CID chief blames banks for ATM robberies

Federal CID director Commissioner Datuk Mohd Bakri Zinin said: "Banks and financial institutions are primarily responsible for the robberies that occur at their outlets".

He said the recent spate of robberies of and from the automatic teller machines (ATM) was due to their negligence.

"We have found that most banks and financial institutions do not upgrade or maintain their security systems like they are supposed to.

"Our findings also show that some robberies involved staff and security personnel that the banks failed to monitor properly," Comm Mohd Bakri said this at a news conference at Bukit Aman federal police headquarters.

I was just wondering about the statement above...

There was a robbery case in Jalan Klang Lama where the robbers uses the backhoe excavator to drag out the ATM machine. How the hell can the banks monitor properly? And how the hell it relates to the banks' "upgrade of their security systems like they are suppose to" as claimed by Comm Mohd Bakri.

It really puzzles me on the statement of surreal facts and surreal knowledge.

On 22nd June, 2008, an ATM machine was “excavated” from a petrol station in Batu 6½, Jalan Klang Lama.

A man driving an excavator had pulled up at the station at 5.30am and the operator drove the excavator into the glass door. Using the articulated arm and bucket of the excavator, the thief managed to tow away the ATM machine.

Mav,

This is not new of the police but seem like an SOP for them already. If you make it such to encourage crime, it is your fault. Isn't this the 'sick' mentality of the police nowadays? I have been consistent in my posting and if you are unfortunate having to deal with them you will know this is their stand.

Fighting crime? Since when are they good at their job but only for their pockets only. Just like the case involving RPK, you think they can investigate professionally? If they can, their image would not hit rock bottom among the rakyat.

It is partially true. Except the police produce all the facts, or perhaps they didn't do their homework properly.

There are suppose to be alarm attached to any external ATM to the security center. So when the alarm trigger, security center are suppose to react on it.

It is not easy to remove an ATM in 15 minutes inside any premises. and 15 minutes is enough time for security company to take a peek on the site.

CCTV are totally useless on such case, because all this job, require insider information to make removal of ATM smooth and success. And they definite has way to overcome the CCTV footage.

So this is Malaysia Boleh, in year 2008, after many ATM excavate case happens few years back(yes, this ATM excavate robbery are NOT new), there is still ATM staying in premises without proper security setup.

Ie think the backhoe's operator really desparate for money. Really need the money to pay to the lender as his got no job for the past few months. Or may he needed the money to buy diesel as he not entitled to diesel subsidy.

Maverick, nowadays more and more stupid statements given by corrupted mind officials. Just wonder how they works use their mouth or their brain

Frankly we malaysians have to admit that if the upper echelon of the government office is weak and incompetent leader, we should not expect me brainy add-value advice or services from the lower ranks servants, like the Commissioner. Such remark from such rank only proved that malaysians think tanks are as good as dirt in the bin. The best take that can be ponder, if any, is to ignore such remark or comment. What a waste of tax-payers monies to support such position, the person, and his all family link with him.

Mave, robbers are on the prowl to siphon off precious petrol from private vehicles. So, if you don't start putting chains and locks all around your car, the police will blame you next for not taking precaution in protecting your fuel from being siphoned off!!

And next in line are girls who still don't make a beeline for chastity belts - the police will blame them for getting raped because they never take action to lock up their most precious asset down under!!

This is an example of the caring government of Barisan Nasional.

Msiaman,

Ya, I agree with your points.

Moo_t,

I think the police just simply respond to it. They may not have the slightest idea of what's happening.

Mamadou,

You may be right as they use the arse more than the brain.

Purple Haze,

You are point blank.

Pui-kay-Mack,

You have the greatest point.

Anak Merdeka,

I agree with you totally.

Famil,

You are absolutely right.
