Petronas wins Montreal F1

Petronas F1 Team in partnership with BMW-Sauber, for the first time in the history of F1, won the Montreal F1 yesterday. To add to the delight, the team captured a 1-2 for the title.

Robert Kubica from Petronas won the Montreal Formula One Grand Prix of Canada . The Petronas-BMW-Sauber driver crossed the finish-line 16.495 seconds ahead of teammate Nick Heidfeld to capture a checkered flag for the first time in his F1 career.

His victory gave him the F1 lead with 42 points to 38 for both Lewis Hamilton and Felipe Massa.

With 30 laps left, teammates Kubica and Heidfeld battled to the end.

Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso were eliminated by crashes.

Raikkonen and Kubica were stopped side by side by a red light at the exit to pit lane when Hamilton crashed into the back of the Finn's Ferrari. Nico Rosberg then smacked his Williams into Hamilton.

The end result: Hamilton and Raikkonen were out of the race, leaving the field free for Kubica to fulfil promise that has been evident since the start of the season.

"I have to thank (Hamilton) that he chose Kimi and not me," Kubica said with a smile.

David Coulthard got back on the podium for the first time since Monaco two years ago. The Red Bull driver came home third for a podium finish.

The Petronas Formula 1 team wish to the the Prime Minister Abdullah for his inspiring leadership in guiding and motivating the F1 team to a success. The recent initiatives of increasing the price of fuel and gas has motivated the Petronas management and thus provided them with the extra cash which can now be poured into the further development of the Formula One cars and drivers and hopefully we can also develop a Ketuanan thing with F1. In fact, Petronas will now be given additional task and responsibility to ensure appropriate allocation and fundings for the trips to the Moon and Mars, and include paying for the second-hand Soyuz capsule.

How much PETRONAS spend for F1 sponsorships so far. How does it actually benefits Malaysia (the cars, drivers, the team are all foreigners). Anybody can sell oil now even without advertisement.

Oilyman,

Not much; only a few hundred million a year.

Denzook,

We are different; we Malaysians always attribute all successes to the PM.

Edi,

No laundering.

Moo,

The win is important as it give us the reason why our petrol price increase is justified.

Jefus,

The pensioners are just unlucky; they now must hope for another revision.

Oris,

Must thank Pak Lah first. If Pak Lah withdraw the sponsorship last week, Kubica and Hiedfeld will be jobless.

Mahathir is history alredi.

I will say, I don't give it a f*ck!

Petronas sponsored has little value for Malaysia.

Should the same amount of money pour in to support the cultural, literature, Malaysia should have some world class artist long time ago. To 1st world country, what Petronas did are not different than OPEC country "tribe leader" that buy gold toilet bowl.

Moo_t,

If that money is not spent in F1, then it will also go into the pockets.

hahaha, you are funny and yet you dont know much.

recent price hike in fuel price dont benefit petronas because it is the govt who is taking away the subsidy which they pay.

furthermore, petronas dont owe the team!

Warrior2,

There's one thing I also like to tell you - you've illustrated your own stupidity over the subject matter.

Petronas definitely benefit from the fuel subsidy reduction, Warrior2 unless you closed your cognitive faculty and uses your kidney to think. The govt uses Petronas money to pay for those subsidies and Petronas is forced to contribute towards the deficit by way of dividends or other forms which is not known to you.

Do not act intelligent, my friend; for you aren't! That I am sure!
