Dell Inspiron 1420

Today I bought a Dell Inspiron 1420 for my sweetie, my darling who is my one and only daughter.

She wants a notebook, and it's my duty to give it to her; otherwise, she'll be unhappy.

She'll be entering university this year and she surely need this piece of tool for her assignments and research; of course this is also a piece of communication tool for her to connect and communicate with her friends.

I sure do not want her to spent her time at the cyber-cafe. It is important for her to be able to do her works and research in the comfort of her home and within the confines of her own room.

Amongst all the mid-range laptop I think Dell is still the most reasonably priced quality product.

It costs ranges from RM2,300-Rm2,500.

I choose white casing which is my favorite.

I think she will like this piece; I hope she'll like it.

My pocket is leaking badly!!!

Kena Ubah Gaya Hidup!

Makan biskut dan minum air paip.

Ubah Gaya Hidup se orang diri.

CK,

you've got to learn to join the dots,... he's got a son who's just done Ph D ( 27 yrs? )... he said he did 20 yrs managing problems and the last 4 ( now at least 5 or 6 - I've reading his blog for quite a few years )

How many candles does that come to?

Age into university = 21
Graduate with pH D = 7
Managing problems = 20
years talking = 6

Total = 54 candles

At least, right Mav?

possibly his youngest daughter,...

the give away,.... gaya hidup seorang diri.....

Actually, "ubah gaya hidup" thing-ee is not that bad la. Its a matter of personal choices and being environmentally friendly at the same time. Maybe it the bloody scrooge in me that is talking.

On this aspect, you could have considered getting a (then) top line subnote book (eg IBM Thinkpad X series) and load it up with linux. It worked so well for me that I junked my newer and more expensive Acer in favour of an older recycled notebook.

Cheers, keep the good work. Been enjoying your blogs all this while.

I suggest you buy a kuda pencen for her to get to classes. Rumput aplenty at the uni.

Ever considered the Asus Eee PC at about half the price and double or triple the "cool" factor of the Inspiron?

I bought one each for my two daughters in universities, and they loved it!

CK,

I always look young; I use HGH, the same brand as Mahathir's brand.

Jefus,

You don't pecah my lubang and make me so old lah; Even you are a perfect mathematician I must still admit you are wrong, though you are right.

CK,

I didn't lie lah; just that I got a young boy look.

Anon 10:58am,

Good suggestion and I may try it out.

Kata Tak Nak,

Ya, I will go to the Stut Farm to buy a kuda lama pencen and eat up all the grasses in Uni.

"I choose white casing which is my favorite."

How come not her favorite colour leh? :P You ubah gaya tapi masih tidak kurang gaya lagi yo.

Hasilox,

You probably are right as I should let her choose the color; but I wanted to have this right to pick a color to represent my inner hope that she will be hardworking and pure; that's why I chose white.

Nice and good PC for your daughter. I will get it one as the price quite reasonable

But our nowadays unreasonable any more like you said 'kena ubah gaya hidup'. I may adopt life style of the people in this poorest country in the world. Hey sometimes they are more 'gaya' than us, you know.

Thanks

wah! i wish you are my father... then can get one from you too. :)

honestly i am looking for a notebook too - to be used at home and out of home. my home PC already something wrong and instead of buying a PC, am considering buying a notebook.

i did have my eyes on one dell inspiron which cost slightly over RM2K but because now everything goes up, no money to spend already so am looking for one that cost less than RM2K.

Wah.. I also wanna be your sweetie can ah? I don't want Dell. I want Sony Vaio...pink casing. can?

RM2.5K, that is cheap. If you remember the income tax deduction for computer are RM3000.

But wait, Doc, I assume you forget to check out the warranty. New notebook only come with 1 year warranty. It is important to pay extra few hundreds to get 3 years warranty. It save you all the hassle and money after end of the first year warranty period.

Mamadou,

It is worth getting a Dell.

Lucia,

You should get one notebook to replace the desktop. Bite your teeth and get one.

Purple~Mushroom,

You can be my sweetie and I get you a vaio...hehehehehehe

you should heed DPM call - "UBAH GAYA HIDUP!"

instead of getting new laptop, you probably could get 2nd hand punya laptop at lowyat, or desktop...

GAYA HIDUP TU, UBAH, UBAH...

You are such a good dad, I am sure your daughter will be very happy and I am sure she knows you love her very much.

I wish I could say the same for my kids, my son who is in secondary school also wants one as all his friends has a notebook at home.

Die-lah......how to ubah somemore....already skipping this and that....
We can makan biskut and minum air paip but our cars cannot, and especially my kids are at a growing stage, makan pun banyak.....
Paying for a miracle now...

Denzook,

I had seen many others who uses second-hand laptops and desktops and it didn't last except a few months. I thought I will give my daughter a better one so that it can at least last 3 years at the campus.

Toolan,

Thank you and I hope you'll get your kid a of this. We can ubah hidup sendiri; we can save in other expenses so as to be able to provide the needs of our children.

ive been using DELL1420 too for eight month, and what i can say is the system never failed me!

the best thing about dell1420 is that it comes with 2gb DDR2 ram at very reasonable price of 2.5k, at which other brand can only offer 1gb ram.

Jebat,
