Perak Mufti says Mahathir is wrong

Perak Mufti Datuk Seri Harussani Zakaria says Mahathir should respect the present leadership and give the present leadership a chance to build the nation.

Harussani said Tun Dr Mahathir should not be causing others to be disloyal, disobedient and disrespectful to the current leadership.

"If there is something to be corrected, he should go directly to his successor or present his grouses in a proper manner. Say it nicely. Then such incidents won't happen," Harussani has this to advice Mahathir.

With Dr Mahathir resigning from the party where he had much influence, many would follow him, thus causing a great rife, especially among Malays, he said.

Malays who are divided due to political differences are immature, Harussani said.

Source: NST: It's immature, says Perak mufti

Is Harrusani saying that Mahathir is dividing the Malays and acting to destroy the Malays? But Mahathir is Malay and a former Prime Minister for 22 years?

No Sultans had commented because they know their role in the parliamentary monarchy system of governmental system. But it seems that a man appointed to manage a religion wants to have a say in the way politics is managed and ruled. It is observed to be a conflict with the role and duties of a civil servant who is appointed into a religious position and is supposed to be apolitical.

Over to you, Tun Mahathir.

Mufti talked to much! He don't realize that Malays already divided.
"If there is something to be corrected, he should go directly to his successor or present his grouses in a proper manner. Say it nicely. Then such incidents won't happen,"Harussani but what if the leader don't want to listen, Mahathir only wants to prevent UMNO from crumble under Pak Lah

So far the Tingkat 4 boys are doing good job. Deflecting Badawi's problem to Mahathir (who is ex and no longer in power).

And we Rakyat, happily fall into this mindset and conditioned ourself to "hate" Mahathir in line with the current PM's intention.

Have we Rakyat thought of moving the nation forward? Why are we blocked from moving forward? I am sad why we Rakyat are so simple minded to fall into this media trap by Badawi & 4th floor gangs.

I survey more than 30 blogs today of Msian politic, all fall into this media trap. Sad, after 50 years and 8 March 2008 Tsunami, we still have not learn.

Malaysian memang mudah lupa.

Good luck Malaysian.

The mufti should focus on religion and leave the politicking out of it. I didnt know that DrM's departure has anything to do with religion.

Roger Waters,

I am perplexed by your statement. Which part of any articles are played by the 4th floor boys, or are you playing it up for the 4th floor boys?

I wonder if you already had preconceived mind and whether you read the articles in the blogs carefully. Take for example this piece that I wrote where you appended your comment. Which part have I written on something which you called 'Hate' for Mahathir? You didn't shown you did understand, did you?

If I'm the current PM, I'll pretend dont know about Dr M quiting his membership in Umno. So what!! Who cares!! Dr M pasang umpan tuh. Tgk brp org akan follow dia quit.

But, kalau kita lihat sejarah Umno, Umno cuma berpecah-belah since Dr M jadi Presiden. 1st pecah thn 1988 hingga lahirnya Umno Baru & S46, then 1998 lalu wujudnya Parti Keadilan Nasional & now 2008 dia nak pecahkan lagi Umno.

Dahsyat Dr M ni kan? Kan? Kan?

Beeranyone,

Islam and politics are synonymous, but the Mufti has no role to play partisan politics. They can express the teachings of the Quran pertaining to politics and religion but not to take sides without any revelation of the facts of the case.

There are substance in what Mahathir is fighting Pak Lah though Mahathir could possibly be wrong in his viewpoints.

Islam in the Quran do exalt muslims to obey and respect their leaders but not to the extent of associating and agreeing with the actions which do not conform with the Islamic virtues such as corruption, abuse of power, self-interests, cheating and propagating lies.

Palahutak,

You may be right; but Pak Lah do have a lot of worries. More resignations may occur in the next few days and if that happens Pak Lah will be in trouble. He is surely worrying.

Good observation by Roger Waters. Level 4 may indeed being busy creating diversions from the real issues.

This is the same mufti that caused a near riot outside a church in Ipoh on rumours of mass conversion?

Maybe he should give up Mufti post and go into politics.

Sue.Aleen said...

maybe u shouldn't see his title, see him as a rakyat, see him as someone who wants to speak out voice of his heart...

we should respect each other.. tegur menegur tu tak salah pun dalam Islam...

maybe he also see what's wrong with the previous led government by che det...

i agree with this statement...

The Perak Mufti is reaching out to the Malays. That's why most of us here who are non-malays do not seem to grasp the concept. The muftis are highly regarded by the malay community, and they are upholded as the ones saying what is supposedly correct in the malay or muslim point of view. What we can at least do try to understand is to understand their perspective, we dont have to agree to it, but we must to also learn to respect another religion's or culture's views.

And talking about 4th floor boys. That is totally irrelevant and stupid.

Artchan,

You have a good point.

Suealeen,

As a religious leader he should understand his precarious position and the duties when giving advices. This issue is about two political leaders and both of whom are/was PM and any advices have an impact on the members of that institution.

Sandyow,

As to your pointview on the mufti, refer to my comment above.

With regards to the 4th floor boys, I agree in total that this comment and reference is irrelevant to this article and I agree wholeheartedly with you.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Mahathir has been a member of Umno as far back as 1946.

If he joined in 1946 then he has forgotton what inspired him to join in the first place,

Mahathir is not UMNO
UMNO is not Mahathir

“UMNO itulah Melayu
Melayu itulah UMNO”………Dato Onn 1946
