Sultan Selangor unhappy over previous ADUNs spending

The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has expressed grave concern over the issue of previous state administration assemblymen spending their RM27mil allocation for this year in a matter of months.

“I view seriously the spending of the allocation for assemblymen in the first two months of this year.

“Efforts to improve efficacy of the state will be meaningless if wastage or inappropriate spending goes on,” he said during his speech at the opening of 12th state legislative assembly here on Wednesday.

He said efficiency in managing finances was crucial to maximising the state’s income so it could roll out more benefits for the people.

The Sultan also said he wanted more aggressive efforts and for rules to be relaxed, to attract more foreign and Malaysian investors to the state.

He said the state government should seek improvements in the manufacturing, services, tourism and agriculture sectors, and also promote small and medium scale industries.

Could Barisan leaders and the PM pay an audience to the Sultan and explain to him how the money was eaten away and how the pillage was allowed.

no one knows actually until the new state government digging things out. of course la the previous govt quickly spend it, just incase they lost to opposition team, but at least they have the money and spend to buy new cars, new house and holiday trips. 27 milion esy to spend. if you give 27 excos of previous state each RM1mil. then to buy a Merc almost RM500K, then hous ealso not cheap, another house bungalow can cost more than RM500k. of course finish. that doesn't included the hermes bag around RM26K/each, JEWWELLERY like hollywood people use from tiffany or neil lang or habib which can cause another few hundreds thousand. that should easily spend in 3 days. that if you give to 27 excos. but since it took months , it means that the person who got the allocation is few, so they took longer time to spend. 1 mil is nothing now.

The ADUN allocations were given under very loose Terms and Conditions.
Its likely unethical but maybe not illegal,as long as they can prove the expenditure went into some legitimate projects i.e. there is an audit trail of invoices and receipts, and proof of actual goods and services rendered in the constituency.

A lesson here for PR ADUNs as well - take care of the Rakyat's money wisely.

Artchan,

I think what's important is the fact that the Sultan had come out to voice his discontent and concern.

Equally, we need the Sultan to play a positive role towards the management of the State in the check and balance process ensuring a clean and efficient government and not just for a certain group of people to use the Sultan's name to play up racial sentiments and rhetorics which stirs up racial sentiments to propagate a new kind of equality and justice which goes beyond that provided in the constitution.

Ling Ling Chatt,

We shouldn't be myopic. We have concerns and dissatisfactions with the PM and we voice it; but we also have recalcitrants who is abusing the situations for self-interests and we can't justify two wrong to make one right.

Kittykat46,

I agree with you. PR ADUNs must prove that they are clean and they work for the interests of the rakyat. But they did not proof as such.

Edi,

You naughty.
