Onlookers beaten and then charged for attempted murder?

Four onlookers caught unawares in the Bandar Mahkota Cheras (BMC) scuffle on the night of May 27, are being investigated for attempted murder and rioting, said Kajang police chief ACP Shakaruddin Che Mood.

According to the police chief, the four can be charged under Section 148 (for riot) and Section 307 (attempted murder) of the Penal Code.

The four are being probed for allegedly attempting to cause injuries to several police personnel near the barricaded toll-free access road in Bandar Mahkota Cheras.

On May 27, Chang Jiun Haur, Chan Siew Meng and two others were curious about the Bandar Cheras Mahkota gatherings of the residents and decided to have a good look over the fracas. However they decide to leave when the police field force arrived at the scene. While trying to leave the scene in a hurry the police claimed that they had attempted to run over several members of the riot squad guarding the disputed barricade near BMC with their Proton Wira.

Chang was then beaten up by about 20 riot police personnel on that night.

He was admitted into the intensive care unit at Kajang general hospital by the police. Chang was battered until he suffered grievous body and head injuries and was deeply traumatized by the incident.

The picture on the left is Chang Jiun Haur.

He was beaten up by about 20 riot police.

Now, the police may charge him and his sister and boss for attempted murder?

I thought the police should be investigating whether the excessive use of force by the police personnels on an ordinary citizen, causing a person to suffer severe physical injuries and psychiatric injuries, would be classified as an attempted murder. Instead, this pitiful victim will now be investigated for attempted murder.

What kind of justice system did we have? Is this nation a democratic country? Do we practice the rule of law and the rule of natural justice?

They were hungry for blood and Chang was their unfortunate victim. I have been of the view that Malaysians fear the police more than the criminals. This was a very apt example why we fear them.

Zawi,

It was the police that fear the small boy and his sister and had to whack him kou-kou.

CK,

I tend to agree with your point.

Funny thing is PM and DPM very quiet despite so many people got injured. I am very sad and disappointed, i don't think or hope my current PM and DPM can and will protect me. So what do they expect me to think and do???!!!

This is what I call intimidating! Maybe police force is trying to frighten and shake Chang up so that Chang "will know what to say" when he is question? Hmmm...

Maybe someone should offer Chang a damn kow kow lawyer! Fight this case.. tell those POLIS RAJA DI MALAYSIA that they can stick their big bully tactics up where it should belong... up in their ARSE! Snuggly I may add!

Denzook,

I don't think he tried to ramp the police; I think he was driving his way out of the cramped area filled with FRU loitering everywhere and blocking his driveway.

CK,

I don't think we can hope for the whole cabinet to protect the citizen. We better depend on dogs.

Bunnies,

This is not intimidation; this is suppression and oppression.

Denzook,

Imagine you want to riot and ramp into policeman, and commit a serious crime (injuries to a police officer and maybe murder), and then you bring your sister and boss along to see how you do it?

does it sounds logical? Do you do it with your drinking buddy or with your sister when you want to commit a crime, using your own car (with the plate no to be seem) in a public area and with your family members along.

He said that he was there to see what is going on as reported in the newspaper. I think it is a more logical explaination as to whata happened.
