Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the Worlds;
Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment,
Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
Show us the straight way,
The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed; Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger
nor of those who go astray.
- Surah 1: Al Fatihah
Al Fatihah is the opening of the Scripture or Ummu 'l-Quran, often called the Lord's Prayer of the Muslims.
It is an essential part of all Muslim worship and no solemn contract or transaction is complete unless it is recited.
The date of the revelation was uncertain but the scholars believed that it was revealed before the fourth year of the Prophet's Mission (the tenth year before the hijrah). In that year, as a result of insult and attack by the idolaters, the Prophet arranged for the services, which had till then been held out of doors, to take place in a private house.
Al-Islam means "The Surrender", i.e. man's surrender to God's will and purpose.

what's your religion since you are a chinese, or have you already converted to islam? how about writing a word or two about the wisdom of chinese or christian sayings, if not yet a muslim?
My eldest daughter is named `Nurul Fatihah'; the Light of al-Fatihah / The Beginning Light. The meaning is so deep, it is complete Guide in itself.
Gukita,
You have given a good name to your daughter and I believed she will be blessed.
