Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob has asked Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir to resign as Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chairman, citing the post as a government appointment."The post belongs to the government. As he (Mokhzani) has left Umno, in principle, he has to relinquish the position," said Ismail Sabri, citing SIC as a subsidiary of Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad, which is controlled by the government through Khazanah Holdings.
Ismail Sabri yesterday boycotted the launching ceremony of the Malaysian International Super GT held at the ministry. By coincidence, he chaired a post-cabinet meeting of his ministry in the same building.
Asked why he did not attend the ceremony, he said, "In principle when he (Mokhzani) left Umno because he no longer had faith in the prime minister's (Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) leadership, he is also not confident of me as a minister appointed by the prime minister.
"So why should I attend the ceremony? It's not that I do not like motoring sports, but as a cabinet member, it was not proper," said Ismail Sabri.
In his response, Mokhzani who was the former Umno Youth secretary said he would not step down as there was no directive from MAHB or the Finance Ministry.
He said Ismail Sabri should refer the matter to MAHB or the Finance Ministry.

Ismail Sabri was right; that chairmanship belongs to the government;but it do not belong to Umno per se.
The government belongs to the people, the rakyat, the citizen.
And those elected by the people to be law-makers have the responsibility and fiduciary duties to manage government assets for the entire benefit of the nation as a whole and which should derive benefits absolutely in the interest of the rakyat.
Does Umno leaders understand what is a government?Or are they treating the government as their private and personal property?
Managing government asset is a duty, not a privilege.

It is not another politician; it is almost all the politicians in BN and in particular, Umno.
Tak tahu kah, all this while UMNO think they are government and no one else, not even other components parties in BN until PR.
So surely UMNO also treat this country belong solely to them and not the people lah.
Therefore, to them kalah one seat also tak boleh lah. So now kalah so many federal seats and states, they will spin and twist with no regards to the well-being of the people and country lor. Even to the extent of people get injured or died or kena tangkap without reasons. That is UMNO for you!

It is known fact that the whole of Mokhzani's family members is involved in the SIC and organizing of the F1. Like, for example his wife and brothers chairs the event company that manages activities related to F1. They also are the ones organising the gala dinner, also part of the F1. You happen to know that this involves MILLIONS in monetary transactions right? I'm guessing this is also the reason Mokhzani do NOT wnat to let go of his post. Of course he still wants his family to earn millions from the F1!
But that saying, why the heck does the SIC have to belong to this "elite family" instead? It certainly does not belong to umno, and NO also, definitely NOT to some certain minority group like this. His gang all kaya, we all leh??

That's not true; not his whole family. His wife and also Mirzan are both directors of a company appointed to manage those events. They are doing a great job just like the monsoon cup in trengganu. This is what it is about. Pak Lah's son and half-son takes Terengganu fortune and partially Petronas projects; Mahathir's children take the SIC and Petronas projects. Win-Win!!!

nobody is pushing for pak lah's people to drop petronas projects, but people are screaming for mokhzani to step away from SIC. doesnt that show anything about how mokhzani is with the trust of the people? obviously something is wrong somewhere.
