Neither the proposal to amend the Federal Constitution to set up the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) nor that to reinstate Article 121 to its pre-1988 position will be tabled in Parliament next week.De facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who had presented his proposals to the Cabinet last week, said it needed more time for it to be tabled.
“Some people agree. Some people do not agree,” Zaid said. “I just need to convince other parties who are equally as powerful as I.”

We now have a Flip-Flop Minister in the prime minister's department! Just like his boss!Zaid keeps saying the prime minister is desirous of judicial reform. Look at the facts and factors - IPCMC is a no-no; judicial reform is a no-no; reforming Article 121(1) is a no-no; apology to the judges is a no-no; Nothing, absolutely nothing can Zaid do; he can only propose but the cabinet ministers shoots it down, each and every one of it.
Zaid said he just can't convinced some of the cabinet members who are just as powerful as him. I think he should say that they are much more powerful and influential than him.
Some cabinet ministers are the main obstacles. Who are they that disagreed?
Umno Ministers controls 80% of the cabinet composition; they just cannot accept reform; they are afraid that such reforms will eradicate corruption, nepotism and cronyism.
They are afraid that it would expose all the wrongdoings they had committed; they are afraid to lose power, influence and wealth exploitations. They want to control the judiciary so that no judges will be free and independent from executive influence and dictations. They are afraid, afraid of all things they preached for others to follow but wants their own behaviors and desires to be exempted from the laws made for others. That's ketuanan!

The government acknowledged the ugly history of the judicial crisis, made ex-gratia payment to those former judges and agreed to a JAC..give it a lil more time, give Zaid a lil more time. I'm sure none of us want a product of a reform proposal that is hastily put together.

I agree; but the issue isn't more time; the essence is that a few cabinet minister overrules the prime minister's initiative for reform; what's the contextual issue?
let's wait it out and see. the initial proposal by Zaid to apologize over the judicial crisis was met by dissenting voices too, but I think we can all fairly agree that it ended well. Overall, I think it was a great move by Pak Lah, appointing Zaid. Zaid has delivered so far, let's wait it out and see now.

Did the apology happen? It didn't end well; it ended with money to appease. So, to solve inefficiency and systemic dysfunction, money is the only tool available. Remember: they tried to solve SAPP with bribing Yong TL.
