will guide you from darkness int the light...

John Stringer,
The explanation of Allah's words (Alif. Lam. Ra.):
(Alif. Lam. Ra.) He says: I am Allah: I see what you say and do; it is also said that it is an oath by which Allah swore.

Quoting your question “So God was too weak to protect the Tawrat and the Injil?”

Your question indicates that you obviously don't know what the Quranic Words "Injil" and "Torah" mean. They don't mean the "New Testament" and "Old Testament". They mean the revelations sent to Jesus in Injil, and to Moses in Torah, peace be upon both of those two Prophets. The New Testament of today has little to do with what Jesus spoke. In fact, if you were to collect the quotes of Jesus from the NT, then you would only get a column and a half of News paper worth. That's all what you have from Jesus' quotes in the 33 years he lived among the People of Israel.

None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou not that Allah Hath power over all things?
(Qur'an Surah 2:106)

Good work Mav;

Open your blog for interfaith dialog. Here some word from Quran, the concept of God in Islam;

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[1] Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;

[2] Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;

[3] He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;

[4] And there is none like unto Him.
(Al Ikhlas 112: 1-4)

Noor,

I am glad you share your knowledge with us here. What you state is what was written,

John Stringer,

Allah can never be too weak; only human is weak and evil.

Alif Laam Raa means the Quran is a message from Allah to humanity.

Azlina,

Taurat dan Injil adalah daripada empat buah kitab Islam.

Phillix,

You are right.

Letting the time pass me by,

The Al Quran cannot be understood literally. The themes of the Quran are interwoven among the chapters, and the book is not in chronological order.

Each verse are revealed in scriptural and historical context and we can't take it using literal language. This is the main problem that caused massive controversial interpretation and division even amongst Muslim scholars.

Asyraf,

Injil do not represent the revelations of Jesus. It is commonly referred to the gospel of Jesus by his disciples.

The Injil spoken of by the Quran is not the New Testament. It is not the four Gospels now received as canonical. It is the single Gospel which, Islam teaches, was revealed to Jesus, and which he taught.

The Taurat is commonly referred to the Jewish scripture and at times equated with the old testament.

Basically, the Taurat is the books of Moses, the Pentateuch, and the Psalms of David (Zabur).

Azzam,

Thank you for joining us in the sharing of the knowledge. We can learn from each other and we hope all others would be postive and constructive with anticipations of learnings and enhancements of knowledge.

statistics says that malaysian read one book a year, i think that includes 'majalah gila gila'.

i am not saying reading quran is bad, but i think it's is very improtant to read much much more than just a book only. that's the only way to be very knowledgeable, and don't be overly obesessed by a single book. even the Quran has said that we must read widely to gain knowledge, but how many people actually followed?

hitler, the racist and evil person aside, has a good point, he is very smart. so is linclon, and sun yat sen. history says that they read a lot in their lifetime.

hitler, in particular, consume a volume of 3 libraries, ranging in all technical and govenance matters before becoming a party leader at 30+.
